As a teacher myself, I really feel that teaching is one of the most ungrateful careers. The challenges that teachers deal with daily is spirit breaking. I see teaching as a calling and strive to be an example for every learner that my path cross. But the world today praise lies and frown upon truth. We don't only teach content out of a textbook, but common manners, general rules and respect. Social media became the playground for these learners where they really struggle to see what is the real truth. Not only that, but the mockery, bullying and name-calling that teachers endure is appalling - and influenced through social media.
My prayer request is for learners to realize: "I am better when I am here!" In school learners work on their futures, their people skills and how to adapt and change to a quick evolving world. It is not a punishment, but chance to be better, educated and successful, not only academically, but socially and above all of this in the wisdom and grace of God.

I taught basic electronics for about 18 months. I have no qualifications, but I loved it. My friends tell me its a natural gift. Some also say that I never use one word when ten will do.

I considered teaching as a career when I left the military. It was not practicable. Gaining qualifications was too difficult. I am glad that I did not enter the education system. Australia is pretty much a reflection of the corruption of society that has turned away from God, forsaken truth, respect for authority, embraced the "rights" of the individual and rejects any sense of responsibility. The rot started in the 60's. It's been all downhill from there.

Teachers are generally highly motivated to seek the best for those they teach. In Australia, teachers are hamstrung by regulations, reporting demands and extra curricular activities that have little to do with their work.

Until parents instill a sense of the importance of education, I can't see much changing. Some do, and sacrifice a great deal to send their kids to non government schools.

This leads to the absurd situation that this nation is unable to educate kids to do important jobs, including trades, medical, IT and other demanding jobs that pay well. Instead, we poach people from overseas. This creates its own problems. We have so many immigrants that we can't house them, there are not enough medical facilities, transport struggles to cope and normal living is very expensive.

So, my advice is to pray for the parents to encourage their kids to value classroom time. Pray for governments to see that it is more important for kids to learn the skills that matter, rather than critical race theory or how to use personal pronouns in a way that won't offend anyone ever.

Lord, I pray for all the teachers, parents, and caregivers. Give them wisdom, strength, and peace. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
