I'm pretty sure God flooded the earth because of polygamy. I don't subscribe the prevalent angel baby daddy interpretation of Nephilim. But it has been instrumental in institutionalizing the devaluation of women. God instructed Hosea to treat his 'stray' wife the same as a the most pearl. How do you do that with an entire string of pearls? You can't because next to each other, they all look the same. They're all pretty, but cherishing a single pearl appreciating it's distinctions, a particular pearlescent swirl, especially noting its slightest deviance from the perfect orb, you know where that 'dent' is which influences how it lays at rest... stuff like that.

The first commandment is to love the Lord your God with all your heart and mind and to not have any other God's before Him. How is it that a woman should observe the same attitude toward her husband, but a man is excused from this consideration? What are they, rock stars? Rappers? Lamech wrote a rap song just about the time God said (paraphrasing), "Aw! Hell, no!" and planned the flood. There are no coincidences.

Yet again I will make it clear, I am presenting and argument that Christian’s can be polygynists, not that they should be polygynists. If a man with multiple wives all come to faith and some feel that they are called to stay and some that feel they are called to leave, I feel that they are both valid callings. And that no woman should be in such a relationship against her will.


Because there are such strong feelings on the subject (which are not invalid) I have chosen to go from a peripheral approach to the heart of the debate. Not all of you have taken the stance that a polygynists who comes from outside the faith and joins the church may continue his polygyny provided that his wives consent, this is the stance i take as well. Now I will ask you this, “if there is a grandfather clause for men outside the faith coming in, why is this clause not applicable to men (and consenting women) inside the faith who are not pursuing office? (Again, I do not believe this is what Titus and first Timothy says, but by your interpretation what is your argument?)

Would you take all things that occurred in the scriptural writings as permission to engage in them?

The subject matter is relevant to the topic. For example, restricting officiating to married men implies that only married men are morally responsible enough to disseminate God's word when that is not the case. Certainly, a one-woman man does indeed display a faithfulness within the institution of marriage and so that has a greater probability in translating to his faithfulness within the church, but that says nothing to the faithfulness of every individual within all of mankind.

But please raise this point on the “biblical polygamy?” Thread

Again, I am sorry I have accidentally violated my own request for topics on polygamy to be placed there, I did not mean to post this in this thread.

I think this is another attempt by the devil to put polygamy into the church. He tried using me for this same thing. It's the lust of the flesh that is driving people by the devil, to try and put this into the church. It should not be practiced, and for very good reasons.
