Let’s be real; these days, many relationships start with a “Hey 😉” in the DMs, daily reporting to the person's DM, and boom! Suddenly it’s “I think they’re the one!”

But feelings fade, filters lie, and butterflies don’t build lasting love.

As Christians, we’re called to go deeper. Like deeper than late-night texts; we’re talking SPIRITUAL CONNECTION.
Before the dreamy this and that, we need to ask: Can we connect FAITH-TO-FAITH?
Because when Christ is the foundation, the love hits different. So if you want something holy, honest, and joy-filled, you really can't skip that question.

As a Christian, wanting to connect with the opposite sex on a spiritual level first means you desire a relationship that is rooted in shared faith, values, and a mutual love for God before allowing feelings or emotional attachment to grow.

So, before you even start talking about wanting to pray about someone, your first question should be:
Can we connect FAITH-TO-FAITH?
This is because sometimes, you meet someone and their charisma, fine face, killer smile, and LinkedIn-worthy achievements just sweep you off your feet, and before you know what’s happening, your mind has travelled; you’re naming your future kids, and planning the wedding colours in your head.

So Sis/Bro, before the butterflies come to your belly and you start writing “Mrs. Kingdom Spouse” in your journal... pause.
Ask yourself:
- Do we believe the same things about God?
- Can we actually pray together, worship together, grow together?
- Do our beliefs, values, and walk with God truly align?
- Have we both accepted Jesus into our lives and made Him the center of our lives?
- Do we agree on what the Bible says about love, purpose, and marriage?
- Is our idea of a godly relationship built on the same foundation?
- Would we both be serious about walking with Christ or would I be dragging someone spiritually if I eventually begin a relationship with this person?
- Will this connection bring me closer to God or confuse me spiritually/derail me from the heavenly path?

Because if your spirits can’t agree, your relationship will struggle to stand no matter how good they look in church clothes on Sunday.

Remember, faith-to-faith comes before face-to-face.
So don’t just look at the outside, look for spiritual alignment.
Because when the foundation is Christ, everything else can grow right.

Don't allow anyone pressure you please; the society, age factor and what have you? Take your time, pray, trust God for help, watch out for every colour of a flag, not just red flags.

God sees and knows a sincere heart. He'll never lead you astray as you sincerely seek His guidance in matters like these.

God bless you.

That's impressive. You made a whole long post that basically said "Make sure you are equally yoked" but you successfully avoided using the phrase "equally yoked" even once!

I'm not sure I really get what you're trying to say, but for me, the heart of the message is what really matters 🙂

that's quite the mature Christian message. a Christian counselor would teach this way.

Some people think being equally yoked just means make sure they're saved. The truth is, as you probably know, it goes so much deeper than that and I appreciate someone digging in a little more.
