This is a misunderstanding of the Prophecy of Seventy Weeks in Daniel chapter 9, in which the 490 years is an uninterrupted period starting from "the time the word goes out to rebuild and restore Jerusalem," of Daniel 9:25 and ending 3½ years after Jesus' death. In the prophecy, the starting point identified with a decree by Artaxerxes I in 458/7 BCE to provide money to rebuild Jerusalem and its temple. Now there where two earlier decrees by Cyrus and Darius’. So why don't these two decrees qualify to start the prophecy of Daniel 9:25? Well lets take a look at these two decrees. The first is the decree of Cyrus, given in his first year (probably 537/536 B.C.) which is recorded in Ezra 1:1-4. An undated decree of Darius (but falling about his second year, 520/519 B.C.) which is found in Ezra 6:1-12 merely reconfirms the decree of Cyrus. however, the first two decrees are about the temple, and its reconstruction, whereas the statement in Daniel 9:25 is concerned with the decree that resulted in the rebuilding of the city of Jerusalem. The first two decrees can be omitted from consideration, because they deal only with the building of the temple, and not the rebuilding of the city and restoration, "that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times." So we can see that the third decree of Artaxerxes is the one that started the prophecy of Daniel 9 and was implemented in September/October 457 B.C (Ezra 7:12-13).

Lets read through the entire prophecy and then break it down...

Daniel 9:24-27
24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.
25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.
26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

One thing that must be understood first is the 'a day for a year' rule established in Ezekiel 4:6.
Ezekiel 4:6
And when thou hast accomplished them, lie again on thy right side, and thou shalt bear the iniquity of the house of Judah forty days: I have appointed thee each day for a year.

For every day that is mentioned in this and all other biblical prophecies they are equal to a prophetic year. There is virtually no debate about this point in Christian circles and we'll find that the rule holds true in this prophecy.

The Timeframe:
The angel Gabriel starts the prophecy by giving a block of time in verse 24, seventy weeks. Seventy weeks is equal to 490 days, or 490 prophetic years. That is our timeframe for this prophecy from beginning to end.

Verse 25 tells us when this timeframe begins, 'from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem'. When did this occur? See Ezra 7; for this is the command where the rebuilding of Jerusalem was actually accomplished and that command was given by Artaxerxes, king of Persia; which occurred in 457 BC. There were two other kings that made similar commands to rebuild Jerusalem but those proved to not be fruitful.

This is the total 70-week block given by Gabriel in verses 25 & 27:
Block 1: 7 Weeks - (49 years) - Starts in 457 BC

Block 2: 62 Weeks - (434 years) - Starts in 408 BC

Block 3: 1 week - (7 years) - Starts in 27 AD

Let's look closely at the last week/ 7-year block (Block 3); for this is the period of time that many think will be the famous 'Seven-year Tribulation' of the future:

3 ½ Years + 3 ½ Years = 7 years (one week)
This block starts in 27 AD. What happened in this year? Christ was baptized, anointed, and started His public ministry.
The "midst of the week" started in 31 AD (3 ½ years later). What happened in this year? Christ was killed on the cross. (New Covenant confirmed.)
This block ends in 34 AD. What happened in this year? Stephen, the last disciple to the Jews, was stoned by the Sanhedrin and the Gospel went out to the Gentiles.

So we see that this breakdown perfectly follows the prophecy of Daniel 9 and we find that this prophecy was about the coming Messiah (Jesus Christ); history and later books of the Bible verify this.

Why do people want to put this last week of the 70 at the end times? There is no biblical reason to do so and it breaks the block of time Gabriel started the prophecy with. So let's ask some important questions.

Is the antichrist mentioned anywhere in Daniel 9:24-27? No. The "he" mentioned in verse 27 is Christ, not Antichrist, for Christ is the focus of the whole prophecy. Also, we find that only Christ makes convenants in the Bible. Is there any mention of a rebuilding of the Jewish temple? No. Any mention of sacrifices being restarted? No. Any mention of a covenant being broken? No. In fact verse 27 says the opposite, that the covenant would be confirmed.

So the time for this prophecy starts when the decree was issued to rebuild Jerusalem in 457 B.C. The appearance of "Messiah the Prince" at the end of the 69 weeks (483 years) is aligned with Jesus' baptism in 27 CE. The 'cutting off' of the "anointed one" is applied to the Jesus' execution 3½ years after the end of the 483 years, bringing "atonement for iniquity" and "everlasting righteousness". So the prophecy is all about the coming of the Messiah, which was when Christ first came and died at the cross in in 31 CE "in the midst of" the last seven years. The end of the 70th week or last seven years is associated with 34 CE when the gospel was redirected from only the Jews to all peoples.

