I must've missed this post where I encouraged worshipping other gods or stealing from my neighbor or that anyone should feel free from doing the will of God written on their heart or rebellion against it, if they love Him. Disingenuity certainly doesn't love its neighbor.
Its all part of the Ten Commandments. :)

It is your fear (disbelief) that there is no other way given that man can be made righteous.

Sabbatarians stumble over the 4th commandment through, as you say, lack of faith. By saying sabbatarian I mean those who think not doing anything on Saturdays is a salvational issue.

My fear is in God and what He asks us to do if we love Him. I personally do not understand the objection to it. I believe when we take the God part out of His commandments and pick the ones we are okay with keeping based on our feelings, they lose its power.

Ecc 12:13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter:

Fear God and keep His commandments,
For this is man’s all.
14 For God will bring every work into judgment,
Including every secret thing,
Whether good or evil.

In the last Chapter of the Bible before the Revelation of Jesus Christ we have:

Rev 14: 7 saying with a loud voice, “Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come; and worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water.” Exo20:11

Rev 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.
Rev 22:14 14 Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.

Sabbatarians stumble over the 4th commandment through, as you say, lack of faith. By saying sabbatarian I mean those who think not doing anything on Saturdays is a salvational issue.
No Scripture says not to do anything on the Sabbath. God tells us how to keep the Sabbath Exo20:8 Isa 58:13 Lev 23:3 etc. and He placed it in the same unit as only worship Him and not murder our neighbor. He added Remember on this commandment because He had the foresight man would try to do the opposite and try to change it Dan7:25. The grievance with the 4th commandment is not really with mankind, but the creator of God's Sabbath and holy day which is God Exo20:11

I personally do not understand the objection to it.

The objection is that it destroys the integrity of the gospel. Both Jesus and Paul, as well as others, said love satisfies the requirements of the law, ie the law is fulfilled in love. Sabbatarians turn that on its head and twist it into meaning love keeps the law. So it's very a deceitful and pernicious unbelief that destroys what Jesus and others said.

The rich young ruler was brought up in argument and instead of going back to find the post to address it after I've formulated my rebuttal, as I sort of skimmed considering it no new argument having heard the same argument reasoning repeatedly, I will address it in general here, considering that he display this lack of faith in asking, "What must I do?" I would go back and review the context for instances that Jesus was teaching when this man approached Him with this inquiry. I'm fully certain that He was teaching but exactly what, I'd have to refer back to the context (and I'm being lazy this morning since I've yet to step onto the cold floor to start a pot of coffee).

So, I'll make an educated guess that Jesus was teaching something similar to "God's will is that you believe on the Son" or "This is the work of God, that you believe..." and this young ruler wasn't paying that very much attention when he interrupted Jesus. But, Jesus, loving him, and full of grace, 'suffered him the indulgence' (I now have a cup and a Danish as I made use of the time formulating the best wording for that) and 'met him where he was when he said, "(Yes) You know all the commandments... (and I'm fully aware that you think you've kept every one of them since youth. And I have no doubt that you will be glad to tell me this...)

On the other hand, the thief of the cross didn't ask this question. I don't think that he asked any questions as a matter of fact  He simply pleaded, "Remember me..."

This strikes me as exuberantly rich. That is, it seems to be an excessive luxury.

A covenant is an agreement

= a formal agreement or promise between two or more people: When a covenant is made, then to break it is unjust.

God made an agreement with Israel, God did not break it in any way or fail in any way.

The agreement was ....
The Lord said.....
Exo 19:5-6 KJV 5 Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine: 6 And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.
Israel replied....
Exo 19:8 And all the people answered together, and said, All that the LORD hath spoken we will do. And Moses returned the words of the people unto the LORD.

Israel said....
Exo 24:3 And Moses came and told the people all the words of the LORD, and all the judgments: and all the people answered with one voice, and said, All the words which the LORD hath said will we do.
The covenant was ratified by the blood of beasts,
....7 And he took the book of the covenant, and read in the audience of the people: and they said, All that the LORD hath said will we do, and be obedient.
ots.

