DID Jesus write the Gospels? No he did not. So how can you trust them??? If Paul's on grounds of making things up then so are his gospel writers. They had the same standing as he did.
The Bible can be trusted to provide an accurate account of what happened and what was said.

Duewell. According to the Bible the believer should NEVER want to devorce, so to make up ...he did not want me to persue my faith, will NEVER sit well with God....We only read IF THE UNBELIEVER ANTS TO GO... We never read of a believer that will want to go..... Which husband can stand between a woman and God? NONE! So even if he tries, he cannot! Her faith is not the assembly, her faith is Jesus in her.

My wife is a living example of how to get a husband through the "EVIL YEARS". My wife has always been a Christian. She married this "lost case" of a man...me! And her innocent life said more about God and Jesus, than you could put together of ALL the sermons I heard in my life! She did what God advises in 1 Peter, and I would really be blind not to see the meek and quiet SPIRIT in my wife was that of Chrsit Jesus!

You see these verses is also true... Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;.... 1Pe 3:2 While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear......1Pe 3:3 Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; .....1Pe 3:4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.

Let me give you one example.... It is a Sunday... she and the kids wants to go to church, and I have packed the boat and a big picknick basket for all of us. After church is Sunday-school for the kids, but I had no regard for God or the church. So I said...we are going to the dam and that is that. I did not even love my wife then as I should have. She being wise knew I would leave her at home if she argues, but that i will not let her hold the kids at home. So she made the right desision to let go of the church, and go to the dam with her husband and two daughters. NO CHURCH that Sunday as she had planned.

Had she not go, there would have been a lot of swearing and even big tantrums from me. And of coarse she would have sat at home all alone and worry about the family the whole day, becasue I would have come home very late that night.

Anyway, this beautiful ANGEL OF GOD called Lucy, my wife had this for 16 years Duewell... 16 years of hell! But then God had 33and a half. Anyway, in all those 16 years my wife NEVER said a single word to me about "Jesus Christ". Her calm and submissive spirit to this really stupid husband accomplished more than what I first believed... She kept the peace. She kept a family together. She kept a bad husband in store for God. She showed Jesus Christ in her without EVER saying a word about gospel. She held a family in God, for God to work. And God did!

16 Years into marriage she asked me to join them to go to church... That Sunday, God called me. Now 15 years later, Lucy has still the same family but with two new children added, and now her husband is typing here. She still does not say a word and has only prayed for one woman once in her life, but EVERYBODY knows she is an angel. Now it is a pleasure for her to suport her husband.... Her sacrificial suppot of 16 years is now a BLESSING support.

Just a week ago, she said to the oldest daughter... NOW SHE KNOWS COBUS LOVES HER AS HE SHOULD! And she did all this, without EVER saying the two words... "Jesus Christ" to her husband! I asked her... Mommy why do you never witness Jesus Christ, and she said...."Cobus I am the rock you can stand on to preach to the World!"

Duewell if any pastor wnats to take away my rock, he will be shown the fool he is! Like the young man that came to Jesus and said.... GOOD MASTER... And he got what he deserved.... Any person that thinks he can change Lucy to be "Good woman" will be a fool! She is way past "good woman" becasue she is what God made her to be. The perfect wife and mother!

Let me use this oppertunity to say.... "Lord thank you that you gave me Lucy, she is indeed an angel sent to save Cobus. My loving Father, let thou will be done in us as in heaven. And Lord send the Truth teachers, for the harvest is great, send us the harvesters for YOUR GLORY, Amen!
that is the sweetest thing ever

:) I would love to get to now your wife Cobus. she sounds like a beautiful Daughter of God. :)

I have meet a lot of pastor's wives who are the same. they do not speak much outside the close circle of women but when they do everyone listens. :)

I think the Lord inspired Paul, but I think Paul didn’t always get the message quite right.
Typical anti_pauline dribble. You are unlearned and unstable.

2Pe_3:16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

I think Paul was a great man, but I don’t think he was perfect. Does that make me anti-Pauline?

