My lo cal pastor keeps telling me about Baby Moses in The Bible, but I haven't seen any threads about him.
Joseph was a Hebrew who found favor with the Pharaoh, and given 2nd in command in Egypt, which he had his people from Israel come to Egypt, and the Hebrews prospered, and became great in number.
But a Pharaoh rose up that did not know Joseph.
Previous pharaohs respected Joseph's role in saving their nation, while this new ruler had either no knowledge of or no respect for this history.
He said the people of Israel have become mightier than the people of Egypt, and feared if an enemy attacked them the Hebrews might join their enemy to help conquer Egypt.
He put the Hebrews as slaves with rigor, and heavy burden which seems so they would be in a weakened condition so they were worn out to where they could not fight that effectively, also it seems like he would keep their food intake low, and to use them to build their cities, structures, and work in the field.
They made their lives bitter with hard bondage, all their service was with rigour but the more they afflicted them the more they multiplied and grew.
Pharaoh spoke to the midwives to the Hebrew women and said if it is a boy kill it, but they feared God and kept them alive.
He told his people to cast every born son in to the river which seems like population reduction for them, and there would be less adult males to fight against them.
One woman hid her son 3 months and then she put it in the river in an ark, and Pharaoh's daughter went to the water to wash, and took the baby as her son and called him Moses.
She said this is one of the Hebrews' children.
Exo 2:6 And when she had opened it, she saw the child: and, behold, the babe wept. And she had compassion on him, and said, This is one of the Hebrews' children.
Gen 43:32 And they set on for him by himself, and for them by themselves, and for the Egyptians, which did eat with him, by themselves: because the Egyptians might not eat bread with the Hebrews; for that is an abomination unto the Egyptians.
Exo 2:11 And it came to pass in those days, when Moses was grown, that he went out unto his brethren, and looked on their burdens: and he spied an Egyptian smiting an Hebrew, one of his brethren.
Exo 2:12 And he looked this way and that way, and when he saw that there was no man, he slew the Egyptian, and hid him in the sand.
Exo 2:13 And when he went out the second day, behold, two men of the Hebrews strove together: and he said to him that did the wrong, Wherefore smitest thou thy fellow?
Exo 2:14 And he said, Who made thee a prince and a judge over us? intendest thou to kill me, as thou killedst the Egyptian? And Moses feared, and said, Surely this thing is known.
Many people think Moses was a prince, and had much power, and authority, and could be successor to the throne.
But this is not true.
It was an abomination for the Egyptians to eat with the Hebrews, and associate with them, and their shepherds was viewed as lowly in their eyes even at the time Joseph was 2nd in command of the nation.
The Pharaoh's daughter knew Moses was a Hebrew as a baby.
When Moses was grown he went to look upon his brethren which he knew he was a Hebrew.
He was told he was a Hebrew when he could understand for the Pharaoh would not have him believing he was an Egyptian.
Also when he seen 2 Hebrews fighting he said to the one that did the wrong why do you smite your fellow.
Which he said who made you a prince, and judge over us, which if he was a prince having authority among the Egyptians he would of been a prince, and judge over them.
But he knew he was a lowly Hebrew the same as them for he was not scared to go against him saying you have no authority over us.
Moses was not the great man some people think he was, but was a lowly Hebrew in the eyes of the Egyptians, and Pharaoh would never give him authority over Egyptians, and he would never give him prince status.
But he had more favor than the other Hebrews by the Pharaoh because his daughter raised him as her son.