My understanding:

In Matthew 24 Jesus Christ states the Tribulation will be cut short or no flesh would remain,

The final half of the "time of the End" is 1260 days, i.e. 42 months i.e. 3 1/2 years,

the final year of the final 3 1/2 is THE Day of the LORD.

Therefore; the Tribulation will be cut short on the final day of the first 2 1/2 years. The final day, as I can find no scripture stating the 1260 days had been cut short. The Great Tribulation is 900 days long.

I have found the Time of the end is seven years. Seven is God's number showing Spiritual Completion, Spiritual perfection.

During the first 3 1/2 years Seals 1 - 4 are fulfilled and the final 3 1/2 years -- 1260 days , Seals 5, 6 and 7 take place.

This block ends in 34 AD. What happened in this year? Stephen, the last disciple to the Jews, was stoned by the Sanhedrin and the Gospel went out to the Gentiles.

I see the baptism of Cornelius in Acts 10 as the end of the 7-year period that the new covenant was to be established with Israel.

There is no 7 years tribulation.

The tribulation is for the last three and one half years.

The tribulation is for the saints.

God is love and loves all people but one day He has to end sin on earth.

So He is giving the world 7 years to have their way to go against the truth.

For the first half they will establish a system the exalts people and there is no personal God.

Salvation is still available to the world.

For the last half they go against all people who do not accept their system.

Dan 9:24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

Dan 9:25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.

Mat 23:37 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!

Mat 23:38 Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.

Mat 23:39 For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.

Rom 11:25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.

Rom 11:26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:

Rom 11:27 For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.

Israel as a nation has 70 weeks, 490 years to make an end of sin, bring in everlasting righteousness, and anoint the most holy who is Jesus.

We see that Israel is not in the truth for Israel as a nation does not acknowledge Jesus as their Messiah.

So the 70 weeks could of not been fulfilled.

Israel is blinded in part until salvation is no longer available to the Gentiles which is when they take the mark of the beast in the middle of the 7 years period.

So the 70 weeks could of not been fulfilled for if it was Israel as a nation would be in the truth.

When salvation is no longer available to the Gentiles then God will send Israel 2 witnesses to turn them to the truth.

69 weeks has passed with 1 more week to go 7 years.

Which is when God gives the world their way to go against the truth.

And brings Israel to the truth fulfilling the 70th week.

In which then they will see Jesus.

The New Age Christ/antichrist will negotiate peace in the Middle East resulting in a 7 years peace treaty.

It will pave the way for all Hebrews to go to Israel for the Gentile nations will cause it to happen.

The antichrist wants them back on their land but God means it for good towards the Hebrews.

The New Age Christ will push the agenda of the new age which he will think to change times and laws.

Rev 12:6 And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.

Israel as a nation is protected for the first half of the 7 years period because of the peace treaty which the antichrist wants them to accept the new age.

Rev 12:14 And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.

Rev 12:15 And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood.

Rev 12:16 And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth.

Rev 12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

Rev 11:3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.

Rev 11:5 And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed.

Rev 11:6 These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will.

Israel as a nation is protected for the last half of the 7 years period.

Which the antichrist does not like that the 2 witnesses are working in Israel to turn them to Jesus.

But he has no power to stop the 2 witnesses for their power is too great.

It would seem like the world would abandon the antichrist and follow what the 2 witnesses are saying.

But it is too late for all people who did not love the truth were given strong delusion being deceived by a devil when they were cast to earth and have the nature of a devil.

2Th 2:1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,

2Th 2:2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

2Th 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

2Th 2:4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

The saints will not be gathered unto Christ until the man of sin claims to be God which is in the middle of the 7 years period.

Salvation is still available during the first half so the saints will remain on earth to represent the truth.

When the world takes the mark of the beast then salvation is no longer available to the world and the saints can be caught up to Christ.

Rev 13:7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.

Dan 8:23 And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up.

Dan 8:24 And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practise, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people.

Dan 8:25 And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand.

But the beast makes war against the saints, and overcomes them.

The tribulation.

Which the beast destroys the mighty and holy people.

Which can only be Christians for there is no in between for the world was given strong delusion to follow the antichrist.

Dan 7:25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

Which the saints are given in to the beast's hand for the last half of the 7 years period.

Dan 12:7 And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished.

And when the beast shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the saints all these things shall be finished written by Daniel.

1Co 15:24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.

Which then comes the end when the Son shall deliver up the kingdom to God, even the Father, and will put down the world.

