I recently heard somebody say in the chatrooms that it is not possible to live a single day without sinning.

I am interested in seeing what others opinions are on this...So what do you think?

Jesus gave HIS LIFE so that we could overcome the sin which dwells in our flesh, by way of HIS HOLY
SPIRIT. If our sin nature can still control us, then Jesus died for nothing and the devil still has the
'inside track'. Any other doctrine preached is the same lie the serpent told Eve, that she could eat the
forbidden fruit (sin), yet still live (forever).

the person who said that is not been set free. If you are ''BOUND TO'' sin, you are ''BOUND BY'' sin, and if you are bound you are not free.

It is possible to live sinlessly, but you first must believe this is true, and then understand that it is Christ in you, and not you that is able.

Matthew 19:26 But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

Mark 9:23 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.

Ephesians 3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,

There's a difference between being totally enslaved to sin, and battling with it every day. I don't believe we are totally free from sin, there is no finality this side of eternity I'm afraid.

1 John 1:8 "If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. "

Go back a read the whole of 1st John with open eyes, and a receptive heart, and see if you come to the same conclusion. Jesus tells us he whom the son sets free is free indeed.....as in totally free.

I believe that if we are truly experiencing the new covenant, then we will have complete victory over sin. To be a full grown son, we must be made free. I believe Jesus has made us free, all we must do now is walk in our freedom. When people say that we are not to make sin a habit, but yet everyone sins, and will not be completely freed from sin until the resurrection. They do not truly believe (have faith in the fact) that the Son can make us free indeed.

1John 1:8 "If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us."

Some sin remains in every Christian’s life (“have,” present tense), even that of the elderly apostle John (“we”).

My friend if you feel you have "arrived" at the place of no sin, I would sincerely like to live with you a while.

According to Paul, in Romans he highlights that he's soul wants to do good, but his present body cursed with sin which opposes God's law.

Romans 7:14
We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin.

Romans 7:17
As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me.

Romans 7:18
know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature.c For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.

Romans 7
21So I find this law at work: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me. 22For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; 23but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members. 24What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? 25Thanks be to God—through Jesus Christ our Lord!

Note how he says "What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death?"

If you die (as a true christian) upon ressurection you will be given a glorified bodies which works in harmony with our soul which in this lifetime God is making holy, but the body will die as it is sinful amongst other issues.

I have'nt got an answer though, i will have to see what others think-

So our present bodies

To say it is possible to live a day without sin is not to say that we have no sin, that indeed would only be deceiveing ourselves.

I think that by saying we cannot live a single day without committing a sin is borderline condoning sin.

BUT, I also think that for somebody to say that they can live without sinning completely is setting themselves up for failure, self condemnation, and disappointment.

When we read the Bible, we read a message from God to us. We read the Word and find that the same writer writes two verses TOTALLY contradicting each-other…. Let us take two of these veses for the exercise to proof that BOTH is true and relevant if we know what to DO with these verses.

The best contradictional verses are: 1 John 1:8 VS 1 John 3:9.
1 John 1:8… 8If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
1John 3:9…. 9Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

Because both verses are used by different people, these veses caused MANY a people brake up and walk their own ways. If only God would give them wisdom on how to apply these verses they would NEVER disagree! Well this morning I think I was blessed with a vision. I hope this will help MANY people to take hands and GO to God for advice on how to unite as brothers and sisters, ALL SEEKING GOD!

This morning I saw three people studying the Word of God! One was a person, just starting to accept the Word of God as Truth. The second was a person well on his way through the Word, already learned quite a lot from God, but not all yet. And the last person was VERY well on his way to complete salvation, almost a saint, or maybe even past the saintship. (maybe sanctification was already complete for this person) Let us just call him MATURE in Christ.

Then I saw, that the WHOLE Word of God can be effective to teach and sanctify ALL three people on their sanctification process. The Word of God is written to teach the “young Christian” and the “mature Chrsitian”. It is a message that will introduce you to God! It is also a message that teaches of the fate of ALL people. And it is a message that opens up God’s hidden secrets, for the ones that are made “APT TO TEACH”

So this morning I learned that if we read 1 John 1:8, that verse is VERY applicable to the “young Chrsitian” letting him know….You got some way to go to get to know God and His will. So this person still need to be “Born of God”

And if I read 1 John 3:9, obviously this is to let the “new Chrsitian” know that once he is born of God he will mature to this! And this is a verse that explains why a person that is born of God does not sin… Because of the GODLY SEED in that person.

