Hey Everyone,

I enjoy keeping up on some elements of pop culture because it gives me a stepping stone to have conversations with my friends' kids, younger co-workers, etc. about the latest trends.

In a few of the financial Discords I sit in on, the Crocs shoe company was once a hot topic among the investment community. Some of the younger investors felt very enthused about its future prospects.

I realize Crocs have had their moment, but I personally don't know how far a company can go with a flagship product that's so easy to copy -- but that's just me.

I though it would be fun to see what our intrepid CC community thinks of these convenient, albeit, not exactly stylish, rubber shoes.

* What do YOU think of Crocs? Are they a yay or a nay?

* Have you found them to be durable? How often, if ever, have you had to replace them?

* Would you specifically look for the Crocs brand, or is any old knockoff good enough?

* Have you or your kids ever get into collecting those little, what do they call them, giblet accessories? (According the Google, the official name appears to be "Jibbitz.")

I have to admit those Pac-Man ones are adorable (I'm a sucker for 80's nostalgia,) but I'd rather have charms I could put on my backpack rather than on a pair of rubber shoes.

I have one pair of knockoff Crocs for when I step outside for brief outdoor chores. I like that they're so easy to slip on and off, and they don't go between the toes (I can't stand anything between my toes!)

I keep a clean pair of footwear to wear indoors, but when those wear out, I just might pick up a new "indoors only" pair of Crocs.

What about you? :) I'm going to try to write a multiple-choice, visible-answers poll, but polls only allow about 10 answers so come back and defend your choices in your post!

Just a fun, nonsense thread to kick off the weekend!

I once had a pair of purple crocs that had a sort of 60s floral cut-out on the top part, which
I thought, hey, it would be neat to have my feet tanned with that pattern on them. LOL.
Bad idea. Maybe there is just something about feet or my feet in particular, because generally
speaking they have given me some problems over the years, but now? Now my feet are so oddly
freckled and they just look weird. I barely remember what the crocs were like for comfort, but they
must have been comfortable because I know I wore them for a while. In those days it was either
sandals or boots for me. Now I mostly wear sneakers and slip on type of running shoes.

I'm not personally a fan of Crocs, but I have a dear friend who wears them for health/mobility reasons. When my mother was alive, she also liked wearing them because they were easier on her feet. And a friend I used to work with wore them because as she told me, "They are the only thing that doesn't cause me pain." So, even though I'm not a Crocs person, I'm glad they exist for people who want and even need them.

I wear flip flops inside and sneakers outside. I have a well worn pair of sneakers for yardwork/projects and a better pair for doing errands, going for walks, etc.

A few days ago, I saw this short by AdamW and your thread reminded me of it lol

I've heard friends and family members swear by them and podiatrists criticize them. I would trust personal experience in this case.

I find it interesting how personal footwear can be. I love that Crocs can be such a blessing for people who need something easy to slip into and are comfortable.

I used to love going barefoot but my feet are as flat as a duck and very sensitive, so I find that as I've gotten older, I have to wear some kind of footwear at all times (hence the few pairs of footwear reserved for only wearing indoors.) My toes are also extremely sensitive and that's why I hate any kind of shoe that has anything going between the toes.

Anything designed for "arch support" usually hurts my flat feet, because a curve makes it feel like my feet are being folded. Yet at the same time, the best sole I ever had was the Skechers version of slightly curved "rocker shoes", because the sole was good and thick, but flexible.

Converse shoes are murder on my feet because they're so stiff, while those shoes that are as thin as socks exacerbate the shock of every step because they're so thin.

I've tried other "rocker" style shoes but Skechers was the best I had found so far. When they were discontinued, I bought as many pairs as I could at the time.

I am now on my last pair, and when they fall apart, I'll be back to the dreaded "Goldilocks" hunt of trying to find another brand and style that's "just right."

I don't get those socks that have toes. LOL. They look uncomfortable! Why have the toes separated?
It's not like gloves where we need to have fingers operating individually. And a pain to put on, surely?
I don't want to spend time encasing each toe. Haha In fact I love wearing shoes without socks. Though
come to think of it, it seems to be a trend with men now, but that is different. Dress shoes with no socks?
Come on, guys! Surely you can do better than that. No socks with dress shoes looks tacky. Just wrong LOL

I appreciate it when there is a person like @seoulsearch, a rare bird who isn't afraid to ask the more important and sometimes controversial questions in life. Where a person stands with Crocs is important because it says a lot about where the world is headed. Definitely eschatological in nature. Plastic shoes? You won't find them on my feet! Yuck. Eze 29:3 indicates that crocs are monstrous. I'm gonna side with Scripture on this topic...

Growing up out in the country, I went barefoot almost everywhere. I had to wear shoes to school and to other certain places, but everywhere else you'd only find me barefoot...in the woods, climbing rocks, walking in streams, on trails, dirt roads, gravel roads, etc. In my late teens/early 20s, I decided I wanted my feet to look nice. So, I stopped going barefoot. I miss those days though.

I like them even though they're kinda ugly. My affinity for them is purely for comfort though. I have messed up feet and it's really hard for me to find shoes that are comfortable but crocs don't hurt me so therefore they're a winner in my books! I don't wear them out very often, but they are my house shoes. I've worn them all day every day for over the last year and they are in excellent condition.

One of the things I really enjoy about @Tall_Timber's participation in these threads is that he can LITERALLY find a Scripture for most anything we talk about -- but apply it in a totally novel way! :geek::D;) (At least, I've never heard any sermons about how Ezekial 29:3 is a stand against Crocs, but hey... I guess I have to be prepared for the "renewing of the mind," no matter how it sneaks up on me!)

And as for asking "sometimes controversial questions..." Who, me? Pity my poor Sunday school teachers when I was a kid.

I'm hashing out another thread idea for the future -- I get ideas, but have to really work to process them into something that can be built into a conversation -- and one of the CC friends I bounce ideas off of said, "Do you REALLY want to stir that pot?!"

Well... I mean.

It's kind of what I do.

FORGET being born with a "silver spoon."

I'm pretty sure I was born with a VERY large paddle.

They do no good in the swamplands. Can’t hold out a snake bite. In the city I’m so obsessed with vanity that I’m not even near wearing them.

Uhm…but I have to confess that I own a pair…uhm…uh…in fact several pairs strictly for…ehm…uh…

I might confess I buy six pairs a year, cough, only for decorative purposes—strictly for decoration, I say!

Yep, uhm, me too…😳😂
It's ok, ladies!

This thread is a safe space -- no judgments here! :D

Besides, the Bible says that confession is good for the soul.

Oh boy, I’m even mowing the lawn wearing those things even though the manual recommends more solid footwear lol.
