Or perhaps an inquisition would also open their eyes.

The inquisitions ceased in 1830.

That was around the time that many Christian sects fired up.

There is something in that.

Mwhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.
Are you as the Inquisitor volunteering? .:giggle::coffee::coffee::coffee::giggle:

Thank God they came out of Catholicism! (way back when... )

No, the law at Sinai was given because of transgression, ministered by angels.

The law of God's character came in the form of His Son for all to behold. Those who receive the promised Holy Spirit, by grace through faith, understand this.
The law that defines sin 1 John 3:4 Rom 7:7 James 2:10-12 can't be the same law that was given for breaking God's law.

God defined the Ten Commandments as "My commandments" Exo 20:6 right in the unit of Ten that He wrote and He spoke.

Is there someone greater than He to define His law?

Did that change in the NT?

Not according to Jesus

Mat 15:3 He (Jesus) answered and said to them, “Why do you also transgress the commandment of God because of your tradition? 4 For God commanded, saying, ‘Honor your father and your mother’; (quoting right from the Ten Commandments) and, ‘He who curses father or mother, let him be put to death.’ 5 But you say, ‘Whoever says to his father or mother, “Whatever profit you might have received from me is a gift to God”— 6 then he need not honor his father [a]or mother.’ Thus you have made the commandment of God of no effect by your tradition. 7 Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying:

8 ‘These people [c]draw near to Me with their mouth,
And honor Me with their lips,
But their heart is far from Me.
9 And in vain they worship Me,
Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ ”

Revelation 22:14 Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.

What commandments?

15 But outside are dogs and sorcerers (Breaking commandment #1 Exodus 20:3) and sexually immoral (breaking commandment #7 Exodus 20:14) and murderers (breaking commandment #6 Exodus 20:13) and idolaters (breaking commandment #2 Exodus 20:4-6), and whoever loves and practices a lie (breaking # 9 Exodus 20:16 or any of them 1 John 2:4). The commandments are a unit of Ten Exodus 34:28 and James says you break one commandment quoting from the Ten we break them all. James 2:10-12

Seems like your disagreement is not with me.
If you feed the spirit that moves those opposed to scripture they are then encouraged.

No, the Biblical truth won't reach them. Only God changes that.

Jesus gave a new commandment about love. In the new commandment, the standard for love for God and for man was the same. That's MUCH more serious than "love your best". Try to keep up..
You aren't quoting Jesus. Therefore you can't tell any Christian to try to keep up with Sophistry.

Oh, good. Then you'll agree we are no longer instructed by the 10 Commandments and the prophets.

"God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, 2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; 3 who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person..."

The Sinai Law was the shadow. Christ is the reality. Don't live in the shadows when the Light has appeared.
You don't have a clue.

Convincing them is not my job, but pointing out the scriptures to those reading along I pray helps a little. :)

Galatians 3:18-19

For if the inheritance depends on the law, then it no longer depends on a promise; but God freely granted it
to Abraham through a promise. 19Why then was the law given? It was added because of transgressions, until
the arrival of the seed to whom the promise referred. It was administered through angels by a mediator.
thank you!

Can someone explain to me the "mediated by angel" thing in Gal 3:18-19 does this mean the law was given by angels? this does not seem to correspond to what the old testament says.

They are seriously out of control.

Why do these laws have such a powerful effect on certain people?

They fail to understand what Paul was saying in his letters.

They fail to recognize the ten commandments were the letter of the law.

How do you make them understand what the letter of the law means?

How do you make them understand what "grace" actually means?
They have weak (or no) faith, and some among us are not of us, so really all we can do is bear witness to the truth and leave it in God's hands.

There were lots of laws given at Mt Sinai. Neh 9:13

Do you really believe the law Paul is referring to is the one God said If you love Me keep My commandments Exo 20:6 that is perfect for converting the soul Psa 19:7 written personally by our perfect Savior. Mat 5:48 and Paul is now teaching that we fall from grace if we only worship God, only keep His name holy, not stealing or lying. Really??

So Paul is teaching one to sin Rom 7:7

Rom 7:7 What shall we say, then? Is the law sinful? Certainly not! Nevertheless, I would not have known what sin was had it not been for the law. For I would not have known what coveting really was if the law had not said, “You shall not covet.” Rom 7:

and dishonor God

Rom 2:21 you, then, who teach others, do you not teach yourself? You who preach against stealing, do you steal? 22 You who say that people should not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples? 23 You who boast in the law, do you dishonor God by breaking the law?

And is teaching to be left outside the gates of heaven

Revelation 22:14 Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.

I see why there is such a stern warning about Paul's writings twisting to one's own destruction leading one to outside the gates of heaven and teaching the opposite of what Jesus Christ taught and lived.

Well, I wish you well with that.
Paul is very clear in Gal5;4 on which Law he was referring to as in Gal 4:21-24, Sinai covenant Law which bears the children who are to be slaves.

"If you Love me keep my commandments". Jesus said. So do you keep ALL Gods commandments as Jesus said, without failing in any point? You either keep ALL or Nothing.

This is for you to consider:

Romans 5:13..Sin was in the world Before the Law was "given"..(notice the word "given)

Gal 3:19..Why then, the law was "given " at All? It was "added" because of transgressions until the Seed to whom the Promise referred had come. The Law was "given' through angels and entrusted to a "mediator"..

Notice the Law was only given to man through a "mediator" and that is where the old covenant in which Moses was the mediator of that covenant when God first gave the Law to Isarel in Sinai.

So when you quote Exodus 20 etc, remember this is a covenant documents between God and Israel only.

Moses was on the mount 40 days and nights receiving the law. Do you think angels weren't involved in the transmission of knowledge?

John 13:34-35 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must
love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

Those are Jesus' words...

So Paul was teaching to sin and dishonor God and to do the opposite of what Jesus taught and did for mans example. I have never heard of we can either keep all the commandments or break them all and both are okay doctrine. Thats a new one. Not one Jesus taught. Mat 5:19-30 Mark 7:7-13 Mat 15:3-14 Mat 19:17-19 John 14:15 Exo 20:6 John 15:10

I guess we will all find out soon enough.
