He looked one more time at the letter he had just received, his body too heavy to move from the chair on which he sat. Tears blurred his vision." Would things ever get better? Would they?" he muttered as he looked up.

Over the past two years, his life had been in a downward spiral. First, he lost his mother, who had been his greatest source of support, then came the unexpected dismissal from his job. When he was interrogated by the Managing Director of the company he worked in about a business deal that had just been closed, he had admitted to handing over a particular cheque to one of the office staff as he had been instructed to, and although his intention was to be honest, the consequences were swift. He was fired before he could implicate the others who were also involved.

His fiancée had chosen to end their relationship one month after his dismissal from work. She said she was sorry, and that although she once believed she had heard from God concerning his proposal and their relationship, she now felt God was saying something different. He had been too stunned to respond. Before he could gather his thoughts, she picked up her bag and walked out of the eatery where they had been sitting. She never answered his calls after that day.

It seemed that with each passing month came a new challenge, each one more threatening to his peace, his stability, and his very survival, and now, here he was again, holding another letter of dismissal. The company had cited the harsh economic climate and the need to cut down on staff, and, wonder of all wonders, he was among those selected to go.

He had been struggling to pray for some weeks now. The burdens were getting heavier and heavier, yet whenever he knelt down or opened his mouth to pray, words seemed to elude him.
When he got home, he knelt down again, but his mouth were still too heavy to speak. He knew that today just had to be different from the others; he was at the end of his rope. He tried speaking again, but tears were the only thing that ran down his face. He tried once more, and this time, a whisper escaped his lips: “God, please, help me!”

Just then, (Matthew 11:28) dropped in his heart: “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
That was all he needed. Suddenly, words began to flow without restraint from his mouth. As he laid his burdens at the feet of Jesus, about an hour later, he felt as though the weight of the world had been lifted from his shoulders.

The challenges right? They didn’t cease immediately, but he had hope again. He was able to face the present and future again. His unbelief had melted away and one prayer at a time, one verse of the Bible at a time, one promise of God at a time, one step of faith at a time, his life began to feel and become better and brighter again. Christ had given him His rest in place of the burdens he had been
carrying.

Dear you,
I can see the weariness in your eyes, the heaviness you carry, but there is a God with arms wide open, ready to give you the rest your soul longs for.
You’ve tried to do life on your own for so long. It’s time to let go, give Christ your burdens, and receive His peace today.
Remember this as well, one prayer at a time, one verse of the Bible at a time, one promise of God at a time, one step of faith at a time... and your life will begin to feel better and become brighter once again.

God's blessing.
