The people are told what beasts they can and can't eat.
Animals that have split hoofs and chews the cud, they were allowed to eat.
Definition of cud is:
partly digested food returned from the first stomach of ruminants to the mouth for further chewing. Ruminants is a 4 chambered stomach.
But, they couldn't eat an animal that chewed the cud, but didn't have split hoofs. This includes the camel, coney (aka hyrax), and rabbit.
Animals that didn't chew the cud, but had split hoofs were also not to be eaten. They were not allowed to eat pigs.
They were not to be eaten and their carcass was not to be touched.
Fish that have scales and fins were allowed.
They were not allowed to eat fish without fins and scales.

Ch. 12
If a woman gives birth to a boy, she shall be unclean for 7 days. The 8th day the child is to be circumcised. The woman goes through 33 days of purifying. During that time, she may not touch any hallowed thing or come into the sanctuary.
If she gives birth to a girl, she shall be unclean 14 days, and the days of her purifying will be 66 days.
After her days of purification, she shall make offerings and she shall be cleansed.
I watched an interesting sermon on this a few years ago. The preacher said that this is done for the woman's benefit. It takes more out of the woman to have a girl than it does a boy, thus the Lord gives her more time to recover. He gives her twice as much time to recover. These laws weren't against the woman, they were to help the woman.
Interesting, I have not heard this before

"In the pagan world at that time, it was customary to offer sacrifice wherever one pleased. Altars were often built on high hills, in forested areas, or at other special places.
With the building of the tabernacle, Israel had a centralized place of worship. Therefore, they were not allowed to offer sacrifice in any place or in any way they pleased. If they disobeyed, they would be cut off from among the people."
vs.7 The idea was that Israel was the covenant “wife” of God. When Israel worshipped, honored, and sacrificed to idols it was like committing adultery or even prostitution with those gods
/demons they represented.

The nakedness of woman on her monthly and the nakedness of the neighbor's wife are not to be uncovered.
They were not to offer their children as a sacrifice unto Molech (a Canaanite god).
Same sex sexual relations is an abomination.

Thank you, now I know who Molech is😀I wonder why they mention him before discussing who he is

vs.18 probably means that a man and woman should not be doing the wild monkey dance during her monthly cycle.

Man shall not lay with his aunt or his sister-in-law, in so doing they shall die childless.
The Lord says they shall inherit the land and they shall keep His statutes and judgements.
