Child sexual abuse (CSA) continues to occur - even within Christian families, churches, and communities. Many are shocked when it happens close to home, but we must not let disbelief silence truth. When a child or adult discloses abuse, we are called to listen, believe, and guide them toward qualified support - especially when the perpetrator is a respected figure. Disclosure often brings division, but truth must not be sacrificed for comfort or loyalty. Guard your heart against bias. Victims are not to blame; perpetrators chose to harm a “little one,” and Scripture is clear about the gravity of such sin. Do not dismiss disclosures as gossip or slander. To shield an offender from accountability is to deny them the sorrow that leads to true repentance. There is a time to expose the deeds of darkness—and disclosure of CSA is one of them.

If you work with children you are a mandated reporter and obligated under the law to contact children and youth services. It's their job to figure out if it's true or not.... not yours.

The wolves will try to blend in with the sheep. Our criminal justice system is ridiculous with it though. They get a slap on the wrist and then we wonder why it's such an issue.

Be really careful who is with your child. If your church doesn't require clearances you need to go to another church. Anyone working with small children are required to have clearances. There should always be 2 adults in the room. Listen to your child even if they are not saying the words. There may be a serious reason for the anxiety and stomachache for why they don't want to go to church.