Nope. He wasn't a perfect person but I dare say he might have been more perfect than either of us after his conversion... lol.

But it's actually OK to be anti-Pauline in the sense that you don't like the personality of Paul (though you should still seek God's love for people until you find it in yourself). The problem comes when people allow that to affect their view of what God said through Paul. That type of anti-Pauline then is also anti-God and therein lies the problem with that.

I believe in God the Father. I believe Jesus Christ was God in flesh. They are both quoted extensively in the Bible, and I believe in everything they say.

I think we keep studying and praying we will learn it is not the words that are wrong but our understanding of the message God is trying to convey by the words. We just have to be diligent and seek God's truth in His revealed Word.

Asking a woman to be quiet and submit is like asking a rich young ruler to give up all of his money.

I agree - good comparison.

Sometimes God asks us to do things that are difficult.

Most of the time people refuse, and say "that's not what God reeeeeeeally meant!!!" He meant XYZ because of blah blah blah!

Res33 if you believe what God says then you have to believe that God wants women to be quiet in church.... LOOK ...It s not Paul's commands that a woman should be quiet it is GOD'S... If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord.

We know that the children of God will be persocuted, and the Teachers/Preachers/Pastors will be the number one targets. The man is the stronger sex and children knows.... I will tell my dad and he will sort this out, my dad is very strong..... Children also knows that when a bad man comes to the house DAD will sort him out... Dad is the FATHER and the STRONG one in the house. Dad protects mom and the kids.

When they want to harm DAD we as kids can hang on the MOM for comfort. When they harm MOM we as kids have no one to hang on too for comfort. Look at how many men were in prison for God's Word, and how few women if any.

That hing about ...In christ there is no woman of man... Well in Christ it is still the woman who falls preagnant when a baby is consieved... Never heard of a man falling pregnant when they sleep together. And also Never saw a verse where God gives a woman the authority over her man, even when he is a non-believer she should subject to him.

God will NEVER make me the Christ, He will ALWAYS be my head, just as the husband will ALWAYS be the head of the wife. There CANNOT be two heads in one family, it will be FATAL to the family. Just obey God's Word... Let Jesus be the head of the church, and you will see NO WOMAN will speak in the church, because JESUS will ALWAYS be a respector of God's will. Even the verse in 1 Cor 14:47.

The argument that a woman was the first ne to preach the gospel is just so far twisted it is almost madness... When Mary was sent to tell the disciples that Jesus was alive, she was not filled with the Holy Spirit, so she could not be a Truth preacher/ Gospel preacher. Only Spirit filled people were used to preach the Gospel. No Holy Spirit, no preacher! Simple as that.

When the woman at the well went to the Samaritans to say: "I this not the Christ, for he told me all I ever did" They believed, but not really, because they had to hear it from one with the Holy Spirit in HIM FIRST to believe in the SPIRIT. So she was a witness, but also without the Spirit, and that disqualifies her as a preacher/teacher/Truth speaker!

Only AFTER they heard Jesus speak they believed the SPIRIT! I hope you people see the difference. That is why so many woman even believe GOD CALLED them to be pastors, because they NEVER even head a Spirit filled pastor! A Spirit filled pastor will NEVER allow a woman to speak in his church, and his whole church, men and women will agree, becasue it is the SAME Spirit that was in control of the church in Corinthians, that is in control of the churches in Christ Jesus today! The Holly Spirit does not change, not one bit!

Nan if all the woman were like my wife, there would have been more holy people on earth thatn unholy people. She is truly a woman and daughter of God. She is truly the mother of JESUS... Remember how Jesus said... those that do the will of my Father is my brothers, and my mother. Well Lucy just do God's will ALL THE TIME! i think she cannot, not do God's will, becasue I NEVER saw her do something God will not approve of. She is just the perfect wife and mother.

She hails from a little town in Naminia, and the people of Namibia is known for their faith in God and their hospitality and natural neigbourly love, but my wife just is the "epitimy" (the absolute proof) of LOVE ALL PEOPLE! Any person that knows her has said.... WOW what a woman.

