If God did not cause the flood more people would of been killed than those that died in the flood and they probably would of devoured each other.
If God did not continue with Noah where would salvation be.

The last days will be like the days of Noah where the people were going about their business not giving heed to Noah which they will not give heed to the preaching of the Christians of the end time and to get saved.
