I think that was the point of his gesture. For too long, people have been worried about anything remotely associated with Nazis and Hitler, including salutes, symbols, names and even nationalities. The amount of racism German people still endure today because of that short period in history is tragic.

This scenario is totally believable to me. I saw a news report this morning that an AP reporter was barred access to the oval office and the diplomatic reception room because he said Gulf of Mexico instead of Gulf of America.

I saw a news report a few years ago, people were fired because they refused to say a woman was a man.

In Munich Vance said "there's no room for firewalls." This is the piece of the puzzle I was missing. The "firewall" he's talking about is the protections Germany has put in place to prevent ultra-nationalist parties like AFD from joining ruling coalitions. Pretty stupid thing to say. He actually met with an AFD leader after his speech.

Musk, has repeatedly claimed that “only the AFD can save Germany” and last month hosted the AFD leader Alice Wiedel in a 75-minute live conversation on his social media platform, X.
