Rev 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. Is this Satan?
is this Satan?

Psalms 74:12-14
For God [is] my King from of old, Working salvation in the midst of the earth. You divided the sea by Your strength; You broke the heads of the sea serpents in the waters. You broke the heads of Leviathan in pieces, [And] gave him [as] food to the people inhabiting the wilderness.

is this Satan?

Psalms 104:24-31
O LORD, how manifold are Your works! In wisdom You have made them all. The earth is full of Your possessions—
This great and wide sea, In which [are] innumerable teeming things, Living things both small and great. There the ships sail about; [There is] that Leviathan Which You have made to play there.
These all wait for You, That You may give [them] their food in due season. [What] You give them they gather in; You open Your hand, they are filled with good. You hide Your face, they are troubled; You take away their breath, they die and return to their dust. You send forth Your Spirit, they are created; And You renew the face of the earth.
May the glory of the LORD endure forever; May the LORD rejoice in His works.

is this Satan?

Job 41:12
I will not keep silent about his limbs, His mighty power, or his graceful proportions.

How many kings do you know that behold all High things and are over all the children of pride.
Let's see,

Nebuchadnezzar, Trump, Ergodan, Cyrus, elephants, lions, whales, giant squid, armadillos, hawks, you, whoever that guy is on the house-selling TV show, numerous Pharoahs and Roman emperors, the pope, Putin, Taylor Swift, basically anyone after 8 beers, kids playing COD after they stole their parents credit card, war horses, Absalom, Joseph Smith, Joel Osteen, Kim Kardashian, Slim Shady, Elon Musk, the Ayatollah, any angry mother bear, Glenn Beck, Bill O'Reilly...

how big of a list do you want?

in Job 41 the creature leviathan is being compared to God, in that he is unassailable, unafraid of everything, and no one can stand against him - directly in context because God is using the creature as an example telling Job that it is foolishness to think to stand and confront his Creator.

"king over all the children of pride" is indicating no one who is proud can stand against him; their pride is brought low.

compare:

Proverbs 3:34
Surely He scorns the scornful, but gives grace to the humble.
Psalms 2:4
He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; The Lord shall hold them in derision.
Job 23:13-14
But He is unique, and who can make Him change? And whatever His soul desires, that He does. For He performs what is appointed for me, and many such things are with Him.
Psalms 18:27
For You will save the humble people, but will bring down haughty looks.
Isaiah 2:12
For the day of the LORD of hosts shall come upon everything proud and lofty, upon everything lifted up — and it shall be brought low

In fact, @tttallison, looking at this passage which actually does concern Satan, sp making of his pride, God says that He cast him down in it - effectively that despite Satan's pride, the LORD is still king over him:

Ezekiel 28:17
Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty; you corrupted your wisdom for the sake of your splendor; I cast you to the ground, I laid you before kings, that they might gaze at you.

Never followed a study guide on Job in Sunday school or church Bible study? How about YouTube, watch some videos on Job did ya?
nope.

in university my world literature 4000 level course had this book in it though, and when we were assigned to give a 30 minute presentation on anything in our text for the final, i certainly took the opportunity present scripture, and started studying it.

Elihu is amazing, and i still do not understand him as a sign. but the major thrust of the narrative is not hard to discern. and you say, what i have written is in keeping with the teaching of the general church throughout the ages? thanks. that's encouraging!!
but i don't know why you are not pleased that this should be so.

never followed a study guide, period, much less on Job. don't watch YouTube preachers either. at all.

my pastor touched in Job 1-2 necessarily a few years ago, because we have been studying Joel for 5 years and obviously the connection to the position of Satan with regard to the other angels is relevant. but despite my asking, we didn't have time to look into the rest of the book.

When the Lord opens the eyes of the blind there is no more accusatory line of questioning, it ceases.

Job 42:5-5 I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee. Wherefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes. (Repent for what-his sinful questioning of God, which is indicative of those who lack saving faith)

Did Job see God that day? Nope, not with the eye. This statement by Job is the common sentiment of all those who’ve been given eyes to see.
I once was blind but now I see 🎶

Job is not the pillar of faith, that title belongs to Abraham. When told to sacrifice his son what did Abraham ask God 🦗Nothing, he packed and headed up the mountain. Why didn’t Abraham ask God anything? Because God had already revealed himself to Abraham, Abraham had eyes to see, saving faith.

Job is a story of religiosity, belief becoming faith, obvious to those to whom sight has been given.

That’s not what at all what I said.

But yes, your statement of God never answering Job’s questions is in perfect alignment with Joel Osteen and company-blind guides.

you thought surely my understanding of Job comes from reading many commentaries; that tells me your understanding is that my position is the majority position.

but what obscure reading for which you can't point to anyone in particular is yours?

I would assume his obscure reading is the Word, though I wouldn't call it obscure.

Matthew 7-majority and minority.
good point yes, Matthew 7:24-25 indeed describe Job. his faith was founded on The Rock, see Job 19:23-29 e.g.
- such that he did not fall when the wind and the waves came.

why did God want Satan to see this, in your opinion?