Since God is giving the world 7 years to go against the truth the saints will remain on earth.

For if the saints do not remain on earth how did the world go against the truth if the truth is not there.

Which Jesus said behold the kingdom of God is within you as you portray His truth.

When the resurrection happens Jesus puts down the world which they do not continue anymore.

That is why the resurrection cannot happen pre-7 years or the middle because the heathen continue.

My comment:

Christ said the tribulation will be cut short or no life will remain,, so how can it last 3 1/2 year plus The last year of the 3 1/2 is The Day of the Lord. The 6th seal stops the 5th and then the Day of the Lord begins.

The tribulation is for the saints ???

No! the Tribulation begins "The Time of Jacob's Trouble" which Is the House of Israel,

And I believe the world has been full of sin for 6000 years, not just 7

Mat 24:21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
Mat 24:22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

Jesus did not shorten the days of the tribulation but said that it would be a short period of time.

If the Bible says three and one half years is the tribulation as truth then Jesus is not going to change it.

The Bible says eternal life to the saints as truth.

Jesus is not going to say I shortened it to a million years.

And for people that think the tribulation is not for the saints then why did Jesus shorten the days for the elect's sake if it has no bearing on them.

There is no 7 years tribulation but three and one half years.

Rev 13:5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.

Rev 13:7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.

The beast rules for three and one half years and overcomes the saints which he will destroy the mighty and holy people.

Three and one half years tribulation.

Dan 7:23 Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces.

Dan 7:24 And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings.

Dan 7:25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

The saints are given into the beast's hand for three and one half years.

Three and one half years tribulation.

Three and one half years tribulation then all these things are finished written by Daniel.

1Co 15:24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.

Then comes the end which the saints are resurrected and Jesus puts down the world.

If the tribulation is three and one half years as truth then Jesus will not shorten the days.

22And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

so believe you or Jesus Christ??

I see the baptism of Cornelius in Acts 10 as the end of the 7-year period that the new covenant was to be established with Israel.
How do you come to that...

1) Peter had been given the keys of the kingdom of heaven to loose sins. I take that as meaning he had been given the authority to administer water baptism to those whom he perceived had faith in Christ. Others had the same authority, but he appears to have been the leader among the apostles.

And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Matthew 16:18-19

2) As the leader of the group of apostles God used Peter to officially open the door to gentiles in Acts 10. God's providence was obviously at work in that encounter in such a way that he made it clear that gentiles were now considered clean. Really an earth shaking revelation to the Jewish mind, so much so that what he did spills over into Acts 11 where the others find fault with him for doing what he did.

3) Furthermore, after this event it says in Acts 11 that the Jews then began proclaiming the gospel to gentiles (Acts 11:20) whereas before after the stoning of Stephen they were only doing so to Jews (Acts 11:19)

4) I like to think that the centurion in Acts 10 was the same centurion whom Jesus said had more faith than any he had seen in Israel. That seems so wonderful to me that God would honor the faith of that man in that way: making him the first official gentile member of the kingdom of heaven.

Need to keep the prophecy as one timeline and work from there not put in a apostle that had nothing to do with the original one and try to say the keys of the kingdom somehow apply.

The "seventy weeks" prophecy in Daniel 9:24-27 is a Messianic prophecy predicting 490 years (70 times 7 -year periods) decreed for Israel to conclude sins and establish righteousness. It foretells a 483-year span (69 weeks) from the decree to rebuild Jerusalem until the Messiah, followed by the Messiah being "cut off" (crucified) and the destruction of the Temple.

So if we look at the timeline, the coming of Jesus as the Messiah is predicted down to the year and the season. This prophecy tells not only of His arrival on the scene as the “Anointed One” but also of His crucifixion, His keeping of the covenant, the final rejection of Jesus by His covenant people, and the acceptance of Jesus by the Gentiles. Here is a good study... https://adventistbiblicalresearch.org/articles/the-70-weeks-and-457-b-c

These are prophetic years, not literal, got to take that into the equation. The concept of a seven-year tribulation is non-scriptural, a 19th-century invention rather than a direct biblical teaching. The Bible does not mention a "seven-year tribulation" period and the concept was created in the 19th century by John Nelson Darby and in the 20th century by the Scofield Reference Bible, building on ideas from 16th-century Jesuit priests seeking to counter Protestant interpretations of the Antichrist. Take a look at this prophetic time period found in scripture which is the time, times and half a time mentioned in Daniel and Revelation:

Daniel 7:25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

Daniel 12:7 And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished.

Revelation 12:14 And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.

