I was thinking of something like a father carefully observing their child and working with elbow grease & the rod of loving discipline to set them straight. No two people are the same no mater who they are, but we are formed with the help of how others interact with us.

An arbitrary program is nothing compared to a sincere & intimate relationship, and impairment is nothing against consideration & patience. At one pont we were clueless babies and now we are men. You weren't conditioned to be the person you are before, but you just are now.

One day you might lose everything and become as one of the troubled people you treat. You just don't know.
Drugs might help you get there and drugs might help you out, but they aren't necessary.

Autism is a neurological disorder, love and affection are always needed to raise children so they feel safe and secure, however, it cannot repair a brain.
Believe as you will.

Parents who have children on the extreme end of the autism spectrum, well my heart just goes out to them.
I cannot fault any parent for seeking relief and trying medication, they all have side effects and I can tell you it is so hard for parents to make this decisions, no parent wants their child on medication if other alternatives are possible.

Some parents are on call 24/7 with no relief.
I do think there are other medications that have been developed in the past few years,
the best option would be to find the cause since the prevalence has been rising steadily.

What is an extreme end of autism?
A person has extremely high GPA?

I have had many parents tell me in confidence they lock their child in the bedroom at night and they worry about the consequences.

Is this why you can't explain or define what autism is? Because you see bad parents who can't parent?

What kind of neurological disorder?

If we were speaking with each other before all this stuff was calssified & defined, what would you say?

Love & affection can repair a brain. Don't you beleive all these modern treatments were made out of it?
(I personally beleive they were made for profits and hardly anything more, but let this be beside the point)

What is applied behavioral analysis? Can you explain it?
How is this spectrum disorder defined? Can you explain it?
Also, who are you talking to in your last question?

It is only because I have spent so many years in this field that I will engage you and it is an keen area of interest for me.

ABA (Antecedent-Behaviour-Consequence) is an intervention program and is given by a certified therapist.

As a program it uses behaviour-response training to maximize appropriate behaviors and extinguish or reduce negative behavior using a very strict system of differential reinforcement.

Autism is generally regarded as a triad of impairments affecting the three areas in varying degrees >>>>
behaviour, social and communication.

What kind of neurological disorder?

The part that governs communication, behaviour and social skills.

Many children on the spectrum need speech and language therapy, social skills training and behaviour modification interventions if they have the cognitive ability to understand.

There are various theories and research is ongoing out there regarding the micro-biome of the stomach and the brain since many of these children have associated gut issues.

There have always been babies who have suffered damage to the brain, whether in utero or due to environmental toxins or during birth so love cannot cure all.

What's a behavior response training and why do you have to maximize or minimize behaviors? For what reason?
Also, how is a 'strict system of differential reinforcement' defined?

YES! This is what we've talking about this whole time in case you haven't noticed.
This is called human behavior with unique characteristic which include, geniuses, inventors among others.
Why would call this an illness? This is what i'd like to know.

What's the difference between this and being shy?

Thanks.
What is Antecedent-Behaviour-Consequence ?

Yes, the child it given a stimulus and the correct response is reinforced, however the reinforcement has to be differential to be effective.

So it a child is non-verbal at four years old, just a as a quick example, the therapist will provide a stimulus to engage the child to make vocalizations and shape the behaviour to the intended goal.

This takes many years and there are long wait lists.

You don't hear what I'm saying. Love is the source of all cures, and when you deny the power of love you deny God.
I would not trust a 'cure' that was not made with loving intentions. God had the power to cure men of ancient time as much as he does now, and anyone searching for a cure in him would find it.

What is being shy, how do you mean that?

Many would regard autism as primarily "communication disorder" although like I said with intensive therapy they definitively can make gains.

Problems with communication does connect to behavioral and social problems

I have no answer, except to say we live in a fallen world and God is not obligated to cure each and every case of disease, illness or impairments big or small.

THANK YOU for engaging the topic Daisy.
Daisy, a lot of what you have described are simply behavioural and character traits that exist in every person. Have you asked why it's necessary to label these traits of the human condition as some sort of 'illness'?
I mean, i would call them gifts.
They have the gift to know technology better then you. Why would you call them 'sick'?
Would you be able to explain the reasoning as to WHY what you explain is some sort of 'illness'?
A lot of inventions made today are made by people with those characteristics that you described.

most people think of it as an illness but its defined as a condition and previously you were talking about fake and real. so i was clarifying that it is real not fake.

Some clinicians believe that behavior can be changed, the brain is malleable at a young age, and new pathways can be made.

Differential reinforcement means that the child does not always receive the positive reinforcement, it cannot be predictable, this keeps the child engaged in the training.

Because the brains are not neuro-typical in the area of communication, behaviour and social skills.

It is typical for children to acquire language because our brains are created to acquire language, when that does not happen naturally there is a problem in the speech language area of the brain.

Autism is not about intelligence.

Sometime with autism its like growing up very very slowly a 50 year old could finaly reach an emotional lever of a 10 -15 year old and function independently later on in life.
