I don't see how this thread that was meant to be about sex and marriage, not abortion, got switched to an argument about abortion and the stage which a human being is considered a human being....that doesn't much contribute to the original topic.

At any rate,what I posted was just an observation about abortions, and since the topic here is apparently abortion, I think it's relevant, even if it didn't contribute to the argument going on.

On that subject - there's a pub in Maryhill in Glasgow that has a sign on promoting its celebrations:
Weddings! Promotions! Holidays! Divorce! Birthday!

That made me laugh - just the sort of place you'd expect them to do celebrations for divorces.

Abortion was introduced in the first reply to the thread and in a way in the original post as it mentioned unwanted pregnancies. Besides Abortion is much juicer a topic.

Sex before marriage is wrong therefore abortion is wrong, and yes it's murder.
There would be no need for it if people followed what God said.
Homosexuality is wrong and it states cleary in the bible but some people want to believe what they want to believe not what God says.
I believe all those things why?
Because God said in his word.

Pre-marital sex and abortion aren't linked absolutely. People have abortions within marriage, and others have pre-marital sex without getting pregnant.
Not all abortions are because someone has had sex outside of marriage and don't want a child. Sometimes the pregnancy would kill the mother, the child may have an agonising disability once they are born and would die after a few days in pain, a young girl may have been raped and unable psychologically to cope with a pregnancy at 10 years old. It's not always cut and dry. It is for some people, but not for everyone.
The Bible says lying is wrong. It says we must honour our parents. It says stealing is wrong. Are these things relevant to the conversation ongoing? No. Neither is homosexuality so why bring it up?

In her beginning post she mentioned that marriage was between a man and a woman.. So it was relevant.. We've just taken the topic elsewhere. And plus.. This is her thread so she can add to the discussion if she wants to..

Because this are things the bible says are wrong and the culture says is is right. I find it that most of time people who believe in abortion like to get stuck in that small percent of situations that might happen. Not the big picture.

Perhaps the people that think abortion is right don't think it should be done willy nilly. I am sure I am starting to sound like a parrot but....IT'S NOT ALWAYS BLACK AND WHITE! The grey is where things get confusing.

So then why does problems in the grey, mean that in the black and white, we must have abortion on demand?

One extreme does not justify another.

when did i say that we should have abortion on demand and that everyone should have the option? when when when? I actually said I thought the current laws needed to be changed as 24 weeks is to high.

Now you confuse me greatly. If you think abortion is permissible (which you have been argueing for) why do you bother opposing it in any situation?

because i don't agree with it as a form of contraception. its one of those grey things i keep speaking about. besides had anybody bothered to ask and not presume they knew my thoughts this would all have been explained ages ago.

Rape would cease to exist if sex stayed within marriage only, therefore obliterating situations where rape victims seek abortions.

As to the other situations, where mother or child or both may die- In many cases, I feel that God handles it through miscarriage if there is something very wrong with the baby. And if He doesn't? Maybe that means His plan involves the death of mother and/or child. God's ways are not our ways; we can't begin to understand all of the intricate moves He makes to effect His ultimate plan. I'm not sure that we should mess with that by aborting children for ANY reason , and that's actually difficult for me to say- I don't like the idea of women dying in child birth, nor do I like to think of tiny babies suffering; I have to work hard to have faith that God is in control of those situations.

Erm rape is non-consensual sex. The people do not have to be single. Rape can occur in marriage. 90% or rape victims know their rapist.

Thanks, I know what rape is, having been on the receiving end, and yes, I knew the people. Let me clarify what I said:

If sex were to stay within marriage only and kept to God's intentions for it, there would be no rape.

Married couples are not to with-hold their bodies from one another-
"The wife's body does not belong to her alone but also to her husband. In the same way, the husband's body does not belong to him alone but also to his wife. Do not deprive each other except by mutual consent and for a time, so the you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self control."- 1 Corinthians 7:1-5

The point is, INSIDE a marriage, if the couple follows God's Word, then rape isn't possible because the woman's body BELONGS to her husband, as the man's body BELONGS to his wife.

The we had better hurry up and get the whole world to be Christian. And I am sorry but whether of not the wifes body "belongs" to her husband he still needs to ask before doing stuff to it.

I was about to say that too leelee - rape is rape whether a stranger in the dark or the partner you've loved for years. Men can do it to women, or to men, and women can do it to both too. They could be a girlfriend, stranger, acquaintance, husband, brother, grandparent..you name it. Plus no matter how hard anyone tries, not everyone will live a 'perfect' existence. Christians (or at least those who call themselves Christians) have raped too. The only way to abolish it and therefore extra-marital intercourse is to make sure no-one can have sex, or no-one has the ability to disobey God, and that won't happen.
