Trump’s actions are rational, if, and there is a big fat “if”, when you consider his background.

He is a businessman and wants to make deals. First of all that makes him unable to mentally comprehend the complexity of dealing unilaterally. So he just scoffs at it.

The second thing is that he has no interest in strategical planning. It’s “learning” by doing. The main problem with this approach is that the adversaries in the long run will smoke him out.

The third thing is that the corruption, which is somewhat tolerated in the world of extremely rich businessmen, doesn’t look so good when you are elected to be the spokesman of the people.

The fourth thing is that the regime of tariff he is trying to impose will backfire. I know he is probably deploying these tariffs as a means of tactical advantage, but let’s for once be honest, it doesn’t work that way in world politics. We are the ones who by the end of the day will suffer the consequences.

The fifth thing is that his unpredictability is more of an advantage to Russia and China than to ourselves. We have to ask ourselves if letting those countries in will benefit us or the western world on a whole.

The sixth thing is that accepting gifts from an antisemitic state like Qatar, makes one wonder about his stance on Israel.

The seventh thing is that I can understand why Elon Musk is out in the cold. There’s no room for extremely intelligent people around this administration, at least not those who have the ability to see the broader picture.
Some things to discuss because we got nothing but time, right?
What politician is NOT learning by doing? I mean, can you give me a name of a politician who was 100% prepared to deal with politics since the moment he left law school and went into politics?

What aspect of the corruption looked good during the Biden administration? By putting lipstick on a pig?

The tariffs may or may not backfire. They're a game of poker. Who's going to fold first. And this is also related to loyalty. The Trump base is loyal to what Trump represents, a voice for the common man, and they will support him even if a dozen eggs become 100 dollars per box.

How is the element of surprise a bad thing when Russia knows that the West only plays one tune all day long?

I will leave the Israel stance alone since it's usually a topic that's not going to get us anywhere.

And good morning to you Susanna. :):coffee:

AOC is an extremist so I don’t really think she would make a good example.
Good point.
But even if we take an experienced politician who's been in government roles for half a century, like Biden for example, you will see that even someone like him learns as you go. Nobody knows anything for sure.
Mostly because politicians don't go there to serve but to promote their egos and to make more money.
So i don't think you're going to find your perfect candidate in this system which is now reduced to the "lesser of 2 evils".

Keep in mind. Trump has a lot of flaws, but he is in his own way rational. So I’m every day praying that nothing will happen to him, because the one I really fear is the VP.
Don't worry, Trump is going to live to be 120 years old and by then the leftist still won't have a clue how to beat him. :)

Did Biden learn? Was he even cognitively capable of it?

Don't look at his last chapter. Look at when he was young.
I have seen a documentay about him. He was a lawyer and followed all the steps and the school process. Then his wife and child died in a car accident. That was the motivation he said in the documentary to get into politics.

Now, what starts as a noble goal becomes clouded by confusion of the system where at some point you don't even know what you're fighting for or why you got in the first place. You have been chewed and spit by the system because you don't have a clear goal or objective.

Trump is very competitive and clear despite when they throw all kinds of accusations against him, lawsuit, jail and a 100 others things we know by now. He is clear. He wants to fight the establishment and for the common man.

I think the short term is that this man is the core heart of the idea of a police state. And I say this being a police sergeant and naval officer.
Susanna, i don't think you guys at the police station should complain about 'police states' since Bill Clinton signed a law back in 1996 or whenever which gave you guys military equipment so then the civilian world looks like this:

National Security Analyst, Joe Cirincione

Cirincione: Sure. I think national missile defense is the longest-running scam in the history of the Department of Defense. And what the Trump administration has now done is to revive an old, discredited idea, pump it full of new expectations, and market it as an instant fix to America’s vulnerability to ballistic missiles. This, of course, is nonsense.

Trump claims it’s only going to cost $175 billion, and it’ll be all done by the end of his term. Which is insane. You probably won’t even get the architecture of the system settled by the end of his administration.

Missile defense is an old idea that has been proven not to work, and it’s not for lack of effort. Ever since we deployed the first missile interceptors in 1962, we have spent over $531 billion on various failed missile-defense schemes. None have worked.

You know, I agree with the sentiment that the police should not be militarized.
