First of all; When you feel betrayed by someone it has a lot with your "trust" towards that person to do. And it is understandable that you loose trust in a person that doesn't do good towards you, that hurt you, lie to you, etc... Especially if you trusted that person a lot, it is painful whenever someone fails us, and break that trust we had about them.

The best way you can identify who will be trustworthy in the future, as well as loving you, it is through Christ Jesus. As in praying to Him about it, and telling him to let you know as well as healing you and helping you to building up again more trust in you. Now; people will disappoint us, hurt us as well as failing us at times in life, and this will not be something we can fully guarantee that people you will meet, no matter if it will be your wife or friends, that they will never ever fail us in some way, as in not always meeting our expectations, or disappointing us. We are human, and this can happen. Still, we sometimes need taking up own good attitudes, and as an Christian advicer told me once; Whenever we feel disappointed by our friends, spouse etc, we need to learn doing like the duck when getting water on it: "Shaking it off" and then "Moving on".

Broken trust is always needed to get builded up again, this doesn't happens in one day. For some people it might take shorter time to heal and rebuild up that broken trust within them, while for some other people it might take much longer time to heal and rebuilding up again that broken trust within them. God knows how much time there is needed for each one person, and He is in control with it. As long as we keep on trusting Him with it, and putting all our brokeness over to Him and let Him working with it. :)

Well said, sunflowerery, and, I would say that ,swai, IF you can give this betrayal by another to you , THEN God will bless you, that is, ENTRUST to you more things in the future, please remember EVERYTHING we have-material possessions, gf/bf- is from Him. :)
---God gives us ways to draw closer to Him, to have what He desires from us all- a perpetual , personal relationship with Him.

I recommend you search for gospel hymn, 'Because He Lives,'. because God wants you to know Him more and more and trials we go through are meant to strengthen our walks with God, the One who made us and obra plane for us-good plans for our future with great hope. Jer. 29:11. :)

Speaking, too , of your true love, there is only one love that will always be true to you, the Love of Jesus Christ. :) EVERYONE else in your life (at some point) al let you DOwn . The greatest Love in the world is God's.

A major factor i've learned in all this is that love really does make people blind... blind and stupid. I can't count the number of times i ignored red flags (warnings in peoples behavior) because i was 'in love' with them. I've recently come to realize how easily it is to overlook even major flaws in a person, or make excuses for them, because i let me emotions override my logic. Chances are there were signs of her behavior or attitude that you chose not to see, or some people are just bad at picking up on. But either way, rarely is it a case of no warnings. Really you just have to be willing to admit you either missed them, or ignored them. Then learn to be more aware next time.
So i guess i would say half of knowing 'true love' is recognizing the bad. Love, or lovey feelings, is easy to fake. Thats why it pays to learn to spot questionable behavior and attitudes and training yourself to face and deal with them, rather than excuse or ignore them.

"Being in love" and "Loving someone" has some differences in it, though... A couple that has been married for over 10 years might not be in the same stage of love as a couple that just met and fell in love with each others. The older married couple might have learned to love each other in a deeper sense as well as knowing about those negative flaws in each others that annoyes them at times, whilst the younger married couple still have a lot to learn and in the process they might either do as you say "overlook" those negative flaws or they might have "missed" them from the start on.

Now; Some of the reason for why there is so many divorces today is that many couples looks at their feelings, and it seems that many can easily say, "I don't love her/him anymore" or "I am not in love with her/him anymore" or "The love we had for each others is now gone", and then they say that it is best to divorce. So many misses the whole point of marriage in general, as marriage is not only about how we feel. I think many people thinks more about "going through good times" as something that they will experience a lot more than also "going through bad times"; And once their marriage dance of roses life goes over to the part where it becomes a lot more stormy, many of them somehow give up much too easily.

Marriage life will have it's up's and down's periods, something one should notice with the given promises "through good and through bad times" and not overlooking that fact of that these might come later in the future. And then knowing how to dealing with it together, as well as letting God come in and help.

Well for startes there is no other true love than the love of our Heavenly Father. Love between humans has always some catch ''I'll do this and then you'll do that for me''. Love of our God is unconditional, we cannot earn it, he just loves us with that unconditional love.
When it comes to love between man and woman, well we're all human, and we all make mistakes.

Sometimes momentary slips require one of the most powerful examples of true love: forgiveness.

I don't know what true romantic love is, but I do know what true friendship is. I also believe the gulf between passionate friendship and romantic love is not very wide.

True love is this:

To give your own life for those you love, even if they hate you and mock you and spit on you.

Jesus did this. What a great love.

Not to attack you Ramon, but if Swai uses that as his measure of true love then he'll be single and probably much more heartbroken than he is now.

....

Unfortunately, Swai, there really is no way to know if it is true love or not. The truth about love is that it is a constant thing. No one can truly know that they will always love you, so if they don't even know it, how could you? Love is an ever changing thing. It involves a million little choices, choices that you make each and every day of your life. I completely agree that only through Christ is it possible to truely love someone, so I would suggest that you start there when starting a relationship. Christ's love fills up a person, as they grow stronger that love overflows into their relationship. But be careful still, because people do change over time. If they grow distant from God, or worse, outright denounce Him, their love will likely dwindle as well. It's times when their love dwindles, or when they make a mistake, when they slip and fall when your love is most important. The greatest love requires the greatest sacrifice. In Jesus' case that meant his life. In some cases, at least for me, what is required seems much worse(more difficult) than dying.

Anyways, this isn't a direct answer to your question, but I believe the question is not so much of "if it is true love" because as I've stated above, I believe it isn't possible to know if it really is "true love." The question becomes instead "is loving this woman God's plan." As Sunflower stated previously, the only real way to discover the answer to that question is to pray that God show you His plan.

Hope this helps

Yes, indeed. much more heart broken indeed. And surely single indeed.

Jesus was much heart broken also, and surely single indeed. But he died for his bride to prove his love, heart broken over her running away from him despite his love for her.

In giving his life for her, he proved his love for her, though she goes off and does what she wants sometimes. It is the most powerful love ever! One that keeps the bride longing and waiting to see the bridegroom again!

She will not hope for another!

May Jesus bless you.
