If CC had crashed, you would not have been able to make a thread about it. ;)

Sometimes the chat applet goes down is all. It's old software, but Robo is the man!

It crashed a few times yesterday. There was a long code after a fatal error message that appeared on the page where the CC homepage should have been.

How does this happen?

The server where this site is hosted, is also hosting other sites. That's how they make money.
So the server gets busy sometimes, during busy hours with high visitor traffic and then services shut down from the flow of traffic.

I'm aware they would have multiple sites on the server. I was thinking the fatal error was something more than just a server overload.

Yes, good question.
It appears that the database and the forum files are on two different servers.
So when the site was up, the other server where the database was stored was down.
This is why we got the fatal error this time.
This happens on other software forums too such as PHPBB. I know this because i used to run one.
I also ran a Xenforo for a while too.

I looked this error up.

It appears in part to be related to search engine bots crawling the site causing increased connections and possibly
high loads. That is the only explanation for those sites listed above having pages indexed with the error.

It's related to selinux. Setting selinux in /etc/selinux/config to disabled allows
it to work. People who need it enabled may have to make an exception.

Well, the first explanation made me wonder if the new Logos software has anything to do with it.

That was enabled/brought into effect a week ago last Tuesday.

It now hyperlinks every verse citation to open an app when hovered over.

The modification of the BODY Template which displays the formatting of this forum may also cause the issue, but when the error above says the path to the database on the server (which happens to be Linux) it usually means that the database is down.

It is the first time that i saw that error here too, i usually see the Cloudflare page when the site is down but this time we saw something different and it's similar to what i've seen in the past when the database server is down but the other server where the forum software is running, is up.

Of course a forum Admin here can confirm all of this.

You may be giving too much credit to forum admin LOL.

But, yeah, I had never seen that fatal error before either...

It sounded rather... dire.

There's nothing more "fatal" than the windows blue screen of life.
With the new versions of windows 10 and 11, they even gave it a sad face because the programers are millenials.

Aww the sad face is so cute, it makes you forget that the computer crashed and you feel 'cozy' about it.

i got the blue screen of life yesterday on my laptop!

only for a few seconds, then a restart, then all was well.

turns out, the laptop was starting to overheat, so i made sure that did not happen again, but it is a sinking feeling when it happens!

A very good purchase would be a fan tray to keep your laptop cool. Or
maybe they are called cooling pads. Excessive heat will kill your laptop.
