Some recent polling for the hyped NYC Mayoral race. While Mamdani remains in the lead Cuomo stands better poised if he could convince Sliwa to drop out to actually tie or beat Mamdani now. Though Cuomo has a terrible reputation both the fear over Mamdani as well as Cuomo's improvement between debate 1 and debate 2 is logically explainable. However Sliwa also has gained momentum though he remains the underdog he has managed to break his ceiling and is climbing to the 20% range evening out the race ito a more rock-paper-scissors dynamic. Mamdani does still maintain a pretty commanding lead however while it remains a threeway race as the video notes, however the video doesn't take note of it but Mamdani has actually lost a small percentage of supports, about 3% which is still in the margin of error, but it also might indicate something of a fumble metaphorically with how he has kinda got thrown off rhythm post-debate, perhaps a weakness that one of his opponents could exploit, or a minor hiccup that he will correct easily and cruise to victory. The video also presents another interesting dynamic that could prove a game changer in that now that this race is being hyped up pretty hard not just for NYC, but really becoming a top tier story for the whole USA, it could amp up voter turnout which could in theory make it into anyone's game.
Kathy Hochul whom became Governor after Cuomo resigned betrays her former benefactor in a very big way and endorses Mamdani ,a big moment for the race as well as a question about Hochul's own political future. While on an objective scale or republican lens one might not think this is a great move, but it's actually very smart for Mamdani in a democrat lens especially viewing Cuomo as his greater threat; an attempted change of the guards and a path forward beyond this race for the far left to both seize control of the party and also consolidate power to make their faction the new establishment of the democrat party.
