No it just means all who come to salvation were chosen don't forget that the scriptures say this 1 Timothy 2:4, which states that God "wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth," and 2 Peter 3:9, which says God is "not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance". 1 Timothy 2:6 further explains this by saying Christ "gave himself as a ransom for al
All who come to salvation are the elect. :)

Election occurred before the foundation of the world because God foreknew who would believe. Free will doesn't exist until a man is born. (y) O how they wish Free Will came before Divine Election. :sneaky:

I guess another way to say it is that God foreknew who would use his free will to believe

It doesn't say God chose us first, but that he based his choice (election) on his foreknowledge. Foreknowledge of what? Foreknowledge that we would of our own free will believe in and choose him. Thus he nurtured and guided us to lead us out of darkness to his son.

For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. Romans 8:29-30

Yes this is true the question is were they under the influence of God's leading or were they just chosen beforehand the scriptures would indicate that no they were not predestined otherwise the verses I gace would be contradicting the rest of scripture

I agree! Election occurred before the foundation of the world because God foreknew who would believe. Free will doesn't exist until a man is born.

Is there really anything like free will I wonder? I mean if free will does exist how does this tie into being born again? The scriptures never call us free they refer to us as either slaves to the flesh or slaves to Christ so can a slave or servant for that matter willingly choose to obey their master or not?

I mean this is just my own thoughts here but it does make me wonder:unsure::unsure:

God foreknew who would have a heart he could work with, so he chose them and led them to his son

It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me. John 6:45

1 Corinthians 6:20
For you are bought with a great price. Glorify and bear God in your body.

Men are slaves of sin because they choose that. God has made a way, but not all men listen because they love darkness rather than light

Well, yes, God foreknew who would be born and who among those born would exercise their MFW to choose to become elect,
and God predestined that those who became elect would become morally perfect or fully loving, like Christ.

Actually, John 8:32-36, Rom. 6:18 and Gal. 5:1 call believers free, but you illustrate the need to harmonize all teachings in Scripture.

As he chose us in him before the foundation of the world