Our part is to allow Jesus to put the laws in our hearts and minds.

The covenant isn't the laws and commandments it is the promises on both sides.

comment:

"The covenant isn't the laws and commandments it is the promises on both sides"?????

For 60 years everything I did required a contract. not an expert but after 10's of thousands I know a little.

God's Covenant is a spiritual contract, the Torah, the voice of God, was our "consideration" our part, our contractual duty
God's part is supplying the Promises.

by the New Covenant, God's Torah is to become our "Nature", replacing our human carnal nature. in other words the
God's divine nature is understood by the Torah. We are to have as our nature --- the divine nature of God.
That also means, after conversion, were are to live by every word of God found in the Torah.
Which is impossible by those that have never been converted, that do not have the Spirit of the Father in them.
The Holy Spirit begins to build in us the Divine Nature of God.

The rich young ruler had great possessions and when Jesus told Him to follow Him and sell his possession, he choose his possessions which is breaking the very first commandment Exo20:3

Spending holy time with God on the day He set aside from Creation Exo20:11 Gen2:3, He said was made for mankind Mark2:27 so He can bless man Isa59:2 and sanctify us Eze20:12 because we can't do this ourselves Isa 66:17 destroying the gospel? Spending time with God is destroying the gospel? Not a teaching found in Scripture. Its essentially pitting God against what God says, everything Jesus told us to live by Mat4:4 just ignore and the example He set forth Luke4:16.

We are way too far apart in our understanding of God's holy Word- I am going to move on but wish you well.

Jesus' love for Him was lost on the man, but we know by scripture explicit mention of it in the very context of the account, "Jesus, loving him, said..." We see it from here, and the young man missed it right in front of Him. If he would've recognized it, I suppose his idea of love was distorted even though he, more than any other because being rich, and young (so probability statistics might lean toward an inherited rather than a self-procured wealth), he was likely exposed to being given everything that he did have but distorted the expression of love as of the things rather than the giver. A sort of, "if you loved me, then you would give me all I wanted" bend toward love rather than a "provide for all my needs' one.

I'm going to stop here, as it's apparent I'm only exhausting myself for meager profit.

Jesus loves all people and desires all people to be saved. Sadly, not everyone responds to His call, like the rich young ruler who went away sad because he had great possessions he choose over following Jesus.

No, observing the sabbath is not destroying the gospel; do whatever suits you. However, teaching that it is a salvational issue, or saying that love fulfilling the law means love is keeping the law does destroy the gospel.

So love is not keeping the law, the opposite of what the Bible says?

1 John 5:2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments. 3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome

1 John 5:2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments. 3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome

The verse you quoted refers to the commandments of Christ which are not burdensome. Peter said the law of Moses was a unbearable yoke and said those who were trying to burden disciples with that yoke were tempting God

Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear? But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they. Acts 15:10-11
Don't make the ridiculous claim that the spirit gives us the power to keep the law because Peter had the spirit

Jesus said his yoke is easy

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30

Christ is God and they are not divided in their laws. The verse says commandments of God. Christ is the one who wrote the Ten Commandments and He did not come to get rid of His own Laws, He came to magnify them but believe as you wish despite what Jesus said plainly Isa 56:6-7 Mat24:20-30 Isa66:22-23

Christ gives us rest no doubt and said this and still kept the Sabbath day holy Luke4:16. It was never an either or, God wants us to physically rest from our works on the seventh day Heb4:4 Exo20:11 Gen2:1-3 just as He did as our example and rest in Him Isa58:13 Heb4:11. man made it an either or, not God.

God told Moses that he would send Israel a new prophet who would tell them new words that they were to obey. And those who didn't hearken to his voice would be judged

I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him. Deuteronomy 18:18-19
Christ was that prophet and said that people would be judged by his words, not Moses' words

And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day. For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. John 12:47-49
Christ's words are the law of liberty and royal law that James said if a disciple followed, he was doing well

If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well: James 2:8
Why tempt ye God by trying to put an unbearable a yoke on the neck of the disciples, SabbathBlessing?
