Given that the ancient Egyptian cubit was comprised of one and a half ancient Egyptian feet:

As a builder I can tell you for an honest to goodness fact that if it were only 36 feet in the ground it would fall over at the slightest breeze simply because there is not enough of it in the ground to stabilize it from teetering.
The rule of thumb for construction is whatever is above the ground (so far as pillars or high rises are concerned) 1/5th must be below the ground for ample stability it is a very old formula to say the least.
This was first used by the Egyptians 5000 years ago and it still is in use today in any skyscraper around the entire world.

well that is obviously incorrect...the empire state building is a little over 1,453 feet high but only 55 feet of it is underground...that is less than 1/25th underground
and what's more...actual egyptian obelisks did not have -any- foundation or underground portion at all...they just rested on a pedestal
