There are basically two ways of reading it. The first one is the one world government view, where the fact that the beast is adored by all tribes languages and peoples means literally that it is every single language tribe etc on the earth. The second one would be it means all tribes languages and peoples within the beast's kingdom, which would be the areas described in the statue of Daniel, so middle-eastern, european, north african areas.

Which one do you believe it is and why?

I think the argument that it says "And it was given authority over every tribe, people, language and nation." sounds like one world government language, but my only issue with that interpretation that in the Bible these phrases are used in Daniel where they DONT mean that: For example, Nebuchadnezzer is told:

"Wherever the sons of men or beasts of the field or birds of the air dwell, He has given them into your hand and has made you ruler over them all. You are that head of gold. "

Did Nebuchadnezzar ever rule over the native americans? Of course not, so clearly this was talking about the world back. Similarly the third kingdom is said to rule over "all the earth" but we know the Greeks never ruled over Japan or Scandinavia.

What do you guys got to say about this? How do you get a one world government view when the Bible is using this type of language in the OT as well about local events? (Even in the NT there are examples of this, where a famine comes into the 'whole world' but its then revealed it was in Judea only)

Actually if you look up the word nations in the book of Daniel and the way its used, its NEVER global. King Darius sends a letter to "all the world"

"All nations tribes and tongues" bow down to the statue Nebuchadnezzar setup...

Revelation shows us the most complete expression of the thing it references. While there may have been shades of that thing in the world before (as referenced in the OT) what we are shown in Revelation is that thing in its fullness.

For example: the prostitute. We can find references to Israel as the prostitute. And indeed she was in relation to God. But the prostitute in Revelation is not simply Israel, she represents the complete expression of idolatry toward God. In the last days this expression will not be limited to simply Israel but to every religious expression that does not come from Christ the Son.

In this way, the Book of Revelation can speak about what was, is and is to come by using one expression. It is not merely an historical account. History gives us clues to the fullness of the thing that is coming, and by that it may aid us in our understanding, but we should expect the thing referenced to appear more complete in our lifetime and even more so as the Day of the Lord draws nearer.

So, in your example above, rule over the known world was possible in OT history. Beyond the walls of the known they had no rule. Now, the enemy was still the ruler over all the world but that wasn't taken into account because it wasn't relevant at the time. Now that the world is more connected, the enemy may now be seen to rule over the whole world.

The beast of Rev 13:1-3 rising up with seven heads and ten horns is a one world political system of the end times that the dragon (Satan), gives his power to. This political system will suffer a deadly political wound which will be healed by the dragon. The second beast of 13:11-17, which had two horns like a lamb but spoke as a dragon, is Satan appearing in his role as Antichrist claiming to be God, as foretold in II Thes 2:3-4. He will deceive the world into worshipping him by performing great signs in their sight. He will cause a great falling away from the true God through his false teachings and deception.

Keep in mind that those that studied God's word to know that Satan would come first, before Jesus, will stand against him to expose his lies, with the Holy Spirit speaking through them, Math 10:16-20. The real Christ will come AFTER the workings of Satan, at the trump of God which is the last or 7th trump and will destroy him with the breath of his mouth and the brightness of his coming.

I am not adding my belief on the topic as of per topic until I see how the REFORMED define the world here. When it comes to God saving the world suddenly the world is a limited concept. I'm curious to see when the world worships the Beast if it becomes global. We all know how some doctrines fluctuate according to the topic. I'm sure the definition of world will be discussed and debated. Then I will offer my beliefs :ROFL:

In answer to Hakawaka's question on the one world government I say no. Many reasons but why would some cross the Euphrates river to attack Jerusalem?

I also say no to a one world government but contained to the middle east---Med sea area. Not saying turmoil and chaos will come upon all nations.

Big question I have is how does the one who become the antichrist start with a covenant with many including Israel (Dan 9:27). America has always been Israel's best friend and especially so with Trump but something drastic happens to change the future.

Rev 16:13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.
Rev_16:14 For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.

This is a good indication that whole world is meant rather than merely locally. Whole world is ὅλος οἰκουμένη (holos oikoumene), which also appears in Revelation 12:9. Since we know that satan deceives the whole planet rather than just some part(s) of it, at least usage of the term here means planet earth.

