It is a pretty bold statement to say there are no real tongues. Especially since scripture debunks that idea.
Wisdom comes from rightly dividing the word of truth.
You are failing to rightly handle the Word of God.
It's what is called the emotional revolt of the soul.

Paul warned with tears about Christians who ended up locking themselves into the emotional revolt of the soul.

For, as I have often told you before and now tell you again, even with tears,
many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their destiny is destruction,
their god is their belly, and their glory is in their shame.
Who keep on thinking earthly things." Philippians 3:18-19

At the time of writing, people used the word 'belly' to describe what we today would call 'emotions.'

Body parts were often used back then to describe different human feelings or states of being...

For God is my record, how greatly I long after you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ.
Philippians 1:8

I wonder...

Is that a good one to use for the King James Version Only crowd?

We all need to learn more than we yet realize.

......... grace and peace!

he is the one who decides if I am his deciple
Correct. And only those who rightly divide His word are chosen.

I am a babe in Christ. I have much to learn. He is not going to put me on the front lines as cannon fodder. He will wait until I have moved up ranks and know how to battle on the front lines.

Earlier you said what happened to you when you were "slain in the spirit" could not have been fake because there are no examples of Satan or demons producing this in scripture. Now you say witches and occultists can fake tongues. Where in scripture is it found where tongues are faked?
it isn't I only know because my sister is a witch she calls herself a wiccan

Rightly Divide is not a Biblical term but a Reformed term trying to convince the masses to believe the baloney they spew.
personally I don't like the idea of dividing the word that is how all this confusion happens i mean if you have the truth do you divide that truth and why divide what is supposed to be the whole truth unless your trying to make something out of it that it isn't
all these denominations all these different doctrines all these different interpretations no wonder we are so divided as the body because we divide the word and ourswlves putting ourselves into catagories and preaching this truth vs that truth

Rightly Divided came popular when Asuza Street happened to claim that their dead and boring dried up religion, because it's only a religion, had an excuse.

Think about this for a moment.
The Rightly Divided group is one of the biggest movements pushing what most call the License to Sin doctrine.

Why would you listen to people who create doctrine to remove and add from the Bible like the Gifts have ended?

Well how am I prtraying God to be wishy washy?
OK then... What is your stand on this much?
Keep it in this only, please. Don't divert.

When Paul wrote 1st Corinthians, there were very little NT Scripture existing.
The NT was not yet perfect (completed)

Keep that in mind when Paul stated...

1 Corinthians 13:9-10

For we know in part, and we prophesy in part,
but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears.

If your understanding were true?

Why not just simply say? ......... "These gifts will all end when Jesus appears."

Because Paul was not referring to the return of Christ!
And, the Greek does not state that each gift will end in a same way.

Keep in mind.

98% of the NT was not yet known when Paul wrote 1 Corinthians!
The NT was terribly incomplete!

But in the church I would rather speak five intelligible words to instruct others
than ten thousand words in a tongue.
Brothers and sisters, stop thinking like children. In regard to evil, be infants,
but in your thinking, be adults. In the Law, it is written:
“With other tongues
and through the lips of foreigners
I will speak to this people, (this people = Jews)
but even then they will not listen to me. (Jews refusing to believe.)
says the Lord.” 1 Corinthians 14:19-21

1 Corinthains was written circa 50-55 AD.
Israel was destroyed by Rome in 70AD.

Why destroyed?
They refused the sign of tongues from God to warn them, just like Pharaoh galloped into the parted waters!

Tongues, then, are a sign, not for believers but for unbelievers." 1 Cor 14:22a

So how is that your version of tongues?
Like what was manifested when God gave it as a sign to unbelieving Jews?

You are wishy-washy if you refuse what it says, and give excuses to keep your distractor
away from facing what needs to be faced, and accepted by grace.

Your version of tongues is being used as a security blanket.

Brothers and sisters, stop thinking like children. In regard to evil, be infants,
but in your thinking, be adults.

If you can accept that the tongues the Bible spoke of is not what you are now experiencing in their purpose,
instead of allowing sound teaching to enter, and transform you. Enabling you to walk in the Holy Spirit's
grace power-sustaining, true inner security. Being a supernatural, unmoved state of mind that one does not
have to switch gears to enter into.

Maybe out of many, only a few who have been caught up in today's counterfeit tongues, will stand with a few with God,
and glorify Him as to show Satan that it is not such a deception that no one could have escaped from.

It would take real courage to do so.

graced and peace ............

In a humble attitude........Find your RIGHT pastor teacher. I do not have the gift of teaching.......So, I had to pray and search for him. It took me 2 years. Yes, I had a nice little church that did potlucks and gossip. But it took a diligent search to find my right pastor teacher.

It is different than what the scripture is saying for it as a sign for the jews but the same power that brings it foth does more than just be a sign what do you make of these verses?
1 Corinthians 14:2

“For one who speaks in an [unknown] tongue speaks not to men but to God, for no one understands or catches his meaning, because in the [Holy] Spirit he utters secret truths and hidden things [not obvious to the understanding so in this verse he says not praying to men but to God so if it was just a sign to the jews then why say that?

And on your point to the gifts I will say you make some good points

discernment. I know it is cliche but when you encounter fake tongues you get a certain disturbing feeling inside their words are there but they are dead words nothing behind them when you encounter the real thing you can actually feel God's power behind their words.
anyone can learn a new language and pretend to speak in tongues but tongues is usually not a language you know and it spews forth like a river almost like it isn't even you speaking anymore
WOW! Glad you have increased in this gift from God himself. To seal it's effectiveness, could you describe the limitation of the following also from God:

1Cor 14:39, '', , do not forbid to speak with tongues.''

While the Jews were still being warned by tongues, those who had the sign gift God did keep active when they were alone.
But, when in Church? If no one was there to interpret?

Then keep silent.

Well, using your own logic, if there are no examples of Satan or his demons counterfeiting the gift of tongues, then your sister has the genuine gift of tongues from God.

2 Timothy 2:15
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

The prophecy of Acts 2 is a continual one.
There are no temporary gifts... only continual ones.
Let me explain.
IF the gifts were temporary, God would be a respecter of persons by NOT giving the same opportunity to receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit AFTER salvation to the rest of His church, also making it harder for them to make it in the last days.
For instance, why would God remove the gift of faith when it's so desperately needed?
Then, you would have to explain why the gift of miracles is still active while others are not.
Oh, and lets nor forget that that healing & deliverance ministries are still around.
Actually, which gift is NOT in use today? The one hardly seen?
That's easy. Acts 2 states plainly that gift of prophecy is to be used of all christians.
It's the one less used for 2 reasons: 1. Satan knows this truth, so he fights the most to cancel it in the believer's life.
2. It's harder to fake because even sinners know if the prophecy doesn't come true, the prophet is false.
Tongues is easy to fake, 'cause you don't have to have an interpretation, so many find fault because of all the fakes.
You can't fake prophecy!
Sadly, the modern church only practices the easy gift. Hardly anyone wants the gift of prophecy.

NO GIFT can be wielded of our own accord. Only as the Spirit gives utterance.
Remember some of the OT prophets didn't want to be one?
God calls whom He will. It's not our choice.
Years earlier I spoke messages in tongues & gave interpretations. I would try to fight it because either I was unsure or didn't want to make any fleshly mistakes. But it's just like Jeremiah said when he wanted to stop. It's like a fire shut up in your bones.

Jer. 20:9 But if I say, “I will not remember Him Nor speak anymore in His name,” Then in my heart it becomes like a burning fire Shut up in my bones; And I am tired of holding it in, And I cannot endure it.

When it truly happens, I found I can't hold back.
