Mat 22:37 Jesus said to him, “‘
You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38
This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40
On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”
The whole bible hangs on the principles of love to God and love to man.
I don’t know how one is going to be able to justify loving God with our all heart, souls and mind by worshipping other gods, vaining His holy name, bowing to false images or breaking God’s holy Sabbath day.
Same with loving our neighbor as yourself- hard to do so, if we are committing murder, adultry, lying, coveting or breaking any of the commandments that relate to how we love man.
At least thats what the scriptures teach
Rom 13:9
For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” [a]“You shall not bear false witness,” “You shall not covet,” and if
there is any other commandment,
are all summed up in this saying, namely, “
You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
The summary does not delete the details. That’s what I love about God’s Word, it always explains itself, if we allow it to. Love to God and love to man never went undefined 1 John 5:2-3 so we don;t have to depend on our own version of love, when God defined it for us. Exo 20:6 John 14:15 John 15:10
