John 3:18 (what is necessary for salvation from what Jesus says here?)

I agree that the dogma of dispensationalism is not defensible, except for these periods:

1. Before creation God was unknown by humans.
2. From creation until Abraham God was revealed to humans solely via general revelation.
3. From Abraham until John the Baptist, God's will was revealed to the Jews via Moses and prophets.
4. From Jesus until Judgment Day God is most fully revealed to humanity by the NT.
5. From resurrection to heaven throughout eternity God will be as fully known as possible by all of God's spiritual children.

Is simply believing in Jesus (like that he is a person and that he exists) enough to be saved considering what he says here in John 3:18?

Romans 10:9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

1 Corinthians 12:3 Therefore I want you to know that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus be cursed,” and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit.

So in order to be saved, Jesus must be your Lord too and not just Savior. He must be both . That means acknowledging and putting ourselves under His authority. We're no longer our own to do whatever we want, but must let the Holy Spirit work in us to conform us to His will and ways.
