I think i can recall three major church hiccups in my life so far, that has caused me to go on a church break for a while. maybe those breaks are needed sometimes, not sure.
Three? You live a charmed life.
My wife and I had to invent the phrase, "We're in between churches," just to have something to say when asked where we were going.
They would criticize us for being church 'butterflies'. Those same people have switched churches multiple times.
We were just the trailblazers.
The first church we left was a non-denominational mega church. The pastor covered up for a junior pastor who was seducing married women that he was supposed to be counseling. The head pastor sent him on his way to start a new church. A church, my friends followed him to, not knowing why the church split. I went because they were my friends, and eventually, I could see this ex-junior pastor was leading the church from his own personality and wouldn't hear from his congregation. We left before all the mess came to be public. My friends mocked me for leaving. They aren't my friends anymore. After a while, their spiritual judgment didn't align with our values.
That new church was eventually usurped by a random congregation and lost all its assets.
Oh, I got stories galore.
