This isn't my video, but reflects lots of my problems I have with the "Christian" music scene (I'm a musician myself, guitar and harmonica)

Everything that gets popular will have a lot of people trying to make money from it with soulless ripoffs.
That does not mean the original, real item is not genuine and legit. It just means you have to look a little harder to find it.
It also means people who dislike the real thing will have marvelous excuses to levy accusations against it, based on what they find in the soulless ripoffs.

The CCM business is not without its problems for sure. For me, there's just something about a large congregation singing A Mighty Fortress is our God, or O for a Thousand Tongues to Sing. Gives me goose bumps.
I liked the video for it's depth of going into the topic. I try to keep a balanced perspective about CCM. It's a pointer towards Christ, and we never know how a particular song might help someone in a time of need. This world is a dark place, and sometimes a song can make all the difference for someone, even if it's not that important for people who are having a living relationship with Jesus.
Part of the reason I feel compelled to write worship music is that I feel there is a lack of 'new' worship that is as true as the old worship from the 70's and 80's.
Some of those old songbooks I have are just pure fire for my soul. But the styles of the songs are a little dated. My kids say it's 'cringe' (even though they love God) so someone needs to write new songs with the same depth that have the right modern style for today's worshipers.

I'd say the problem is Churches started making stage shows out of the music portion of the service. Flashing lights, smoke machines, songs that seem to just repeat the same line over and over again with a heavy base beat, as in chanting in an attempt to create a feeling in the air. Instead of the songs of old that moved us because the words spoke the truth of God's love and sacrifice for our souls. It's sad that your kids think that is cringe.
Be careful complaining about an entire sector of Christian music.

I like the fact that a stage is universal, its where ever we go.

I play the harmonica. So what's the deal with Christian music? I like it. It reminds me of scripture I read and truth. The only way I would not listen to a Christian song is if it was heresy

I appreciate the video giving proper credit to Larry Norman as the father of CCM.
His album "In Another Land" was great!
I wish the video had paused to note that Petra was an early great Christian band.

It is sad that some Christian musicians have sinned and even abandoned Christ.
I agree that we should judge a song by the meaning of the lyrics when written
rather than by the later morality and apostasy of the composer.

Regarding kids who dislike the music, perhaps they could learn how to use Suno to update it using the original lyrics.