My dad's secon wife's father one day said to my dad.... Bakkies, you get good people and you get very good people, but Cobus striked the JACKPOT with that Lucy as a wife. She is an absolute angel. Ananda, all women LOVE my wife as a friend, becasue she just glows with compassion, love, Truth and I think if God reveals all His Spirit in her, she would light up a city! Trust me on this Ananda, her room is booked in heaven, and NONE of her family grows old!

He midlle brother is already gone, so is both her parents just making 60 or 60+. I understand this, because they are like ALL Holy people not meant to suffer too long in this world. Even Jesus said... The foxes have holes and birds have nests, but the Son have no place to lay His head... Yep even Jesus was not welcome here! And i think that is why Holy people will ALWAYS be persecuted on earth... They make the world feel "DIRTY", just like Jesus did.

My only hope is... may I also be disliked for the Truth and God's Name, Amen!

I'm having a problem of sorts with 1 Corinth 14:34-35 which basically states that we gals ought to keep our mouths shut:

"As in all the congregations of the saints, women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the Law says. If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church"

I am interested in the opinions of those CC members who believe in the inerrancy of the Bible (and those who don't)...what's your "take" on the above?
Paul was referring to the culture of the people in that place at that certain time. If God wants to tell me something through a woman, I hope that that woman speaks up.
Also, Paul writes that every man should be a priest in his own home. Shame on any man that doesn't do what he's supposed to do.

So you get opinions.....what do you do with opinions? Override scripture?
Im sure the bible is clear enough on this issue for any woman to understand
But the title leaks your attitude to start with. Why not just have a vote?
Maybe give God 1 point for His opinion. Then tally it up and its all settled.

Well said that man!

I heard it said "God plus one is the "majority". Actually God plus none is the massive majority. You are right, what is the point in voting over whether our finite, imperfect thoughts are correct or not? If God said it, IT IS FINAL! "do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds" Romans 12:2.

The renewing of our minds require humility and brokenness because it means saying "my thoughts don't matter, what God says DOES matter" Notice those words come immediately after the instruction to "present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God".

God bless everyone.

why are us men so fearful of a woman talking in church ???

lets look at what we dont enfore first ,,, we dont stone gays now we dont do burned offerings ,, we dont have the clean laws that is such a thing in the bible ,,, yet let a woman talk in church and the men run around pulling there hair out !!!!

Lets face it ,,, the bible is being used to keep woman in there place ,,, nothing more than that ,, in most churchs there is more woman than men 2/3rds more woman than men is the norm oh yes they can clean ,, make the coffee or tea ,, put out the flowers ,, yet if one has something to say she feels God has told her ,,, it will never be heard !!!! to me that is just STUPID !!!! (((and yes i am a man ))

I find as I go through these forums that when a person asks a question about a verse, there are so many differing opinions on it, so many arguments AGAINST it, and so many responses that totally fail to be useful in any way at all....the person who asked the question probably would have been better off using their own judgment to discern what the passage means.

A lot of people try to mislead others on here, and whether it's on purpose or not, I don't know, but anyone who is unsure of their own faith and is already on shaky spiritual ground is likely to fall for the lies (intentional or not) that pop up on here.

Hi Albino Nun

With respect, does it matter what those people (who do not believe in the inerrancy of Scripture) think about the question?

Our faith is founded on the Bible. It is the Bible that tells us about Jesus and His death and ressurrection to save us from our sins. It is the Bible which tells us everything Jesus said and did. Without the Bible, how would we know what truth was? The Holy Spirit shows "born again" believers that the Bible is the infallible Word of God. Those who deny the Bible as the Word of God are not being led by the Holy Spirit who leads us into all truth. The Holy Spirit shows us that truth is revealed through scripture. Without the Bible, you have no steady/reliable foundation for your faith.

Therefore, the thoughts of man do not matter. the psalmist wrote "as high as the heavens are above the Earth, so are MY thoughts above your thoughts and MY ways above your ways, says the Lord"
