HA HA! This isn't what you think it is, but it made you look! ;)


I want to learn the FIRST time I make a mistake so that I don't have to repeat it. What are some of the most important lessons you've learned from your mistakes?
 
Poor little lonely thread :)

Some of mine:
- That my son is watching everything I do and learning from it
- That everything I do affects how others view christians as a whole
- That everything I do will probably affect at least one other person
- That I am no longer my own and what I want isn't as important as what He wants to do in me

You know, I can somewhat relate to all of that. How I am is how my mother was and is. Only I push it a little to the extreme. :p But all in all, it is the same. I make my mistakes and I try to learn from them.
 
I could list a ton of them, but I'll just start with one.

Not hearing a 'no' from God, and hearing a 'yes' from God, are two completely different things.
 
I've learned that:

Watch you thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Watch your habits; they become your character. Watch your character; it becomes your destiny. - I dont know who wrote it

And that even though I cant see God working at some certain moment, He is! Then I realize He was there all the time, and then... I feel silly. Patience is a great virtue.

Thank you friends, but it's just a hard lesson learned here which I hope to spare you.

How about another one?

Just because you want something (or someone) more than anything...doesn't mean it (or he/she) is good for you.

In fact, even when all the pieces fall together, it does not mean it was 'meant' to happen. Please hear me. We have incredible sway over God's plan in our lives, and a large part over the lives of others.

We can meet someone who:

- Shares our faith in ways no one else seems to; or
- Has accomplished things that command great respect from us; or
- Ignites a chemistry within us like we've never felt before; or
- Challenges us to grow, learn and try things we might otherwise not have; or
- "gets us"; or
- Is a confidante like no other

And, as difficult as it may be to accept (because they are such amazing people), they aren't the one for us. They are the ones who teach us to appreciate such things so that we recognize them in the person who IS the one for us.

We need to be careful and prayerful, huh? Otherwise, we settle...
