Nor does it prevent it.Sprinkling or pouring water on individuals does not nessitate a large body of water.

I'm not. I'm not averse to the idea that it can be by sprinkling or pouring either. However I will say, it's probably not a great idea to baptize infants by immersion. Why are you adverse to the idea that baptism is by immersion?
“For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named” (Eph. 3:14-15).Context not just one verse in one chapter. Jesus said baptized in the name of the Father Son and Holy Spirit, you telling me I am to listen to Peter of Our Lord? your question is foolish, and the UPC had to deal with that. Jesus said and the PUC tried to be cute and say what is the name ." ignorant of the fact its not about the name but the authority given to the person by which they do or were sent. " Come in the name of the Lord," "rise and be healed in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth."
Infant baptism was not taught during the apostolic era. The practice began in the 2nd century, and during the Council of Milevis (416 AD) it was officially declared that infants were in need of baptism. However, the idea conflicts with biblical teachings:I'm not. I'm not averse to the idea that it can be by sprinkling or pouring either. @NightTwister It may actually be beneficial to study the points rather than dismiss them at hand. You may think the points are boring. I, however, find them compelling.Infant baptism was not taught during the apostolic era. Faith and Repentance are pre-requisites to a valid and biblical baptism:
1. Baptism requires faith in Jesus. (Acts 2:36-37)
2. Baptism involves a confession of faith. (Acts 8:36-37)
3. Baptism requires repentance from sin; a turning away from a sinful life-style. (Luke 3:8, Acts 2:38, etc.)
4. Baptism is by immersion. At baptism a person rises to walk in newness of life. (Rom. 6:1-4, Mark 1:10, Matt. 3:16, Acts 8:39 )
5. Baptism requires a willingness to believe and obey God. (Mark 16:16)
I've studied this topic in depth. I have come to different conclusions than you. Grace and Peace.@NightTwister It may actually be beneficial to study the points rather than dismiss them at hand. You may think the points are boring. I, however, find them compelling.
You’re exactly right about the pre-requisites for baptism. And you gave scripture to back it up.Infant baptism was not taught during the apostolic era. FYI it is finished means the work is all done the debit is paid. we just have to receive. That scripture says nothing of when the shed blood of Jesus is applied.
Not agitated just know you are not going to tell me I a not saved because I was water Baptized in Jesus name only.I guess by your agitated response you disagree with the point referenced in my post that we are responsible to obey more than just repentance.
you were literally buried? with him in baptism is symbolic. that what the text is saying.Jesus and Peter are on the same page. There is no contradiction.
Jesus gave the command. (Matt. 28:19) And Peter and others obeyed Jesus' command. They baptizied everyone in the name of the Lord Jesus. (Acts 2:4-41, 8:12-18, 9:17-18, 10:43-48, 19:1-7, 22:16) What other scriptures convey the reason for this?
In Jesus dwells all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. The Godhead being the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. (Col. 2:9) The verses immediately following Paul's comment pertain to baptism and its effect regarding the forgiven of sins: (Col. 2:10-13)
"For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:"
How is the forgoing accomplished?
"Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;"
Paul also specifically references one's burial is with Jesus and destruction of sin through baptism in Romans 6:
"Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?..."
Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin."
The foregoing scriptures expressly convey the reality behind the need to be baptized in the name of Jesus for remission of sin. It was Jesus in His humanity who was crucified.
when do you take on HIS name ? the word of God sates HE gave us HIS name or authority of those who have faith in Him and call Him Lord .“For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named” (Eph. 3:14-15).
When do you suppose we take on the name?
The name "Jesus" is significant because it is the Greek form of the Hebrew name Yeshua or Joshua, which means "Yahweh saves" or "the Lord is salvation.
Baptism requires obedience. I asked you this before. but it is important for all here to see how unlearned you are on this topic.Infant baptism was not taught during the apostolic era. Everyone has the right to believe as they wish. Not agitated just know you are not going to tell me I a not saved because I was water Baptized in Jesus name only.
There are also people in the hospital, on their deathbed who have been baptized for the remission of sins. None of the verses you listed mentioned repentance, so where did you get one must repent from? I can only go by what the Bible says, and since baptism is for the remission of sins, then one who dies without being water baptized for the remission of sins dies without having their sins remitted/forgiven.there are many people in the hospital who are dying. many of them are not saved. I preached the gospel to them and many of them have repented of their sins and confess Jesus as Lord as John 3:16-18 and Romans 10:9-11, but died before they were water baptized. Where those people who died saved and went to heaven. Yes or no.
I bet you don't have the courage to answer that question.
I don't have to understand all the particulars, but I know without a doubt that what is recorded in the word is true. Andyou were literally buried? with him in baptism is symbolic. that what the text is saying.
Scripture does not address the scenario you present. However, what scripture does express is believers are to "Repent, and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for remission of sin, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." (Acts 2:38).Baptism requires obedience. I asked you this before. but it is important for all here to see how unlearned you are on this topic.

What Jesus could do in the flesh was done.
Jesus' resurrection, and His blood being poured on the mercy seat were essential.
After the above took place, Jesus poured out the Holy Ghost at Pentecost. It was at that point that the NT rebirth became a possibility for NT believers.

Now, here’s a question for you: There are people in the hospital who don’t believe in the gospel, but want a preacher to come tell them about it. Just before the preacher gets there, the people dies without ever believing in the gospel. Did they die saved? Yes or no.