If we look back to Daniel we see the word 'time' in this prophetic context refers to a period of a year. In the story of King Nebuchadnezzar, he went crazy for seven years which is given as "seven times" in the text, and humbled and ate grass as an ox as seen in Daniel 4:32:

Daniel 4:32 And they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field: they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and seven times shall pass over thee, until thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.

So in prophetic reading we see the days equal years, so lets look how many days are in a time, times and half a time, it means time (or 1 year), times (or 2 years) and half a time (or 1/2 year) or a total of 3 1/2 years. Most people who look at it would stop at this point and accept the 3 1/2 years only at face value.

But these are prophetic years so each day is a year and 3 1/2 years would be 3 1/2 times a Jewish year of 360 days (360 x 3.5= 1260) so comes out to 1260 days, and a prophetic day equals a year so using the same methodology as is used for the 70 weeks of Daniel we calculate it to actually represent 1260 literal years. So, 'Time, Times and half a Time' in prophecy is really 1260 years. To confirm this formula we need only to look at the book of Revelation.

Revelation 12:6 And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.

Here the woman represents the faithful church, who flees into the wilderness for 1260 days. Again using the day=year formula, this actually speaks of 1260 years that the church would be persecuted. Now look at verse 14:

Revelation 12:14 And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.

Here the exact same time of persecution is referred to as 3 1/2 times, again meaning the same period of 1260 days/years as found in verse 6. In the book of Daniel, we saw this exact same period of persecution in church history:

Daniel 7:25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

This verse in context is referring to a period of time that the little horn or Antichrist power will persecute the true believers or true church, again for 1260 years. The same is true for the time given "that it shall be for a time, times, and an half" for Daniel 12:7

So why is it not a year equal to 365 days as we hold today? Well in ancient times the year was held to be at 360 days. The fact that the prophets understood a year as 360 days is well attested, and can be seen in the prophecies of Daniel and Revelation as seen in the use of "time, times and half a time" (i.e. 1+2+0.5=3.5), "1,260 days" and "42 months". These references represent a period of 1260 years (based on the 360 day Jewish year multiplied by 3.5). Divide 1,260 days by 42 months and you will get a 30-day month, as 12 months of 30 days equals 360-days in a year

These time periods occur eight times in scripture:
Daniel 7:25, "time, times and a half".
Daniel 9:27, "half one set of seven".
Daniel 12:7, "time, times and a half".
Revelation 11:2, "42 months".
Revelation 11:3, "1260 days".
Revelation 12:6, "1260 days".
Revelation 12:14, "time, times and a half".
Revelation 13:5, "42 months".

We see how the 1260 day-for-year prophecy is found in Daniel 7, 9 and 12 and again in Revelation 11, 12 and again in Revelation 13. so many chapters in the Bible all pointing to that same 1260 year period which today we know as "the dark ages". If one looks history you quickly find that after abandonment of Rome by the Emperors, was the rise of Papal Rome with the Pope at its head, a powerful religious but apostate church as seen in the system of worship all the way from Babylon. The conversion of the empire to Christianity, and then its removal of the Empires seat from Rome, freed the papacy from temporal domination of the Empire and it grew into a persecuting antichrist power whose persecution of Gods people clearly went on during these 1260 years. These "1,260 days" spanned the Middle Ages and historicists throughout history have identified the "1,260 days" as being fulfilled by rise of the Papacy and its temporal power being taken, from 538 AD to 1798, when the Pope was taken down by Napoleon's Roman Republic. In 1798, French troops under General Louis-Alexandre Berthier invaded Rome, deposing the Pope after he refused to renounce his temporal power and taking him prisoner, basically giving the deadly wound prophesized in Revelation.

The tribulation is for the saints ???

No! the Tribulation begins "The Time of Jacob's Trouble" which Is the House of Israel,

And I believe the world has been full of sin for 6000 years, not just 7
“The tribulation is for the saints ???”

“Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake. And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭24:9-10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

‭‭“Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues; and ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles.

But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak. For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you. And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death. And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.”

‭‭Revelation‬ ‭1:9‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands; and cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.

….
And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they? And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them. They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat. For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭7:9-10, 13-17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

‭‭Acts‬ ‭8:1‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his Lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep your's also. But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me.”

Here is a cut / paste from within my commentary on the Book of Daniel.

A Different Way to Understand the Seventy Weeks

If you don’t mind, I’d like to suggest another way of looking at the seventy weeks prophecy in Book of Daniel 9. Rather than working through every detail line by line, this is simply an attempt to step back and consider how the prophecy may be functioning as a whole.

