The Ten, what is the greatest of the Ten Commands?

LOVE!

OK, so give us God's definition of love.

He tells us what Love is ion His Word, do you know what He said???

Notice that Jesus's blood was shed for many, indicating that it was not shed for all mankind

That false doctrine of the calvinists rares it's ugly demonic head yet again clueless-doh.gif

Tell us how God supposedly WANTS most people to go to hell.

Tell us how all the evil in this world is caused by God.

The calvinists are the tares Jesus warned about, just like the pharisees and sadducees claiming to be speaking in behalf of the Lord but are actually speaking in behalf of their father the devil.

I am not sure what you are reading but it plainly said He was speaking to the great multitudes. I showed this to you twice and even if He was speaking just to His disciples His disciples was to spread what God said. There is no Jew or Gentile in Christ just those grafted in through faith Gal3:26-29

In the end there are two groups.

One who hears His sayings and does them

Rev 22:14 Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.

And the ones who heard but thought it was meant for someone else. Rev22:15 Mat7:23 1John2:4 Luke6:49

No one is getting to heaven that is not in a covenant with God. God's people has their Fathers laws written in their hearts Heb8:10 and keeps them through faith and love and His Spirit Rev14:12 John14:15-18 which reconciles Rev22:14
Matthew 5:1-3. Who is Jesus instructing?

what you say here is that Jesus is wrong!

it is not my teaching but Jesus's I repeated his own words in the proper context. Paul cannot save you, only Jesus can it's your choice!

the ten commandments are the new covenant, but did read read the O.P?

1) You don't believe that all of Scripture is God's word? Paul, as were all of the New Testament writers, God used to convey His salvation message. God made Paul into the most prolific writer of the New Testament.

[Act 9:4-6 KJV]
4 And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?
5 And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: [it is] hard for thee to kick against the pricks.
6 And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord [said] unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.

[Act 9:11, 13-16 KJV]
11 And the Lord [said] unto him, Arise, and go into the street which is called Straight, and enquire in the house of Judas for [one] called Saul, of Tarsus: for, behold, he prayeth, ...
13 Then Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard by many of this man, how much evil he hath done to thy saints at Jerusalem:
14 And here he hath authority from the chief priests to bind all that call on thy name.
15 But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:
16 For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name's sake.

2) The ten commandments ARE NOT the New covenant; the New Covenant is the polar opposite of the ten commandments. Through the sacrifice and offering of Jesus Christ, the New Covenant was brought forth and eliminated the requirement for man to keep the law to become saved. What do you think Jesus's sacrifice achieved if not salvation? And if Jesus achieved it, then man should not try to replace with his own works, that which was done by the Savior.

[Heb 7:18-19 KJV]
18 For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof.
19 For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope [did]; by the which we draw nigh unto God.

[Heb 8:7-13 KJV]
7 For if that first [covenant] had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.
8 For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:
9 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.
10 For this [is] the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:
11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.
12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.
13 In that he saith, A new [covenant], he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old [is] ready to vanish away.

3) Those whom God saves, He saves, solely by His mercy and grace through Jesus Christ the Savior, and not because of any works on done by them. Jesus Christ alone is the Savior.

[Tit 3:3-7 KJV]
3 For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, [and] hating one another.
4 But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,
5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
6 Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

4) Man cannot save himself. Salvation is only by Jesus Christ given as a free gift to His chosen.

[Jhn 17:1-2 KJV]
1 These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:
2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.

[Mat 19:25-26 KJV]
25 When his disciples heard [it], they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved?
26 But Jesus beheld [them], and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

Yes, seeing the multitudes, but teaching only His disciples. Jesus chose not to teach the multitudes - not that He taught two gospels, but neither did He desire to teach the one true gospel to everyone.

[Mat 13:10-11, 13, 15-16 KJV]
10 And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?
11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. ...
13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. ...
15 For this people's heart is waxed gross, and [their] ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with [their] eyes, and hear with [their] ears, and should understand with [their] heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.
16 But blessed [are] your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.
We are in Mat5, Jesus spoke plainly.

You definitely make it clear - that you are completely wrong. By that, you remove Christ as Savior, the one who actually is the foundation of, and upon which, the entire gospel was built. You would instead make man into his own savior. You trample underfoot the title and role of Christ as the Savior, imposing its requirements upon man to achieve, thereby making salvation of man's works, which brings only God's wrath, judgment, and death upon anyone who would follow your incorrect teachings. So, yes, I understand that you are still under the OC, not the NC, because you don't believe in the tenets of the NC. You are therefore in no position to project yourself as an expert to instruct others on it - incorrectly teaching as doctrine that which, you, yourself, do not comprehend. Nothing of what you described above is contained or implied in it - it is ALL of God, nothing of man, except that God freely makes those He chose into recipients by His grace. He also unilaterally and permanently forgives all of their sins and iniquities, past, present, and future, through Christ's sacrifice. And that is what makes salvation completely by God’s grace through Jesus Christ as the one true Savior.

