Have you looked at the purpose of the baptism of the Holy Spirit? In effect, it is power for serving in God's kingdom. Unbelievers can receive a touch from the Lord, but that is not the same as the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

Lord Jesus spoke of the coming Holy Spirit several times. Acts 1:4 & 5 tells the apostles to wait for the Holy Spirit. When the Holy Spirit was given, the word tells us that the believers were filled with the Spirit (Acts 2:4). The Holy Spirit is not going to fill an unclean vessel.

I witnessed two people receive a touch from the Lord. One was my step daughter. She shook it off and has never accepted Christ, in spite of that experience. Another one was a young woman who came "seeking God". She also chose not to accept. My wife was talked into "receiving" the Holy Spirit but she was not even saved at the time. She ended up with a fake "tongue". She later was born again, baptised in the Holy Spirit and still speaks in (real) tongues 40 years later.

the purpose I see, new life given from God Father through risen Son too love everyone, not accuse or excuse even self, Which cannot be taught to flesh nature, I die to the first born me willingly and rest in true to the King of Kings, Lord of Lords, to stand still to go forward, not backwards as if I have not been given everything I need for life and Godliness
I trust God, not ever knowing how, when or where. Such as the wind blows, where it came from and where it goes next, another one says I am willing Lord or not and the Angels rejoice over one sinner that turns to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, in service to Father and Son, at least to me, after a long walk off a short pier, then carried in and out like a wave of the sea. To hear God, believe God and get pulled out, learn g new from every thought and mistake made
God Tongues, Is wow to me, and yes one cn hear and speak as The Holy Spirit God teaches us to listen, having two ears to hear twice as much as speak
Still in process and trust to God to reach us all, and not have tom have anyone to do that for us, unless willing to do so from Daddy himself to me anyway

I would rather speak five words of understanding over a thousand words in tongues that others do not understand. Seek to prophesy to tell the love of God for all, not a few. Their are no select groups of esoteric knowledge
So, if speak in tongues, see it between God and you personally, thank you
Now, if there is a gathering where tongues get spoken, there better be interpreters
I know of a person, that was raised pentecostal, raised in Pentecostal, Got told over and over again he had to speak in tongues or he was not saved.

So, he thought up his own tongues, practiced them throughly, went to the gathering and spoke
Talk about rewarded, he assuredly was praised over it. Most people feel accepted and do not tell truth in what they did, feeling accepted, do not say they are faking it, because of the price they get from the people, feelings leading
When all said and done, He, told the truth in what he had done and fooled them all, Then walked away
Amazing, they got revealed the selfishness of us all in the first born flesh bodies we are in
I love God, do I, do you? Or are you wanting acceptance of others that claim they know God?

All flesh means everyone on the planet. The Holy Spirit works on everyone to convict them of sin, righteousness and judgment. Muslims are having dreams from God leading them to Jesus. I had a vision that led me to Jesus. I agree that such interventions by the Holy Spirit can be rejected. The Holy Spirit certainly is able to work in believers who are cooperating with Him more than He works through unbelievers whom He is working on to convince them that Jesus is Lord and Saviour. But I don't think God is bound to operate within the limitations we imagine a holy God should operate within.

The Baptism of the Holy Spirit is an experience reserved for born again believers. This is obvious from scripture. It is possible for some to have an experience with God prior to being born again. When I was 12, God answered my prayer to the word. I was terrified. It was not supposed to happen. Other genuinely spiritual experiences are not uncommon. God is merciful and gracious. However, that is not the same as being baptised in the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit was poured out because the Lord Jesus was glorified. The Holy Spirit is present when the gospel is preached. That is not the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

You may think I'm being pedantic, but there is a great deal of deception. I knew someone who assumed that they were saved as a result of a "spiritual" experience. They were literally picked up and thrown several rows of seat back. That was a sign to them that they were saved. Rubbish. Accepting Christ as saviour and Lord saves, not some tingling feeling or physical manifestation. Genuine spiritual experiences such as dreams from God lead people to Christ. If they do not lead to Christ, they are fake and demonic.

There are accounts of people falling over and getting up speaking in tongues. They were coming to a meeting that was promoting the Holy Spirit and not preaching Christ crucified. Those people believed that they were saved (Pensacola, if my memory is correct). This was during the time of the so-called Toronto Blessing, a deception straight from the pit of hell. No, God does not baptise dead flesh in His Spirit.

There are gifts and there is fruit. They are not the same. It help to keep that in mind. I've met people with genuine gifts that show little fruit. The problem with gifts is that pride often rises up. That hinders the fruit of the Spirit from being expressed.

There are gifts and there is fruit. They are not the same. It help to keep that in mind. I've met people with genuine gifts that show little fruit. The problem with gifts is that pride often rises up. That hinders the fruit of the Spirit from being expressed.

