I have a 4 and a 5 year old. What could I do as a daily devotion type thing for their age group. We just started praying together as a family every morning. Is there a book with daily devotions for that age or what?
 
You can teach them the fruits of the spirit one at a time, Ask them what is kindness? After they tell you, you can give them three examples.
Open a door for some one, remember to say thank you, help mom or dad. You can keep a chart. And when you catch them acting them out,
they get a star. Example: 10 or 25 stars earn a trip to the park. Hope this helps. God Bless
 
I think I may use that site as well, but maybe focus on one of the daily devotions for the week and practicing the lesson behind it so it sticks longer.
 
There should be kids bibles for those ages...I remember when my dad used to read from a kid's bible (not those toddler's bibles, though he used to read from that too before we got older.) and he'd tell us stories. We never were made to practice character traits, but I think it's an amazingly awesome idea to do that. Teach them good traits while they're still young and they should stick :) May God Bless you and your kids greatly!
 
I currently am a service leader for my churches kids group. We cover many themes but I find the kids love worship. Recently I have been teaching them the songs I sang in sunday school as a child. There is a website called DLTK Kids, it has many songs and printable activities and games in the bible section. The age group I work with is 0-5 but that website has activities for older kids aswell.
 
Children that young like games there are some at the Christian book stores that are fun. If they have fun they will learn faster. Then If there is something that happend during the day that you can bring a story up in the bible to shows them how this was handled in the word. Then let them talk it out with you how they see what happended and how the story goes together. when you give them this opportunity you can tell if they understood and you let them see that what they say is important and you have given them a sense of value.
 
I've been teaching them songs I've learned growing up. I had a cassette called wee sing Bible songs. Thank you all for the wonderful ideas. I am thinking a song in the morning before they go to school and then a game/coloring page pertaining to the info after dinner. Just got to print some up. I'm so excited to get this started

we have a picture Bible and a couple daily devotional kids Bibles and prayer books. I let my 5 year old son (who turns six tommorrow) chose which book we read from every night as a bed time thing and we read two or three books each night but if we are in a rush he is ok with just reading the Bible one.

My 3 year old daughter and 5 year old son really like the pictorial children Bible because they can help me read it by pointing to the words and I leave a space/silence and they fill it in with what the picture is like "Jesus" or "heaven" or "people" or "love"

then at the end of each story it asks "what did we learn today?" and that leads into stories about the Bible and their day. then we pray together about the lesson and people and protection and thanksgiving.

there are lot of free sites and fun game ideas. I'll post them when I get a chance :) they are for preschool sunday school lesson plans but you can adapt it to fit.

i like doing science experiments and talking about certain Bible verses that relate too and doing a month about Animals in the Bible is fun :)

look up some youtube videos they have Bible songs with sign language that you can teach the kids both to sing and sign praises to God. :)

I like to use the bible I got when I was a youngster, called Psalty's Kids Bible. it has a family of books... Psalty is the main character... it gives you hints to encourage your child to engage in bible study time, it has a page for your family tree, it has songs to sing during your devotional time, and my kids especially like the PSALTY SAYS inserts...

For Example:

PSALTY SAYS
"Ask for Wisdom"
the bible story here is Solomon's Story, and the key verses are 1 Kings 3:4-9

I think you and your children will enjoy it... my family and I do!
 
Hi, I have used many of these websites suggested for activities during my kids bible classes. However, I have been given the task of coming up with a whole new set of sunday school lessons for our church. Does anyone know of a good resource? Has anyone ever used gospellight.com?