Rogerg

I definitely disagree!
If Christ came to earth to the save mankind NOW, and all that is required is one simple act -- what every you think that act is, doing nothing i.e. "grace", saying "I believe" with your mouth -- what ever --- the unavoidable bottom line is it ain't working.

Just look at the division on this site and look at the division that caused the 40,000 flavors that agree on what 20% of the Word of God?

are all 40,000 flavors "saved" ? if not which are and which are not? and how are we to choose which group to join and which to run from, On what basis are we to choose? and where is that written?

Are there 40,000 doors or paths to eternal life? Really, are we all forgive right now?? Nothing is required?

Then look at 6 billion alive right now that are pagans or believe in nothing. are they going to hell as many of the 40,000 teach?? wow that is not a great level of success.

Christ did not come to earth to save all mankind now and those in the "process of salvation" i.e. the Gift of
eternal life, were called by the Father to follow Christ, not Paul or any man and that path is very difficult,

Those called are to come out of this evil world and follow the path shown us by Christ, which is following the Laws Christ taught and lived by. Christ did not say; 'do not do what I do, only do what Paul says'.

Christ said "follow Me", not a church or another man.

Christ is our Passover according to Paul, we passed on that one and change it to easter on a sunday morning,
Is that following Christ?
.

I've lost your train of thought, or what your issue is, so i don't know how to respond

You posted to me. I did not post to you. I think maybe you dialed in to the wrong planet. Do you loose your train of thought often?
I never had an issue but I think you might.

If I understand you correctly, you do not make a distinction between what is required to become saved (which through Christ is nothing except to have been chosen by Him for it) as opposed to how as saved Christians we are act after salvation. Much is expected from us after salvation, but nothing is before salvation. Salvation is a completely free gift from the Father to His chosen, by His exceeding mercy and grace through Jesus Christ the Savior.

You started it here with your snarky response. I've lost track of what point you're trying to make.

Gentile believers were in those synagogues, so the message was to them too.
There also could have been the occaisonal bird that got inside. So you are saying the sky is blue and water is wet. Got it.
James states he is writing to the 12 tribes. I refer you to that.

Go back to sleep. YOU started the entire thing. Go back and read the posts.

James addressed his letter to the 12 tribes.....but we can read it now. So, does that mean James was wrong? What is the matter with you. Go find someone elses' time to waste.

We are in Mat5, Jesus spoke plainly.

He spoke in parables in both.
Christ is speaking of/to the multitudes - those who were not chosen by God unto salvation. The doctrine is the same - that certain people He desired/desires to teach the mysteries of the kingdom to, and certain ones He did/does not. Notice the word "given" - their understanding of what Jesus was teaching was not dependent upon themselves or upon their ability, but upon whom it was "given" to

[Mar 4:11-12 KJV]
11 And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all [these] things are done in parables:
12 That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and [their] sins should be forgiven them.

[Mat 13:2 KJV] 2 And great multitudes were gathered together unto him, so that he went into a ship, and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore.

[Mat 13:10-11 KJV]
10 And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?
11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.

But as I said, gentile believers would have been in the synagogues in which that letter was being read. It was addressed to the 12 tribes wherever they were (unlike Paul who wrote to specific assemblies), but it was applicable to all believers because there is no difference in Christ.

Matthew 5:1-3. Who is Jesus instructing?

When I was a kid, we had this song, went something like: 'God has prepared a place, somewhere in outer space'

I am of the ever deepening opinion that certain members are already somewhere in outer space.

It's almost scary.

actually, come to think of it, I think it was 'somewhere in outer space God has prepared a place'. Either way it rhymes

By Number of Books

  • The New Testament has 27 books.
  • Paul is traditionally credited with writing 13 of them (the Pauline Epistles from Romans through Philemon). GotQuestions.org
  • So by book count alone:
Paul wrote about 48% of the New Testament books.
    13÷27≈48.113 ÷ 27 ≈ 48.1%13÷27≈48.1 Vocab Dictionary
By Word Count (Volume of Text)

Word counts are a better way to measure contribution, because the books vary greatly in length. Based on analyses of the Greek New Testament text (which most English translations, including the NKJV, are translated from):

  • Total New Testament words (Greek): around 138,000. United Church of God
  • Words in Paul’s letters (excluding Hebrews): about 32,408. United Church of God
  • That means Paul’s writings make up approximately:
~23.5% of the New Testament by word count.

so you see? also pauls mission was to carry HIS name, this is what was told to him by Ananias

can Paul supersede Jesus and cancel out what He said, is it reasonable to believe Paul only and not what Jesus said?

many do not understand what paul said by lack of knowledge and discernment. peter in 2 peter 3:16 said clearly;

2Pe 3:16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

when paul speaks of the law neinf g ols curses and all these expressuions he is the only one to use by the way he means clearly the levetical and temple laws. the proof paul said the commandments are just and good;

“Therefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy and just and good.”
Romans 7:12 (NKJV)

salvation is only found in Jesus message

A person must, first, be quickened by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit before he can understand spiritual things or react to any thing of a spiritual nature (1 Cor 2:14). Salvation, according to Strong's concordance, means "a deliverance". The scriptures teach that those that Jesus died for have the promise of eternal deliverance (salvation). (John 6:37-40). Those that have the promise of eternal deliverance, as they live their lives here on earth, can be delivered (saved) to enjoy a good and abundant life here, if they follow God's commandments. The scriptures teach that there is an eternal deliverance, given by God's grace, ant there is also, a deliverance here on earth, earned by the good works of those that already have the promise of eternal deliverance. You should be giving all praise and honor to God for his grace and mercy for your eternal deliverance, instead of giving yourself credit for your deliverance by doing good works.

The trouble with your theory, is that the natural man (1 Cor 2:14) cannot receive the things of the Spirit until he has been quickened by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. (Eph 2:1). You are believing in eternal deliverance by works.
no a person must be called by GOD first

I was quoting Mat5 the sermon on the mount, where did He speak in parables in this passage? He didn't always speak in parables and most of the time He explained what they meant, so we do not have to guess.

The whole gospel is actually a parable - look at the allegorical basis of the gospel as revealed in Gal 4:24 with the parables being the parts of that allegory.

[Gal 4:24 KJV] 24 Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar.

Notice below that Jesus is telling His disciples they are the "salt of the earth". That is parabolic language with the true spiritual meaning undecipherable to those not given the key for understanding it in its true context. The thing about parables is that often there are those who hear it, yet do not realize they are hearing a spiritual parable because it also has earthly meaning and relevance, but it's true message - the spiritual message - is hidden from them.

[Mat 5:13 KJV] 13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

and

[Mat 5:14 KJV] 14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

[Mat 13:35 KJV] 35 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.

salvation is only found in Jesus message

Jesus and Paul did/do not contradict each other; Paul completed Jesus's salvation message. The gospel message was not intended by God to be understood by everyone, but only by God's elect which is taught by God only to them

Yeah that's not true.

14 And God said unto Moses, I Am That I Am: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I Am hath sent me unto you.
Exodus 3:14

Actually, there far far more concerning the name of God and the fact that the Bible tell us, that He is IN His name. Not good to just skip over things.
when God responded to Moses, He was very upset that Moses was asking for His name, that Moses was implying that there were many other gods including the Egyptian gods, but wondering which one was He. But God understood why Moses didn't know that there's only one God since he was raised as an Egyptian, that Moses couldn't have known about God. That he didn't know about Abraham, that Abraham put all of his trust only in God but he never put his trust in no one else. And Jacob only knew of one God, that he didn't want
to have anything to do with his uncle Laban's gods

13 Moses said to God, “Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what shall I tell them?”

14 God said to Moses, “I am who I am.[c] This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I am has sent me to you.’”

Isaiah 45:5
I am the Lord, and there is no other; apart from me there is no God. I will strengthen you, though you have not acknowledged me,

What you are saying mixes two very different things, and Jesus Himself does not teach this idea.

Jesus taught in parables at times, but He also spoke very plainly. When He spoke in parables, He clearly told people when He was doing so, and He also explained why.

Jesus said why parables exist in Matthew 13:10–11 NKJV. The disciples asked Him why He spoke in parables. Jesus answered that the secrets of the kingdom are given to His disciples, but not to everyone. This shows that parables are a teaching tool, not the nature of the whole gospel. They are used sometimes, not always.

Now look carefully at Matthew 5. Jesus does not say “this is a parable.” He is teaching openly, on a mountain, to His disciples and the crowds. He is explaining what their life should look like if they belong to Him.

When Jesus says, “You are the salt of the earth” in Matthew 5:13 NKJV, He is not hiding the message. Salt was well understood. It preserves, it flavors, it stops decay. Jesus is saying His followers must live in a way that keeps goodness in the world. If they lose that, they are no longer useful. The meaning is simple and direct.

The same is true for “You are the light of the world” in Matthew 5:14 NKJV. Light shows the way. Light cannot be hidden. Jesus is saying that real obedience and righteousness will be seen. This is not secret knowledge. It is clear and practical.

Jesus Himself explains how to understand parables in Matthew 13:34–35 NKJV. He says He spoke in parables to reveal things hidden before, but notice this: He revealed them. He did not turn the gospel into a mystery only a few can decode. He explained His parables to His disciples plainly, and the message always pointed to obedience, repentance, and the kingdom of God.

Most important, Jesus never taught that truth is locked away in allegory that replaces obedience. Instead, He said in Matthew 7:24 NKJV that whoever hears His words and does them is wise. Hearing without doing leads to destruction. That is not symbolic language. That is a clear warning.

So the truth according to Jesus is this: parables are one way He teaches, but the gospel itself is not an allegory. It is a call to repent, believe, obey, and follow Him. Those who belong to Him understand, not because of secret codes, but because they listen to His words and live by them.
