I’m not going to be the one claiming that I’m the only one being right, nor will I venture directly into meddling with the exchange of arguments between @HeIsHere and @Eli1, but, eli, I find it, shall I say, awkward, to read your black and white presentations of America versus the old world.

For those of us who are born and raised here it will not enhance our economic situation when Trump trades and tariffs wars begin. Quite the contrary. Oh, I’m sure the diehard fans will be cheering on him, but only until they find themselves paying $15 a gallon for gas, interest steadily increases, stagflation and the mighty dollar in the gutter.

And to really rub it in he’ll be accepting the metric system because gas will look cheaper charged by the liter.

I would love to hear it. So far to me you're speaking with the least amount of bias when it comes to the current situation we find ourselves in.

As far as tariffs go this is a bit of a game of poker. How much do the other countries want to bleed money without accepting defeat?
And how much does the population in USA will put up with higher prices?

So far i've told you where i'm from, how long i've been in US and my ideas on politics,.
The politics part may need more explanation since i've said these things to others not to you and you may be confusing me for someone who mixes politics with faith.
But yeah, if what you've experienced while growing up is different from what we're saying and it's not black and white then yeah i'd like to hear it.

I grew up in a household where no one was speaking English at home. Oh sure, they were able to utter a few words in English outside of the house, but their language skills were poor, at best.

Needless to say I didn’t speak English until I was six or seven. School was pretty much ruined by my lack of understanding English. One thing is to understand and speak the language. Quite another thing is reading and writing. Some teachers beat the English language into me.

We were discriminated against for being catholic, poor, language wise, yeah every stereotype the majority knew about was thrown at us.

I’m a widow, a mother and a grandmother.

I learned to fend for myself and not let the authorities make me get dependent on them. I can easily make a living deep down in the swamplands if need be.

I have known most of what you’ve said based on our discussions here and you mentioning these details about yourself.
I am also cursed with having photographic memory. lol
I didn't know about you being Catholic though and you also mentioned that a few days ago. I thought you were Protestant.

You embody a lot of the fierce individualist and proud spirit that’s common in many Americans when it comes to doing things themselves.

This is the part that I’m mentioning in regards to culture.
Where I come from, we do things on a family-basis.
Meaning that if we are in trouble or need help we ask the extended family first and the family helps us, with a job, with money or anything literally.
This is how it works where I come from.
Of course these ideas have been ruined a bit with the new generation but the culture is still there , hard and ingrained that family comes first. This whole family thing is as deep as many American traditions basically which includes hot dog and apple pie.
People are also not shy or too proud to get government help too because they see the government as a place where they are supposed to help people in need and in US this may be viewed as a “shameful” thing where you’re supposed to do everyone on you own and alone without anyone’s help.
