I posted this on the Ladies forum already, but I thought it would be interesting to get men's views on it too.

Simple questions:

1. What are your thoughts on today's female celebrities and how they affect young people?

2. Would/do you let your kids listen to/watch celebrities like Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, etc.?

3. Do you think the effect promiscuous "role models" have on young girls is just as bad on young boys?

1. They are allowing young ones to imitate lustful practices. Children always look up to celebraties, sometimes they even try to be like them. Batman and Robin were/are role models of the past and kids liked to jump off the sofa in hopes of imitating super powers, let's hope they don't drop their clothes in hopes of a good cheer. Even if it is not taking to this extreme, is this allowing our children to think on good things, pure things? (Philippians 4:8) I think not.

2. No. (Proverbs 22:6)

3. They can cause some men to lust after them and commit adultery with them in their hearts (Matthew 5:28). The bible tells girls to be modest in their apparel (1 Timothy 2:9), not provocative.

Off-topic: I am not sure Lady Gaga is even a lady, most people believe it is a transvestite and that lady gaga is infact a man. That would be even worse. :(

Funny you mention that, my little brother did exactly that when he was little and ended up splitting his scalp open.

I agree with everything else you said.

From a post on the THREAD "WHAT IS BAAL WORSHIP TODAY" on this forum:

THE MUSIC INDUSTRY not 'MERE' IDOLATRY

(we even have a TV Show "American IDOL")

I chose the following (3) videos as simple INTRODUCTION to the Kraft. There are many
more, most that show details and particular performers, the use of symbols and ritual -
these can be helpful to those who doubt and you are encouraged to seek as the spirit
leads.

The concept here is to reveal the truth, to ask understanding of those in these industries:
(*Music, *Sports, *Entertainment),
to share these truths with others, and to pray that you will be led to a higher power, to
call others to understand these issues, and to 'turn the beat around' in the Industry:

And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our
God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD. Psalm 40:3

Demons Behind The Music Industry (Ex-Illuminatus explains)

And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the
book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and
hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and
tongue, and people, and nation; Revelation 5:9
What the music industry doesn't want you to know!!!!!!!!!

And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and
before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn
that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which
were redeemed from the earth. Revelation 14:3

There is nothing wrong with any of these people. They stand up for positive messages. Equal rights for homosexuals is a good thing. No one should be treated different. Hating someone that is different than you is the true evil and stupidity.

Read your Bible (not just the parts that support your opinions, but like, the whole thing).

What do 'equal rights for homosexuals' have to do with trashy female celebrities teaching our children to behave inappropriately?

'They stand up for positive messages'. Really? So now getting drunk and having sex are the 'positive' messages we should be sending to teens? Is that what your own parents taught you?

Hating a person and hating what a person DOES are two different things. Hate the sin, not the person.

Madonna came up on a CROSS in one of her concerts. WITH A CROWN OF THORNS...and a drop of blood on her forehead. Jay-Z, Kanye West, Katy Perry, they've all said they sold themselves to the devil. Katy Perry said she wanted to be the next "Amy Grant" but she said "the box was too small, so I sold myself to the devil." and Lady Gaga is extremely...she's demonic. All you have to do is look at her music videos. And she's immodest....EXTREMELY

your adjectives "trashy" and "inappropriate" are merely your opinion. It doesnt make it true or false, right or wrong.

That being said, I've never heard Lady Gaga or Katy Perry advocate sex or alcohol. Horror authors write all sorts of macabre tales of murder and death...do they go out and kill people personally for inspiration? I don't think so. As an artist, you are free to write about whatever you want. That is the beauty of art; It has no limits. If you interpret the songs to stand for those things, then, again, that is just your interpretation/opinion.

I see Lady Gaga standing up for the underdog. The little person who is bullied by the mindless masses. I see her standing up for what she believes in and that is not bad, it's noble.

Find me a quote where she is seriously telling teens to go out and do drugs and have orgies and then we'll talk.

As one final thought, Id like to bring up my favorite musician, Marilyn Manson. The same exact thing can be said for him. People don't understand his art or what he is attempting to get across. They are maybe too stuck on his appearence to fully appreciate the beauty of what he does. I also love Alice Cooper, who is a good christian, and Alice doesnt have a problem with these people. He's been there too. As a "shock rock" star, his job is to portray the villain role. And he even joined Manson onstage for a song.

So try to be a little more open minded. :)

I've already considered the possibility that it's not wrong for musicians/actresses to behave the way they do or sing/talk about the things they do. I thought about it, and I came to the conclusion that it's not doing society any favors. I would call that open-minded.

Well when you say "behave", remember that they too are only human. They are not always going to do be the best people, just as none of us are anyway. Now, the singing/talking about subjects is different, because that is plotting perfecting their art. And depending on the motives...or not even really...even if there are no motives....it's healthy to be challenged. I'm happy there are people out there pushing buttons and causing controversy. The best art has always been controversal, and it's a way to wake up all the dumb people around the world that are closed off to their little existance in the towns they live. Never thinking, always accepting at face value.

That is indeed a postive thing for society as far as I'm concerned. And even if it's not, a healthy balance is good. It SHOULDNT all be positive all the time...people need some negative things surrounding them. It helps them to know what they really do cherish and love. If there were no Satan, what need would there be for God? Evil can be good and Satan has kept churches in business all these years.

But the thing is, they're always putting themselves out there like that. Every single concert, almost every single song...

Out there like what exactly? I'm just curious...maybe I'm not seeing something you are. What is your problem with it personally? Do you have any song lyrics to post or anything concrete that would have substance to their character analysis?

Katy Perry herself said she sold her self to the devil. Kanye West and Jay-Z have both professed their commitment to the devil. How is Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance" not wrong? Umm...it's very disturbing on more than one level. And one of Katy Perry's songs (I forget which one) talks about how she got so high/drunk that she had to have someone else tell her what happened! And doesn't "Born This Way" talk about being gay? And that you're born gay? Umm I don't support the gays. The bible says being gay is wrong. So why should I listen to something that supports people being gay? And in one of Madonna's concerts, she came up on a cross. With a crown of thorns and a drop of blood on her forehead. That is EXTREMELY wrong!

I'm not going to post any actual lyrics. The Christian Chat rules say no worldly music/ungodly music. And I want to respect their wishes. Or else believe me, I'd be posting PLENTY of lyrics.

Katy Perry - nearly nude on her album cover Teenage Dream...
I'm sure there's provocative lyrics too, but I've things better to do than google a secular song writer.

Lady Gaga - "Born This Way" blasphemy banned from Lebannon and scoffed by even some liberal Christians.
New 'Born This Way' Album Banned by Lebanon as 'Offensive to Christianity', Christian News

Let's take it a step further. Have you seen Madonna and Britney Spears together on stage? They enjoy open sexual embraces for their audience. I suppose we should be open-minded and not nauseating at that as well.

I suggest you checkout "They Sold Thier Souls for Rock and Roll" the root of most rock music goes straight back to ancient pagan practices as well. You can see a lot of free material at this website: Welcome To Good Fight Theater
