Psalm62-5-6.png

Psalm 62 v 5-6Rest in God alone, O my soul, for my hope comes from Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress; I will not be shaken.

The power wouldn't "solely" be with God were it dependent upon their actions - it would be theirs because their salvation would be dependent upon their free will choices, not God.

You mean I've just wasted the past 69 years? All I had to do was believe something to be true and it would have occurred?

The reason believing Jesus is the Saviour has a salvific effect is because the power to accomplish salvation is in THE WORD!

Why you find that so hard to believe is ironic.

the same as He does for all who believe as you do - who's trust is in themselves for salvation rather than in Christ as the Savior.

That tells me He does nothing which is exactly what @GWH said.

And I do not trust in myself for salvation, that is simply your imagining.

No, we have to be saved in order to believe - you have it reversed - belief is effect, not cause. Salvation comes first.
You don't seem to be able to grasp that.
Salvation cannot be acquired by any of man's efforts, and that is why Christ alone has the title of Savior and man doesn't -
it comes only from God.

And I'm getting tired of this discussion.

unbiblical.png

Despite what the un-Biblical free will doctrine promoters put forth, the natural man does not have everything he needs in order to grow the good fruit of faith from the stony ground of his incurably wicked heart which is opposed to the things of God, and he cannot change himself, being a lover of darkness who suppresses the truth in unrighteousness as a slave to sin, being inherently hostile in his mind toward God, and blinded to the truth while under the power of the evil one. Those who promote the free will of the natural man reject a plethora of Biblical truths. Praise God if Jesus has set you free!

It's not a matter of me not grasping what you say, I simply find it illogical. You have God saving unbelievers.

How can salvation come if you don't believe in Christ? God saves believers. You have the cart before the horse.

Mark 16:16
Acts 16:31
Romans 10:9
1 Corinthians 1:21

I have stated it is God alone who saves. You seem unable to comprehend believing something doesn't put it into effect. You believe Christ is Lord and Saviour? You didn't make Him that by your believing. You constantly put power into the act of believing that simply isn't there and confuse it with faith which is a gift of God and not something we can manufacture of ourselves.

And I'm getting tired of this discussion.

I'm not surprised, it's hard to breathe when you put your head in the sand. :p

the spiritually dead are unable to believe, period. they must first be made alive to believe and that occurs as a result of salvation.

Okay, for the last time, and at this point, I'm done

[Eph 2:1 KJV] 1 And you [hath he quickened], who were dead in trespasses and sins;

[Eph 2:5 KJV] 5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

[Col 2:13 KJV] 13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;

[Luk 1:77 KJV] 77 To give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins,

[Act 18:27 KJV] 27 And when he was disposed to pass into Achaia, the brethren wrote, exhorting the disciples to receive him: who, when he was come, helped them much which had believed through grace:

[Act 13:48 KJV] 48 And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.

[2Pe 1:1 KJV] 1 Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:

True believers in Christ believe that Jesus Christ death alone had a salvific effect for the elect.

How can salvation come if you don't believe in Christ? God saves believers
How can believing come without salvation? Jesus said no man naturally can come to Him Jn 6:44,65, And God saves unbelievers from unbelief or they could never believe in Christ. The True Christ, not the false Christ of arminiaism

You're welcome. I'm not interested in going round and round. I already hopped off the Ouch merry-go-round.

No issue I just hope the scripture I shared clears up some of your thoughts and helps you in your walk.

It doesn't have to say it for it to be true. It's a simple deduction if you condition salvation from sin on your faith instead of soley on the Cross of Christ.

No, the simple teaching is faith as the condition. Yours is a definition of faith as meritorious.
Nowhere does Scripture say or imply that "salvation is solely on the Cross of Christ".

My Copilot retrieved this entry from answerbible.com when I queried the phrase, "the government is on his shoulders."

Isaiah 9:6
The phrase "the government will be on his shoulders" is found in Isaiah 9:6, which states: “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace”. This verse refers to the coming Messiah and signifies His authority and governance.

Of course, now, the Messiah has come into His authority and governance.

Is salvation anything like an entitlement program?

Is salvation something like a social security program where one is required to meet eligibility criteria to be entitled to receive benefits funded by taxed paid into the program? Idk, Social Security is not a gift or a handout but is a benefit earned through contributions to that program.
Salvation is disseminated by The Benefactor, through His Governance so, is salvation something like a food stamp program where the recipients are required to demonstrate their lack of income and need of assistance?

To better understand the workings of salvation, how would the benefit of salvation be characterized within the context of the Wonderful Counselor's government?

You make anything a condition other than what Christ accomplished, it's works salvation devoid of Grace

Not per Paul.
Yes Per Paul. He preached Grace Acts 20 24

24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

And if of Grace, no more of works Rom 11 6

6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.

Apparently you are unaware of Paul's teaching that "gospel" means good news and "grace" means gift,
so what Paul preached was the good news/gospel that because of God's love He offers to gift/grace those who have faith
in Christ Jesus as Lord with salvation from sin and to heaven. Would you like for me to share those?
