I was once challenged a question along the lines of : if I die, and pay the penalty for my sin, am I free from guilt?
We know people die and they are still guilty, because they face the second death. So if Jesus died in our place, why don't we still have to face death? What's the difference?
My guess is that Jesus kept the law, so the promise of the Law (Lev 18:5) applies to Him that He will live. Hence, He resurrected, and we can live with Him.
Keep my decrees and laws, for the person who obeys them will live by them. I am the Lord. (Lev 18:5 NIV)
Jesus is the mediator of a new and better covenant .
“For
when the priesthood is changed, the law must be changed also.
…
The former regulation is set aside because it was weak and useless (for the law made nothing perfect), and a better hope is introduced, by which we draw near to God.”
Hebrews 7:12, 18-19 NIV
jesus wasn’t made perfect because he kept Moses law no one ever was perfect because they obeyed the law of Moses
But that law is for these folk
“We also know that
the law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for
murderers, for the
sexually immoral, for
those practicing homosexuality, for slave traders and liars and perjurers—and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine”
1 Timothy 1:9-10 NIV
jesus was none of those things the law was made and added in for sinful corrupt people who can’t live right
( question ) “
Why, then, was the law given at all? ( answer ) It was added because of transgressions until the Seed to whom the promise referred had come. ( Jesus is the seed of promise ))
The
law was given through angels and entrusted to a mediator.”
Galatians 3:19 NIV
ever notice how the law demands death ? It’s because it came through this angel rather then Christ the Son who forgives sin
““See,
I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared.
Pay attention to him and listen to what he says. Do not rebel against him; he will not forgive your rebellion, since my Name is in him.”
Exodus 23:20-21 NIV
We can’t live under that law and it’s a death sentance for anyone to alter Moses words removing or adding to them . The solution is a New Testament law and mediator a new word that is better and brings us to God rather than scares us away for fear of death
Moses law isn’t our law , Christs law is the law
