Tehran' Water Lines Is Gone—Iran Faces EVACUATION, "ZERO DAY" as Water Crisis Hits 10 Million People
14 million people are out of water and this is not a temporary issue. Tehran is suffering from water bankruptcy.
Tehran is sinking at a rate of 35cm a year, or 1 meter every three years.
Permanent compression -- the worst aspect of the disaster. Water was filling the pores of the ground beneath Tehran. As they have pumped all the water out it causes the remaining soil to compact so that even if it does rain there is no room for the water to go and it will simply run off.
Consider the scale of this, NYC has a population of 8 million but the NYC metropolitan area is 20 million people that live in the area due to NYC, even if they don't live or work in NYC.
Tehran has a population closer to 10 million and just like NY there are many other people who live nearby and whose livelihood is based on communities that are suburbs of the city. They are going to move Tehran 1,000 miles to the South! This would be like moving NYC to Florida.
