ok so you had to believe in that is a verb meaning it was done by you meaning also you accepted him. the scriptures do not say accept but they do say believe to believe in something is to accept the truth of something

so you did have something to do with your salvation you had to believe in him meaning you accpeted what was done for you
I had nothing to do with my salvation. I did believe into Him, but I didn't birth my belief...God did. The source of faith is not an individual; it is God. Faith comes BY hearing, and hearing BY the word of God. That word...BY...tells us how it came to be. It doesn't say BY me doing anything.

the key point is that you had to believe in to recieve your salvation so by believing which was done by you in that regard yes you had something to do with your salvation everything else was done for you all that was needed from you was to believe and thus accept your salvation the gift that is that is salvation by which was done for you but you did have to make the active choice to believe that is my point

If you feel better about having a part in your salvation I'm not going to object. But I believe that God did it all and I simply happened to be the recipient of His activity.

When it says we are seated in heavenly places with God in Christ, do we do anything to make that happen? Or do we simply find this to be true of us?

you do understand that believing is a verb correct? an active deicision? so was it on your part that you believed or not?

Yes I believed, but what I believed was birthed in me by the Spirit and the word of God.

What do you believe it means that the gospel is the power of God unto salvation?

exactly what it says it is the power of God unto salvation that is what it means what is being questioned isn't the source itis whether one can actively choose to recieve it or not.

You keep using the term accept. The Bible uses the term receive. Additionally, in relation to the term receive, it specifically says it is not received by the will of man, but the will of God.

However you reconcile this is fine by me. I appreciate the discussion. Thanks.

You are correct Blain.

To be clear "saving faith" is not gifted by God.
There are places where faith is strengthened in scripture but this is not "saving faith" but the faith of the believer and is in conjunction with using the gifts that come with salvation.

Saving faith is not birthed in the person my God, the new life is birthed in the person after the person exercises faith/belief in the work Christ Jesus completed for each individual person.

One has to hear the Gospel, and the Gospel does NOT require special additional inward spiritual gnosis to be understood, be persuaded and acted upon.

His completed work is the gift received by faith.

And yes, we do receive it which is what makes it a gift.
This is what scripture plainly teaches.

In Ephesians 2:9 Faith is not part of the gift, it is through faith.
That means is faith/belief is the condition that God sets and the structure in Greek supports this interpretation.
As well nowhere does regeneration, quickening etc., precede faith in scripture.

The power of God unto salvation for whom? Even you say the natural man does not choose.

Romans 8:29-30

"For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified."

🔹 Faith is part of God's calling, and those whom He calls, He also justifies and glorifies.

Philippians 1 verse 29a + Romans 8 verse 17b ~ For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for Him. Indeed, we suffer with Him, so that we may also be glorified with Him.

I think maybe they just misunderstand what you mean by that it seems to happen a lot
Blain you can quote dozens of Scriptures to those people and they ignore, contradict and outright deny deny deny them.

If it was simply a matter of misunderstanding, you might think someone would ask. How many do you think do?

No, in fact many of them rush headlong into tossing out erroneous assumptions and false accusations instead.

Like the guy who repeatedly accuses me of claiming God hates humanity when I have never said any such thing.