I found that when we read the Bible, we can apply all verses to three groups….

The first is for a sinner just starting his way with the Holy Spirit… The Bible refer to them as… 6Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil. (1 Tim 3:6) … Novice - one newly come to the faith……

The second is for peoplethat are starting to get deep into God’s proven Truths… Paul refered to it as people that should not be on milk like babies, but that they should have been on meat… 1And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. 2I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able….Note the BABE in Christ…

The Third is a group that obviously are MATURE in Christ. Their faith took them ALL the way to be: “BORN FROM GOD” these people has been taken all the way to where God wants them to be…. UNTO A PERFECT MAN!

Thank You Lord, I understand now that Your message is Truth, and perfect! Lord please show all who read this to rightfully descern the Word of God, AMEN!

Are we talking ten commandments here?
Or every degree of sin?
Which is simply any act of disobedience whether by commission or omission

I am concerned that you have you hat on one verse that in context of the passage it is in doesnt say we must continue to sin at all.

1 John Chapter 3
3And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.

4Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
5And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
6Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
7Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
8He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. 9Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

God's word says we can live without sin. Believing God is not deception???????

I agree

BUT, I also think that for somebody to say that they can live without sinning completely is setting themselves up for failure, self condemnation, and disappointment.
It could, but not if you heart is in the right place.

The first step to being perfected is to realize it is not us, but Christ is us and that we on our own would never be able to accomplish anything, only by the grace of God working is us and for us enables us to accomplish perfection. Even then it is not us, but the Holy Spirit working in us that accomplishes this, yet when we get to Heaven we get the credit. Good deal huh?
Philippians 3:3 For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.

Expanding on that thought made in Philippians 3:3 for one second Lue Engle quotes Mike Bickle in Lue's book ''Nasirite DNA''
''Nazitires who are not living with intimacy with the Lord also face the danger of self righteousness when they rejoice in their commitment to the Lord Jesus and not in Jesus Himself. Just like the Pharisee who despised the tax collector, in Luke 18:9, we will admire our own dedication while looking down on that of others. Too often we judge other by their actions, while judging ourselves by our intentions. The heart of those who rejoice in their own strength will end up in one of two pitfalls: either arrogance of accomplishment, like this pharisee, or self hatred as an unworthy son. Only embracing the grace of God to us with humility can help us avoid this''

We not only have to realize that it is God working in us and not our capabilities working for themselves, but we must serve God to the best of our ability out a pure heart of love growing in intimacy with Him, and not our of religious duty to be able to become what God wants us to become in Him while remaining completely humble.

I think there was a misunderstanding here. I know the Word says we can live without sin. What I meant is that if we say we are without sin or have never sinned, we are lying to ourselves. Christ is the only man that was tempted just as us and yet never sinned.

Yes I am sorry about that i agree we have all sinned, that is why we are in need of salvation. But I think you would agree that does not mean we must continue to sin after we are saved, but rather we are commanded to ''go and sin no more''

Yes, I would agree.

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ who lives in me.

To not commit any sin at all even a day I doubt is possible. Could you really say you never spend one second idle (even if just one day), for you are not you're own you were bought with a price (1Cor 6:20). Also another one I think that would settle it is Luke 10:27 "You shall love The Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and mind, and your neighbour as yourself" Are you doing this at all times throughout the day, again never letting it slip or putting God in second place for even one moment? Now don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to play down the heinousness of sin. But we must remember we are still in these temporal mortal bodies, whilst our spirits groan longing to be clothed with our dwelling from heaven (2Cor 5:2).

I would really be questioning the sincerity of my heart with it's response if I feel I could judge myself and say 'yes, I have not sinned this day' ; since in me and my flesh dwells no good thing. However this is just my opinion and I don't wish to make this drag on. I respect you none the less and wish you all the best on your walk with God. Godbless! :)

If you ask the Amish folk, they might say it is a sin to use electricity or a car.

If you ask an SDA folk, they might say it is a sin to eat meat (not much meat is kosher
any more)

Did you use electricity, a car or eat meat today?

Lots of suffering people in Japan due to electricity related problems. What happens in our
earthquake, loss of nukes, release of radiation time?

What happens as we pollute more, procreate more, build more because we have cars and
live in the 'burbs? .. When was the last time you walked to school, the grocery store, or
work for example?

McDonald's, Swine Flu, bacteria laden foods, imported meats -- meat industry issues

good point DA
ppl talk about sinning/not sinning without even knowing The Law.
there's a whole lot more sinning going on than the "not sinning" crowd thinks.
