I see what you mean in a way. I am pretty new and the first couple boards I posted on I was totally ignored! People seem to branch off into their own little chats/debates.
I felt ignored at first, too. The only thing that kept me from leaving was the fact that I felt that God wanted me here (plus I didn't really come to the site looking for acceptance). I am just now starting to feel accepted, which is nice, and I realize that it takes time to get to know new members, so I understand and everything, it would just be nice to be able to support the good posts that don't quite deserve a rep point :) Rep points are a permanent testament to the poster's reputation, so I mostly just give them out when I know that the member gives consistently good advice, which seldom includes the new members, unfortunately :( "Likes", on the other hand, are only an endorsement of a specific post, which I have no problem with, even for new members (especially for new members!). That's all, folks! :D

It's harder to change some things than others, though RoboOp has said that as the new versions/upgrades for this site come out, he will get them and that he keeps in mind the things we suggest when they become available as options. I suspect that if donations were higher, it would be easier for the administrators to give us the things we want; please keep that in mind, everyone; upgrades aren't free :).

do you know this because of your extensive programing experience? or just saying it because you figure it must be true so you're just going to comment on it?

I have set up a few websites however I say it from the experience of a friend. He owns a business that designs websites for companies..... he said it would not be particularly challenging.

I don't like nor use Facebook, so despite the popular demand of a "like" button here, it would mean absolutely nothing to me; especially since I think the "rep" button is fine.

or even better an "Amen brother/sister" one???
Haha, now THIS is more original!

what about copying and editing whatever code there is for this and making a "praying" button?

Sometimes it feels a bit silly to write

Praying .

with lots of spaces just to make the post go through

I would appreciate a "disable 'Likes'" option in Control Panel; similar to the "disable Rep". :)

But...what if everyone likes his post just because it says not to? o.o
