Impressive that people are compliant/in agreement when a billionaire who tells them the sacrifices they need to make, is this the new USA?

I think it is important to differentiate between personal impact and the impact of this administration actions on the American economy as a whole.

There is a vast debt expansion going on and at some point it will implode.
Notice how the war(s) did not end in a day.

But yes, time will tell, but when one sees this debt expansion (1.32 trillion) I think that the trend analysts, are right and it will be far worse than 2008, possibly much worse than the Great Depression.

Somehow, people have this illusion that the "prez" is working on their behalf and saving America. lol
It is the classic historical behaviour of a world power, it will not go down without a fight, leaving even more destruction in its downward path.
This is the reason your country is struggling so bad, let me help you rewrite your travel magazine so that it works"

"Welcome to the New USA: A Nation at the Crossroads of Dreams and Debt"

Come for the landmarks, stay for the paradoxes.

The United States today is more than just majestic national parks and buzzing metropolises — it’s a real-time case study in power, perception, and political theater. Witness a nation where billionaires shape public sentiment and everyday citizens cheerfully shoulder the weight of trillion-dollar sacrifices. Compliance or charisma? You decide.

Travel through a land where the line between personal impact and national policy is as vast as the open plains. Feel the tension of an economy riding the razor’s edge of unprecedented debt expansion — $1.32 trillion and counting — a slow-burning fuse that economists warn could spark something more catastrophic than 2008, perhaps even the Great Depression itself.

Explore the enduring myths of American leadership, where belief in a savior-in-chief persists, even as global power dynamics shift and history quietly repeats itself. Wars don’t end in a day — and neither does an empire’s decline.

This isn’t just a vacation. It’s a front-row seat to a defining moment in history. Visit the United States — where optimism thrives, even in the shadow of collapse.

You go online, you pick your size, your color, your style, whatever, and you order it. Once you order it the 3d printer makes your shoe, boxes it, they stick a label on it and it is shipped to your home. It is faster and cheaper than going to a store and you get what you want rather than what they have. Retail is often a very big markup, so they cannot compete on price or selection. That is probably good for 95% of the shoppers.
That is not what I meant.
People buy certain brand for a variety of reasons.
If this were not true, there would be no need for marketing.

I am impressed how you change your rhetoric.

If you can make Adidas by a 3d printer you can do the same with Nike, and Converse. They will have to compete with each other on choice, service and price. Now with 245% tariff you can't possibly sell them if they are made in China.

That wasn't me, that was ChatGPT, I asked it to rewrite it as a travel magazine piece.

I have not changed my rhetoric, I think Trump was far better than the alternative. That doesn't mean I think Trump is good, or that our future will be butterflies and unicorns, only that it is far better than the alternative.

Think of this as a horror film and the villain is giving you two choices on how you want to die, one is a miserable, cackling, idiot that treats you like you are in kindergarten. The other is like the guy running a three ring circus, it is big, it is bold, it is entertaining and it is funny. That is the far better way to die. :)

I'm, frankly, thankful to have a few hard-working billionaire businessmen at the helm telling us what needs to be done and doing what's necessary to make the national business successful again. The hard fact is that others have driven the business into the ground for dumb ideologies and criminal personal wealth and power.

The turn-around assuming it's successful and it may not be is almost like tearing down the mess to the foundations and rebuilding.

Some self-sacrifice never hurt anybody. In fact, it's foundational to our Faith. If some were better taught the concept, it's amazing what the long term can be with a little self-control and wisdom gained from listening to the successful for time proven principles.

Yes, debt is a problem. It's been a problem for a long time. How is anything built upon debt ever to be ultimately successful?

What's this got to do with you? You're Canadian.
The new USA also happened a few years ago when the left decided that a man is a woman or an animal of some kind and all the kids under 18, who legally can't do anything ... somehow they could be allowed to change their sex.
But you wouldn't know anything about the new USA since you're not American and you live in Canada.

For now. I think she is starting to warm to the idea of being part of the USA.

BTW Canadians are Americans.

I agree
She’s been trying to fit-in since high school.

Also I would argue that only US citizens can exclusively use the term “American” since we’re #1.
Everyone else will be corrected for their lack of knowledge in geography.
This is why we are able to rename oceans and peninsulas, because we’re #1 and because Trump is a stable genius.

-Oh, Biden has banned drilling in the Gulf of Mexico?

For this point forward it shall be called Gulf of America , and we don’t need to explain ourselves what America is geographically because we’re number 1 and everyone knows we’re number 1.

meh, nobody really likes the USA, shining city on the hill is laughable now.
(Iraq, Libya, Syria, Afghanistan, Guatemala, Iran, Vietnam etc., )

Russia invaded a sovereign country, but different rules apply to the USA, oh right spreading liberal democracies across the Globe.

The world is moving on, away from the US currency and reorganizing and USA will go the way of all the other empires, taking Canada with it, will not save it.
Barely lasted 200 years, some argue the Roman Empire lasted approximately 1400 years

I think judgment is at your door.

The Egyptian empire holds the current world record for the length of time by 3000 years.
So Rome is #2 or #3 depending on historian arguments between the length of time of Roman empire or Byzantine empire.

Cleopatra in fact has been credited by historians to play Romans like a fiddle.
3000 years of empire experience can do that.

Dave Ramsey. If we have been living outside of our means......It's going to take discipline and sacrifice to get back to a solid foundation.

Live like no one else now, so you can live like no one else later.