And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world (ὅλος οἰκουμένη): he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. Revelation 12:9

I am not 'reformed' in the sense that im a calvinist. I do believe in predestination as the Bible teaches it, but not a calvinist. Its manmade doctrine

Rev 3:10 isnt a good proof text, this same word is used in luke 2:1 which is talking about the emperor taxing the roman empire, thats the 'whole world' being talked aobut in luke 2:1. Exactly the same world.

Thats the issue, the word for WORLD is kosmos in the greek, and its never used when talking about the beast's rule. Even in the book of Daniel chapter 11, it says he hears bad news from the north and the east.

I believe Jesus explains it best comparing it to the days of Noah.
The flood was not local or regional it was world wide. All of mankind's thoughts and deeds were wicked continuous.
With the technology we have today it's not hard to believe that the whole planet becomes corrupt by the influence of the anti christ.
Anti christ has two meanings....being against God or instead of God. Either way as Jesus said we can do nothing without him.
Anti christ is a person but also a system that rules over food, wealth, medical, ect.
Mans quest to be self sufficient, independent, duplicate Satan's "I wills" as described in the old testament.

Thank you. You have convinced me it is indeed a global world government with global influence.

Now this forces me to reshuffle some of my eschatology. God bless, I am glad to be proven wrong if its done thru Scripture.

May I ask, who do you believe is "great city mystery Babylon" and who is "the beast" that she is riding?

Now we know the area of the beast kingdom. In Revelation 13, the beast from the sea has Leopard, Lion, Bear

These are the previous kingdoms that it has trampled upon.

Here is the map of the kingdoms, and what trampled them.

The last kingdom in daniel with ten horns

“Then I would know the truth of the fourth beast, which was diverse from all the others, exceeding dreadful, whose teeth were of iron, and his nails of brass; which devoured, brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with his feet; and of the ten horns that were in his head, and of the other which came up, and before whom three fell; even of that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spake very great things, whose look was more stout than his fellows.

I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them; until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom.

Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces.

And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings. And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.”
‭‭Daniel‬ ‭7:19-25‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Then johns explaination of his last head of the beast with ten horns

“The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.

And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition. And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast. These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭17:8, 11-

the point of quoting these is one of the heads of johns seven headed beast appears as if it was slain and yet lived he existed then was put in the pit then later comes back again in the end.

“The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition”

five of the kings had already ruled and fallen in johns day be was ruling and one was left to rise up then . But then another king rises up from the pit that was one of the seven before and he rises up again to power and had ten companions who serve his Will and three of those will fall so there will be eight left of those eleven future kings

Johns vision looks back at the past and also at the present in his time and the future as well

“And there are seven kings: five are fallen,( past )

and one is, ( johns present day )

and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space. ( johns near future )

And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition. And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; ( johns future ) but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.”( future )
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭17:10-12‬ ‭KJV‬‬

consider that the last kingdom to rule earth is diverse from all kingdoms

“Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭6:11-17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

All the Roman controlled world is vastly different than all the world in the distant future by a global beast kingdom. It involves many nations under one leader, kings from all over the globe rather than part of the globe in the Roman times.

IMO the language used for the rule at the endtimes is literally global rather than all of a limited portion of the globe when speaking of old Rome.

Sorry for the delayed response but wanted to be sure of what I will now post.

The women represents the rise of paganism and the beast she rides is the system she uses to promote the beliefs. The system was created by the anti christ "red dragon".
As you read further it describes colors and description which points to Rome of its origin. Namely the Vatican.
Now note that of all the empires Rome was never conquered but fell apart and disappeared sorta.
In history the roman catholic church is known for killing more Christians than all the evil emperors combined.
Which is why the blood of the saints and the martyrs are mentioned.
False religion mixed with paganism equals abomination.
Also notice that she is destroyed in one day and all who morn her stand afar off.....nuclear??
The saints at that time are called to rejoice.
Also notice that Israel became a nation or as it was reported "reborn" in one day. 1948.
There is alot of study in these chapters.....could the rise of Rome be the little horn?

Thank you. You have convinced me it is indeed a global world government with global influence.
There is also this to consider in relation to the beast's global influence.

Rev 13:11
And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.
Rev 13:12
And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.
Rev 13:13
And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,
Rev 13:14
And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.
Rev 13:15
And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
Rev 13:16
And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
Rev 13:17
And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
Rev 13:18
Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

If the mark of the beast was not global in scale, but only limited to certain nations, then one would simply need to move from one part of the earth to another part of the earth to avoid taking it.