The seventy weeks begin in 457 BC and unfold in a clear sequence. The first forty-nine years lead to the rebuilding of Jerusalem—its streets, walls, and Temple. This is followed by a longer period of four hundred thirty-four years, during which the people live in that restored city, studying the Scriptures and anticipating the coming of the Messiah. By the end of those 483 years, only seven years remain. Everything is moving toward completion. Then, at that moment—the beginning of the seventieth week—the Messiah appears. Within three and a half years, He is rejected and crucified—“cut off,” as Daniel describes it. This becomes the turning point of the prophecy.

At first glance, this seems to interrupt what should have been a complete and unified fulfillment. But when we look more closely, we begin to see that two things are happening at the same time. On the one hand, the Messiah fulfills everything that was required of Him. The six purposes described in Daniel 9:24—dealing with sin, making reconciliation, establishing righteousness, and bringing prophecy to fulfillment—are accomplished through Him. From that perspective, nothing is lacking in His mission. On the other hand, the prophecy is also given “for your people and your holy city.” Running alongside the same 490-year timeline is a covenantal expectation placed upon the people themselves. This dimension is often overlooked, yet it helps explain much of the tension surrounding the final week—whether it has been fully completed, partially fulfilled, or still awaits completion.

The people do not receive the Messiah. They reject the very One who fulfills the prophecy on their behalf. As a result, while the outward restoration of Jerusalem had been completed, their covenant response falls short. This helps explain why the prophecy can appear both complete and yet unfinished at the same time. This is where a broader framework may help bring clarity.

The seventy weeks can also be understood as aligning with a fourth and final Jubilee cycle—a 490-year period that likewise begins in 457 BC. In this sense, the timeline is not only about the Messiah’s mission, but also about the completion of a covenant cycle involving His people. But because the Messiah is rejected and crucified in the middle of the final week, this cycle does not reach its intended conclusion from the perspective of the people. The timeline reaches the midpoint of the final seven years—486.5 years into the 490-year period—but the last three and a half years remain unresolved. This is not because the Messiah failed to complete His work, but because His people did not fulfill their response within that same framework.

From this perspective, those remaining three and a half years are not assigned to the Messiah, nor to the broader Church, but to the people to whom the prophecy was originally given. In this view, Israel alone is positioned to complete that final portion of the covenant cycle that began in 457 BC and was intended to reach its conclusion in 33/34 AD. This leads to the possibility that those final three and a half years are still awaiting fulfillment. Drawing from passages such as Epistle to the Romans 11, where a temporary blindness over Israel is described, and from Book of Revelation, which speaks of a defined period of testimony, it is possible to see a future moment when that blindness is removed.

In that moment, God’s people would recognize the One they rejected—just as Paul did on the road to Damascus—and their relationship with Him would be restored. They would then take up a final role as witnesses, proclaiming the Word of God and the testimony of Jesus during a defined period often associated with the 1,260 days (three and a half years) described in Revelation.
Through this process:
  • Their relationship with God is restored
  • The final Jubilee cycle is completed
  • The prophetic timeline reaches its intended conclusion
It is likened to a set of railroad tracks. Both of the rails begin at the same starting time - 457BC, both run absolutely parallel down the road, both have a mission to complete, and BOTH RAILS WILL STOP AT THE EXACT SAME POINT IN TIME - 3.5 YEARS BEFORE THE END OF THE 70TH WEEK. However, the one rail that represents the Messiah and His God given mission (9:24) is still completed in full despite there is 3.5 years remaining for the end of the line. But when the Jews rejected and crucified their Messiah at the same time marker - 3.5 years before the end of the 70th week, THEIR RELATIONSHIP WITH THEIR GOD WOULD COME TO AN IMMEDIATE STOP, AND THE 4TH Great Jubilee Cycle would not move on to its 490 year completion. But at the time of the end, God will restore His relationship with them and they will complete the final GJ.

Thank you for standing up for the truth concerning the proper interpretation of Daniel 9. It is always good to see...

We only disagree in some of the details - please see:

These are prophetic years, not literal, got to take that into the equation. The concept of a seven-year tribulation is non-scriptural, a 19th-century invention rather than a direct biblical teaching. The Bible does not mention a "seven-year tribulation" period and the concept was created in the 19th century by John Nelson Darby and in the 20th century by the Scofield Reference Bible, building on ideas from 16th-century Jesuit priests seeking to counter Protestant interpretations of the Antichrist.

Thank you for standing up for the truth concerning the fact that much Bible prophecy is referring to a long period of time and not a short one. It is always good to see...
