It was a mess caused by ALL OF THEM..........IMO

(I would have loved to hear Zelenskyy tell Trump that he could whistle Dixie 'cause there are a whole lots more Countries want the Rare Metals Ukraine has......just saying)

It was an embarrassing display of Diplomacy by all three of them.

I agree. They’re running on emotions.

They would all have been better off if they had been using translators. That would have mitigated the tension. It’s not a good idea either to enter a diplomatic meeting speaking in a foreign language without a translator.

One might could in addition argue that both Trump and Vance should have been equipped with translators so people from other countries stood a chance to understand their not exactly standard English accents.

It stood out even more in the Fox interview when Zelensky kept looking off camera and asking his translator what words meant. There were several words but "regret" really stuck out when they ask if he regretted how it worked out and he had to ask the translator to define regret to his language before he could answer. I've never seen a media covered peace negotiation and after this one it don't look like the best of ideas with this one turning into a Jerry Springer episode on live TV.

When Obama got elected, Michelle Obama said it was the first time she felt proud of her country. After seeing that spectacle, I have to say it's the first time I've truly felt embarrassed by my country.

On one hand Russia is a villain towards Ukraine.
And
We have a treaty with Ukraine that directly addresses Russian aggression to Ukraine.

The other side:
Ukraine is a piece of the American Deep State with every vile thing imaginable being perpetrated there from underage child sex slaves to money laundering.

Otherwise there are no real economic or friendship ties with Ukraine. If Ukraine disappeared we wouldn't notice a bit....we don't get anything from them or sell them anything. Lots of corruption in their Government and it has completely undermined their war efforts in many ways.
**************************

So....
There are repercussions for breaking our treaty with them. Not all are going to show up imminently. But it's gonna cost us.

We COULD make friends with Ukraine....but it's going to be difficult at this point. Mineral rights are not enough....we need more than a couple mines.

I thought it was a setup after I saw Marco Rubio sitting their looking like that when the question "Why aren't you wearing a suit" was asked and THAT was IMO the què for Vance to start the aggressive talk towards Zelenskyy about Zelenskyy not saying thank you and then I looked at Trump and something was off about him too.

I'm curious now to see if Zelenskyy will come back after he was IMO setup like that?

Zelensky was asked BEFORE the meeting to please wear a suit to the Oval Office.
So right off the bat that disrespect set the tone.

I never watch the news, but I did see a YouTube video which documented the "heated exchange" between the three parties.

In my estimation, JD portrayed himself as a fraudulent, showboating jack-ss.

I would not trust him to watch my bicycle while I went grocery shopping, and I definitely would not trust him to run this country in the President's absence.

We'll need to re-write the list of dumbest reasons wars started now. Dumbest reason ever, WW3 begins after Zelensky doesn't understand he was suppose to wear certain clothes to the White House sparking enough rage that everyone's feelings were hurt to the point millions upon millions of ordinary people perished.

The full meeting.

I feel there's something about Zelensky that doesn't feel right. He's not the lamb beset by the Putin wolf like he wants us to believe.

May 2024, BBC reporting
War and popularity keep Zelensky in power despite term expiring
20 May 2024

Under martial law that was declared in Ukraine after Russians invasion, Zelensky stays in power indefinitely. He's essentially a dictator.

Peace would stop that.
