Keeping in mind that creating a heavenly kingdom on earth being next to impossible even though we should be praying and working toward that end while we we are wandering around here, let me ask whether any of Trump's cabinet picks are as objectionable as the Dems seem to believe.

Any thoughts/opinions regarding this question, preferably applying GW?

Any thoughts about whether only biblical marriage should be legal?

Probably the NT Scripture most directly applicable to politics is RM 13:1-7:

Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for... the authorities that exist have been established by God. Thus, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted... For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong... He is God's servant to do you good, but if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing. He is God's servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. Therefore it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also because of conscience.

This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God's servants, who give their full time to governing. Give everyone what you owe him: If you owe taxes, pay taxes.

This passage should be interpreted along with Acts 5:17-30, in which the Sadducees arrested the apostles and brought them before the Sanhedrin, and the high priest gave them strict orders not to teach in the name of Jesus, but Peter replied, "We must obey God rather than men!"

Sewing these two passages together, we understand that authority established by God does NOT contradict the Gospel that "Jesus is the Christ" (Acts 5:42) and Christ's law of love.

Eli,

God has used random souls throughout history to do His will on earth, so let us not reject the way God might want to answer our prayers.

While neither God will--nor governments can--force Faith, we can exercise faith to resist devils/dictators as much as divinely permissible, believing that God is sorting out this fallen world with our cooperation.

It is possible that an imperfect earthly society can reflect the heavenly Jerusalem to some better extent, although we should not expect to create a utopia.

Over...
Perhaps the most controversial current issue is whether Matt Gaetz should be Attorney General. I think he would be effective at cleaning up corruption in the DOJ, and y'all say what?

Consider this. Many of you seem cynical about politics, but is any other thing you are involved with pure?

Do you only go from your prayer closet to your church and back again without being salt, light and leaven for the world in other aspects of living? (MT 5:13-16)

Shouldn't we be trying to help God's kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven in our neighborhood, places of work and recreational activities as well as in church and Christian Chat?

Aren't our rights in the Constitution a blessing worth preserving? Are we being like Esau and despising our birthright?

Anyway, I just wanted to say that by way of encouraging us to appreciate the blessing God has given us in this country that now seems less likely to succumb to a fascist-marxist takeover by the Dems. Yay! PTL! And Happy trails till we meet again on other threads! :^)

How should we vote concerning transgendering: To affirm it as a viable alternative lifestyle or to treat it as a mental illness for which a cure should be sought?

I wish I had titled this thread "Applying God's Word to the political sphere of life rather than hiding our light under a bowl"
(MT 5:16).

This is a mental illness. It's called body dysphoria. Basically people are unhappy with a part of their body, such as hands, nose, eyebrows, eyes etc.

Yes, and we should want to be healthy physically as well as spiritually, so IMO we should support RFK Jr. if he wants to spend some of our tax money on treatment for transgenders as long as we are NOT spending money on support for doing the impossible of changing chromosomes.

Yes I agree.
But, I support RFK Jr mainly as a means to counterbalance the ideas from the liberals, not because RFK is a genius or because my support should be anything related to my faith in God, which I know you don’t like to separate and always mention the verse “ may your will be done on earth as it is in heaven” for which I responded to you two times.
The important thing though is that we both support RFK Jr in our different ways.

Can you give us examples of a Roman law Jesus changed? or Paul? or John? or Peter? Or maybe even petitioned to change? I'll even take a passing suggestion that a certain law should be changed.

I'm not even aware of an occasion where people of the world (not Pharisees) were bothered by Jesus.

Yes, but I don't think Jesus was being tricky when he prayed for God's kingdom to come on earth when he knew that was impossible. I do think that prayer finds partial fulfillment to the extend that Christ's body/church behaves the way it should.

That is easy if one has eyes to see that the leaven of the love of Christ has changed civilization including Rome and the world for the better, especially after the printing press accelerated the spread of GW among the lower classes.

Okay, so this means "lead by example" not "follow current political trends" in order to Bring the Kingdom of God here on Earth figuratively.

It means using every means possible to evangelize the world in order to bring the KOG on earth actually. You DO realize that it is a spiritual kingdom? (MT 3:2, 4;17, 23, 10:7, 12:26, 13:19-33, 21:31, 24:14, lk 17:20-21, Etc.)

Hope we don't post past each other this time. Yay! We didn't.

Of course. If love is your goal people's lives change. No accusation can be leveled against the love of God.
Compelling the world to go against their own consciences is not found in the gospel of Christ. Not until the judgement. The way we save people from abortion is to lead them to Christ, not ban them from the clinics.
