I was a teacher for many years and I also had a child who had an IEP. You don't know what you are talking about. The federal government passes laws, they have no constitutional right to control education but what they do is take tax payer money and give it to schools who follow their instructions, It is corrupt and it is unconstitutional.

These laws include imposing rules on schools without providing funding. For the suburbs that may have twice as much money as the inner city they can afford to subsidize these rules. But the inner city can't and they can't afford to not get the money from the Federal government. So there is a loophole, it is called "least restrictive environment". If you have a lot of money that can be a small classroom with ten students and two teachers. But for the inner city that is a classroom of 34 students and 1 teacher. They put all the kids together, this is not helpful to your best students, nor is it helpful to the students that need the most help. When kids are bored or frustrated because they don't understand they will act out and disrupt the class. So the classroom becomes chaos. Then you have other kids who think it is funny to push the buttons of either of these two groups. They don't do enough to get disciplined themselves but can be very instrumental in creating a circus like atmosphere.

Granted, if you are an experienced teacher with ten years, and you are very serious about being a professional you can overcome all this. But most of these teachers will move to the suburb to teach. The suburbs pay more and so they like to get teachers with four or five years experience before they even enter one of their classrooms. So the inner city becomes the minor leagues for teachers. In a well funded suburb a teacher can make twice what they get paid in the inner city between their salary and the pay for clubs and tutoring. Also you don't have to worry about the circus like atmosphere of the inner city, they can afford teachers to take on the IEP students separately.

If you understand this then you understand that "no child left behind" means "no child gets ahead". That is the plan for the inner city. Give the rich suburbs a big advantage in education so that their kids become the leaders and the inner city kids can be cashiers and other low wage jobs.

I agree with much of what you said. What I don’t agree with is the executive branch making these decisions with only the oversight of the court.

What should be happening is the Senate should be writing legislation to fix some of the issues that you have addressed. Then congress should write it into a bill. And the president should have the power to Vito, our sign that bill into law.

Many of You say that this is what you voted for. However, when you were confronted with project 2025 and we said that this is what they want to do you called us crazy. You said they would never try this and if they did, they would never get away with it.

You’re cheering on an agenda that you denied. And that most Americans did not vote for.

If they write legislation saying the Federal government has no business getting involved in education I agree. However, if they are going to write legislation concerning the federal government getting involved in education then I would argue they must first make an amendment to the US consitution and get 2/3 vote in both houses.

What are the points in 25 that are being fulfilled?

I see the government being called out and held accountable. You think the government is just fine the way they operate?

What do you suggest then? The Government is the way you like it? No change, just carry on?

Just on a common sense level....A corporation/ big business cannot MAKE you buy its stuff and charge you when they like. The Government CAN. It may take a while, but consumers will and can make a corporation do their bidding.

On the other hand, the Government of today is untouchable.......Until now. And I cannot believe 100% of Americans are not on board to reign in the overreach of the Government and it's UNELECTED prigs.

So, Again......You like what you see out of the Government?

The executive branch has the power to shrink the footprint of the department of education. However, they need congressional approval to roll it into other agencies or end it all together.

The Department of education does not have the scope and reach that you think it does.

The main thing this is going to do is impact students with disabilities. Students with disabilities will go several years without getting the special education they need until the states are able to pick up the slack.
Excuse my French …. Or Russian rather, but bullish**ski!!!! On all counts.

People are so backwards on this point. Our founding fathers founded this government, knowing that all people are corrupt and all people and the government will always be corrupt. They develop the best system they knew how to stand against the inevitable corruption that comes when people are involved

Now we have an administration that is trying to demolish that system. People will always be corrupt. This administration is going to be just as corrupt as the last administration, but the system that our founding fathers put in place to defend against that corruption will no longer be there

All that’s happening is Trump is getting rid of the safeguards of the constitution so he can really start violating our rights. Including yours.

Trump is closing agencies and firing workers. Congress has allocated the money to pay for those agencies and to pay for those workers. The executive branch can’t step in and re-allocated funds that Congress allocated. That is against the framework of our constitution.

The changes that he’s making can be made, but they have to be done with the cooperation of the other branches of government.

The reason our government operates this way is because we set it up like this to avoid a king. And what is happening right now is this administration is acting like an oligarchy

This administration needs to be removed. It’s why we have the articles of impeachment. This is the worst thing an administration could ever do.

I do. You're the king of your domain. And I am the king of mine. And the next guy is king of his domain.

You want to be the king of my domain?
This got weird really quick.

It does to those who think..."What is mine is mine and what is yours is mine."

And this mentality is what Trump is attacking. They DESPISE it.

It’s all of our tax money. We elect individual representatives from each of our state to decide on what happens with that money. By putting that authority in the executive branch, we take the power out of the states and put the power in the federal government.

Our founding fathers never intended the federal government to have this much power. They wanted most of the power to be held by the states.

My major objection is how it’s being done. Congress allocated money for the department of education. By interfering with that process the executive branch is going against Congress.

Why are you suddenly concerned about Presidential powers? When Joe Biden made a fiasco of Presidential powers we never heard a peep from you. And where does it say in the Constitution that all money appropriated must be spent?

All Presidential powers have not been litigated. So your assertion may or may not be true. We'll see.