Yes, and all genuine believers are known by the HS's loving fruit, whereas the gifts of service vary from believer to believer and may even be evident in non-believers, although they fail to glorify God for such ability--with the musical gift being an example (cf. Exod. 31:3-6, 1Chron. 29:14-16, 2Chron. 1:9-12, Psa. 150:1-5, Col. 3:16).

I understand "speaking in other tongues" in Acts 2:4 to refer to speaking in unlearned foreign languages, "they heard them speaking in tongues" in Acts 10:46 to refer to be unclear because "other" is missing, and "they spoke in tongues" in 19:6 likewise to be unclear for the same reason.

I understand the dearth of references to tongues in epistles other than 1 Corinthians to imply that it was unimportant by the close of the apostolic era, and I understand Paul's references to tongues in 1Cor. 12-14 to downplay their importance because they were more problematic than edifying.

I suspect that charismatic conjure up tongues along with miracles because they are not content to walk by faith,
although after trying to learn Spanish for fifty years if God suddenly enabled me to be fluent I would be duly impressed!

So, "I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh" in a prophesy from 800 years earlier must mean "I will pour our my spirit upon only believers in Jesus Christ" because some of the prophecy referred to God's manservants and maidservants doing certain things after the Spirit was poured out on all flesh. That doesn't make logical sense.

The president says,
"I am changing the law to require that religious freedoms are a civil right for all. Christians will be able to share their faith and Muslims will be allowed to convert to other religions." By your logic, "all' means only Christians and Muslims.

It makes perfect biblical sense, because the NT teaches that the HS is given only to believers/Christians/spiritual Jews/Messianic Muslims and that all who do not have the HS are not believers/etc.

theres aren’t two baptisms there there’s baptism n Jesus name for remission of sins and then there’s a gift one receives from Jesus the holy ghost. And also it’s not a product of being baptized but of belief notice this example also

what john said was before Jesus accomplished everything so baptism wasn’t yet one meaning the spirit hadn’t been given yet until after Jesus ascended and poured it out like John was meaning .

“(But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)”

Notice now in acts 2:38 the promise reflects Jesus baptism when he was baptized then the spirit descended on him then god said “this is my son in whom I’m well pleased “

we’re baptized in his name for remission of sins

The holy ghost is a promise made by Jesus that after he rose he would send his spirit to fill believers. That’s what John meant by baptize with the Holy Ghost he was saying Jesus would give them the Holy Ghost pour it out upon them fill them with himself through his spirit

The one baptism Paul’s talking about is the one Jesus commanded his disciples to do which is baptism in Jesus name for remission of sins, it’s the basis of Christian doctrine

Notice Jesus is talking here also about the same gift

“and said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. And ye are witnesses of these things. And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.”

To look back to before Jesus eve preached or died or rise and gave his spirit wondering why baptism isn’t yet complete is sort of like missing the entire doctrine of baptism for remission of sins they all talk so much about

It’s really crazy how entangled and woven in baptism for remission is in the doctrine of the apostles .

One baptism which includes receiving the Holy Ghost

“And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan. And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him: and there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

theres aren’t two baptisms there there’s baptism n Jesus name for remission of sins and then there’s a gift one receives from Jesus the holy ghost. And also it’s not a product of being baptized but of belief notice this example also

“To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins. While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. what john said was before Jesus accomplished everything so baptism wasn’t yet one meaning the spirit hadn’t been given yet until after Jesus ascended and poured it out like John was meaning .

“(But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)”

Notice now in acts 2:38 the promise reflects Jesus baptism when he was baptized then the spirit descended on him then god said “this is my son in whom I’m well pleased “

we’re baptized in his name for remission of sins

The holy ghost is a promise made by Jesus that after he rose he would send his spirit to fill believers. That’s what John meant by baptize with the Holy Ghost he was saying Jesus would give them the Holy Ghost pour it out upon them fill them with himself through his spirit

The one baptism Paul’s talking about is the one Jesus commanded his disciples to do which is baptism in Jesus name for remission of sins, it’s the basis of Christian doctrine

Notice Jesus is talking here also about the same gift

“and said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. To look back to before Jesus eve preached or died or rise and gave his spirit wondering why baptism isn’t yet complete is sort of like missing the entire doctrine of baptism for remission of sins they all talk so much about

It’s really crazy how entangled and woven in baptism for remission is in the doctrine of the apostles .

One baptism which includes receiving the Holy Ghost

“And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan. And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him: and there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

the holy ghost isn’t another baptism it’s a gift promised by Jesus to believers baptism is about remission of sins in his name who died for our sins

Did your reply include 1Cor. 12:13? If Paul had not said that, then I would agree that there is only WB,
but good luck getting the charismatics to agree!

However, I would still view WB as a symbolic rite portraying the burial and resurrection of Christ that is a good way/work
to confess faith Christ publicly (as I did), but can/should not be viewed as nullifying salvation by grace through faith per Eph. 2:8-10, because if it were required surely it would be stated as such throughout Paul's epistles.
