Hi..does anyone have a good answer for the skeptics of why people get sick and suffer, when God is all-loving and all-powerful?

God curse the ground after Adam and Eve sinned. This was not punishment,but to make life difficult so that our need for each other would cause us to overcome our natural selfishness that was our new nature Sadly this was insufficient as people came to be evil continually

The flood can be seen as a sort of reset for mankind. After the flood our environment got much more difficult (winter, floods, drought, etc.) Our biology was changed as well such as not being able to live more than 120 years, the vulnerability to disease, and various genetic weaknesses. This might seem cruel, but such hardships forced us to care for one another even in spite of our natural selfishness.
With the Industrial Revolution life has become much more prosperous and easy. One result is that the imagination of the thoughts of the heart are becoming evil again. For example a Downs baby would be cared for by his parents, but after their death, he would have to be cared for by his siblings. This sort of "suffering" forced people to take on the care for each other. Today Downs kids are aborted when people have kids at all.And there are few siblings.
In addition to the suffering God placed in the world (to make it apparent to us that the selflessness of love was preferable to the selfishness of consumptive self-seeking) we have to endure the suffering we do to ourselves and is inflicted by others.The only way out of this mess ios to acceppt the offer of God to have our sins forgiven and return to him through the love of Christ.

In between conversion and heaven, God allows our journey to go through various places we would rather not visit: the ghost town of job loss, the quarantined ghetto of disease, the burning village of divided families. History can be viewed as a long “King of the Hill” struggle (KOTH).
But let us take heart from the words of Paul (in Phil. 4:12-13: “I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation… I can do everything through him who gives me strength.” I think Paul’s secret is to treat every negative experience as an opportunity for learning some truth that will help us to become stronger persons and better witnesses for Christ. Financial problems teach us to value spiritual riches and to rely on God (1Tim. 5:6-10), physical ailments teach us to appreciate a healthy immortal life in heaven (2Cor. 12:7-10), and unhappy relationships motivate us to resist the devil, even though we feel as if God has forsaken us (Jam. 4:7-10, Matt. 27:46).
The paradoxical truth is that Believers experience joy despite KOTH or suffering (1Pet. 4:13). While not desiring to suffer or praying for problems, mature Christians have a Christ-like attitude so that tribulations only make them merely joyful rather than overjoyed! Christians are joyous because they realize that suffering is only for a season and for good reason:
- Pain and sickness due to mortality teach us to center our lives on God and the hope of immortality (1Cor. 15:12-28)
3. Relying on God’s grace and truth in the midst of undeserved troubles glorifies Christ (2Cor. 4:7-11) and shows the value of LGW,
4. Troubles serve to keep mature saints humble (2Cor. 12:7-12), and
5. God’s Holy Spirit comforts those who suffer and thereby demonstrates His love (Matt. 5:4, 2Cor. 1:3-4).
As Paul wrote (in Rom. 5:3-4), “We also rejoice in our sufferings (KOTH), because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.” Our hope is that we gain heaven (Phil. 1:21), which is worth any grief occasioned by Faith (1Pet. 1:6-9, 2Cor. 4:16-18, Heb. 12:2).
Yes, this life is not heaven yet, although our continual prayer is for God’s will to be done on earth in our lives. May we keep on believing God and resisting evil (Jam. 4:7) until God’s kingdom comes. Do not be discouraged, but rather relax and rest in God’s love as you remember what is really important in life. Have joy despite adversity because of hope!

Tell the skeptics that God created a perfect planet and gave us commandments to live a happy and healthy life. Since creation man has failed to follow God's commands and health laws in Lev 11:1-47, causing them to become sick by eating scavengers. We also continuously pollute our air, water and food that we breathe, drink and eat which also leads to sickness and disease. We add chemicals and additives to our foods which can cause problems. Some people suffer from chemical imbalances in their bodies and mind that causes sickness and disease.
Why do we suffer? Are you following God's laws and doing things according to his instructions? God's laws say to put murderers, rapist, adulterers and homosexuals to death so that others will see and cease from doing such things. Unfortunately we don't obey God's commands and allow evil to flourish among us and in some cases, release them from prison to do it again. Let's not forget that evil spirits are also allowed to roam around and can cause problems for some people. It's not God's fault that things are messed up. He created a great environment for us to live in. We are the ones that continue to mess it up and go astray.

Here are my thoughts. For them to say how God isn’t all-good/powerful/loving due to suffering..that it somehow negates those attribute of Him..all they need to do is look to the cross.
No lol just something I believe. What happen to this world after Adam & Eve sinned? God said Satan is the god of this world. Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here.”
So this world (sickness) it comes at all of us but God gave us some promises for that. Now suffering for Christ as the 12 (with Paul) that is not some sickness that for me .... I have never had happen yet it is happening right now to those that follow believe in Jesus Christ. Like China.. they are really cracking down on Christians.
Christ said to one "Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, “See, you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you.” Yeah what we think and then act on, what we read, hear, watch, say (confess) eat all matters. So what if you don't believe this the enemy does not care. You say you didn't mean it or you shouldnt have said it done it or the like the enemy does not care why you did it. He will act on that.. take it to God to use accuse you to God so he can have the right to do something against you.
"And the Lord said, “Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat.". its not GOD who then gives Satan the ok if you will. Its like God was about to Judge a nation and looked for just one of them to build a wall to stand in the gab so He would not have to judge but found none. For me its one reason if miss it goof up sin I repent. Or when praying for someone I always repent and ask Him for give me for things I might have done and don't remember and hold them not to my charge. Sorry.. going a tad deep here lol
