MATTHEW 25:33-40
33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:

36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?

39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?

40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

You can’t unless Jesus lives through you in the power of the Holy Spirit.

That is not the basis for salvation. You omitted the key verse to understanding the passage. Jesus was referring to the nations and the way they treat God's people. People are not made righteous because they behave righteously. They behave righteously because they are in Christ.

Try reading the rest of the NT to find out what true salvation is. We are saved by grace, not by works.

Sorry that is not the basis of salbation, some people think just because people are good to one and the other that they are Heaven bound.

Those scriptures are good to live by, but DOES NOT get you to Heaven.

NT how to get reborn?

Acts 2:38-39

38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

After we are reborn we can be judged by our fruits and those scriptures are a good gauge.

I have always understood these verses as being about judgment at the end of the tribulation. Those who showed kindness to those faithful to Jesus get a break. Those who persecuted the faithful get condemned.

Mat 25:41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

In terms of Ephesians 2:8-10, Matthew 25:33-40 references the category of good works--
good because of being motivated by saving faith in Jesus as Messiah and Lord.

We are in this Chat because we all want to get saved.
Our Lord Jesus gave this law to fulfill so he can save us.
No, we don't have to fulfil a law in order to enable Christ to save us. Ephesians 2 makes it clear that we are saved when we are still dead in trespasses and sins. The good works (following Christ's commands) comes once we are saved:

“8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” (Eph 2:8-10 NKJV)

Yes, this is True and we can't deny it:
EPHESIANS 2:8-9
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

That is why the sheep claimed they did not work for it.

MATTHEW 25:37-39
37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?

Why the grace of Our Lord Jesus was being applied to the sheep only and not to the Goats?
What the sheep did in the eyes of Our Lord and they inherit the Kingdom of God?

Yes but Jesus clarified that good works following saving faith are His will.

MATTHEW 25:33-40
33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

that truth that we all have to do is mediated by what he said the judges judgements like this one intercedes for us come judgement

Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful. Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven: give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall be given into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭6:36-38‬ ‭KJV‬‬

So if we listen to Jesus when we face our judgement if we have been merciful to those who have offended us then

“For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment.”
‭‭James‬ ‭2:13‬ ‭KJV‬‬

you see jesus taught believers to forgive when others sin against them to be merciful towards others to not judge everyone guilty and condemn them ect because however we treat others is how he will treat us on judgement day

His judgements n the gospel is what we will face that day if we are merciful we’ll receive mercy but if we are without mercy towards others that’s how we’ll be treated as well

See these things aren’t in the law anywhere

“For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:

but if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6:14-15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

if we believe Jesus died for our sins but then someone offends me and I hold it against them I’m missing e fact that Jesus died fornthier sins too and calls for me to forgive it

it isn’t Moses words that will judge us it’s Jesus words that will judge us

He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.”
‭‭John‬ ‭12:48‬ ‭KJV‬‬

airs Jesus we have to answer to so his doctrine that he taught like the single example above be merciful and you will receive mercy said the judge forgive and you will be forgiven said the judge don’t condemn and you won’t be condemned said the judge ect

We aren’t beholden to Israel’s old covenant but the new covenant made with all people israel and then everyone else so Moses words can’t save or make promises to us Jesus words are our promises we need to trust in

“And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.

But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭11:25-26‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Even though we aren’t perfect and all have done something’s wrong and we do have to answer come the day of judgement the gospel doctrine can save us come that day if we believe in and follow Jesus doctrine then we’ll be forgiven and not condemned for the things we’ve done wrong before . This isn’t an excuse to keep living wrong but for those pressing forward to live right giving them grace to get there

This kind of statement could give everyone good feeling.
Unfortunately, what we are searching is not how do we get good feeling but the Truth.
And the Truth is we must be perfect in the eyes of God so he can save us.

MATTHEW 5:48
48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

that’s pretty uninformed in my opinion and is a good example of one verse theology.

This sermon recorded in Matthew

But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; that ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:44-48‬ ‭KJV‬‬

This sermon of Jesus about mercy and forgiveness and loving even those who offend and make themselves our enemies ….. should be considered with the contemporary accounts of the sermon so we understand better .

“But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.

‭‭Luke‬ ‭6:35-38‬ ‭KJV‬‬

One verse theology really is lacking I believe, but I really have no interest in arguing with you.

This is saying help the poor and needy, have concern for those sick and in prison.

Which it means love people which without there is no salvation.

1Co 13:13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

Gal 5:6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.

1Co 13:2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

Jas 2:14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?
Jas 2:15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,
Jas 2:16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?
Jas 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

1Jn 3:17 But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
1Jn 3:18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

2Ti 2:19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

1Co 13:4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
1Co 13:5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
1Co 13:6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth.

1Ti 6:5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
1Ti 6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.
1Ti 6:8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
1Ti 6:10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

There are many people who say faith alone but you look at their lifestyle that they love money, and material things, worldliness, and not acting Christlike.

Which is not love.

2Ti 3:4 lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
2Ti 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
2Ti 3:7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

MATTHEW 25:33-40
33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

The basis of eternal salvation is knowing you are a sinner and believing on the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation.

Believing He is God, lived sinless, died and rose again. That by believing, you have eternal life, forgiveness of sin.

One verse theology really is lacking I believe, but I really have no interest in arguing with you.

Likewise I don't have the intention to argue. It just happened that I'm sharing what I read in the word of God.
The Truth in the word of God doesn't give good feeling but it hurts.
HEBREWS 4:12
12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

The basis of eternal salvation is knowing you are a sinner and believing on the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation.

Believing He is God, lived sinless, died and rose again. That by believing, you have eternal life, forgiveness of sin.

John 3:16,18 3:36, 5:24, 6:40
Romans 5:8, 10
Ephesians 2:8-9
Etc

Every Denomination in Christianity today is believing this. He is God, lived sinless, died and rose again. That by believing, you have eternal life, forgiveness of sin.

But the fact that they have different recognition to Jesus Christ that result of having different doctrines & way of salvation, what they believe is not a basis to Salvation.
