Because everyone you meet is fighting a battle you may never see.

That absent minded trader? She might have been awake all night nursing a sick child.

That waiter with a frown? She might be mourning a loved one but still trying to feed her family.

That friend who stopped replying your texts? They may be battling depression silently.

Empathy doesn't excuse bad behaviour, but it helps us respond with grace instead of wrath, with understanding instead of accusation.

Empathy is more than just saying “sorry.” It is the ability to feel with people to pause and imagine what it must be like to be them.

The world is already harsh, don’t add to it.
Let people be able to breathe around you...

I'm not totally convinced that a person can choose to be empathic . I think empathy is an emotion and therefore u either feel it or u don't , like any other emotion . For me , empathy is a pain , an actual pain that tortures me almost every day . I don't choose it , it chose me . Some days really wish it didn't .

When the mind is renewed to see the world through the lens of the Father compassion and empathy is a result.
The Renewing of the Mind should take place right after salvation. Ephesians and other places teach this.

Salvation is actually the first step...🙂
When the one who has accepted salvation begins to take in God's word, the renewal of his or her mind then begins.

If a person has truly received salvation but refuses to renew their mind with God’s Word, their spirit is saved, but their thinking, attitudes, and choices will still be shaped by their old way of life.

Salvation changes a person’s spirit instantly, but renewing the mind through God’s Word is what brings transformation in thoughts, emotions, and daily living.
 
So many stop and rest at salvation!:(
So many who claim Christ are still carnal in practice, living for this world and not things above. Praying in the Spirit is the best, fastest, strongest way I know to stay in Him.

Can you explain it practically please? I'm sincerely asking...
 
He honored my request to impart Holy Spirit to my grandson, I shared with him how to step out in faith to practice the divine prayer language and following he would be showered with Holy Spirit in confirmation. Next time I saw him I asked "Did you.." he cut me off, " Yes", I asked "Did He..." he responded " oh yes!!!".
He is very much an encourager of those who seek Him and want to grow in Him.

This is a teaching from a ministry that is very powerful, Curry Blake gives his testimony at 30 minutes of video 2, so you can see if it resonates with you.
 
This teaching has been a great help and I still gain from taking it in and acting on what He reveals through it.
John Wimber was an American musician who developed the Righteous Brothers duo and was scheduled for the 1st American tour with the Beatles when he gave it up for Christ, 35 years later he said it was the best decision he ever made.:)(y)
 
Empathy isn't in the bible. It's not even a real thing. Choose sympathy; which is encouraged in the bible and also a real thing.
 
The word "love" most often used in the new testament means, "seeking the highest good of the other person and doing what is possible to do to meet that need".
That is empathy. Any Christian should know this.
Jesus' command to His disciples, and if we call ourselves Christian we are His disciples, after accepting Christ as savior is to heal, cleanse, cast out, preach, etc.
Not merely to attend church once a week.
Sympathy merely feels sorry, compassion and empathy will move to alleviate the trouble.
