Hi everyone,

I’m hoping to get some advice and experiences around maintaining good eye care in daily life. With so much screen time from work, phones, and entertainment, my eyes often feel strained and dry by the end of the day.

I try to follow basic habits like taking breaks and adjusting brightness, but I’m not sure if that’s enough. I recently came across the term Superior Eye Care and it made me wonder what truly sets good eye care apart from average routines. Are there specific exercises, diets, or products you recommend? How often should eye exams really be scheduled?

I’d love to hear what’s worked best for you.

I'm a Health Coach and Nutritionist, not an opthalmologist. My perspective tends to be different from medical treatments. My perspective looks at providing what our bodies need for repair and detoxification. Most importantly is that the Lord provides healing and any information for that to take place.

Our eyes need the full compliment of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and some specific ones.

I also had that problem from too much screen time.
I went outside one night when the weather was nice and noticed a shadow in my field of vision that was quite concerning. That's a potential symptom of Macular Degeneration. The shadow showed distinctly in the moonlight as an oblong shape. I tried to remember if I accidentally poked my eye recently or other reasons.
I think it was too much stress on the close bright screen without adequate nutrition to repair.
My healing has been slow since I had a series of life changing traumas.

I'm not saying it's wrong to go to a good opthalmologist. I'm simply predicting that
If I went to an opthalmologist, he'd Rx steroidal drops and perhaps Ocuvits brand vitamins. They are very low dose and inadequate, however Drs Rx them for 20 years. Steroids often cause more problems as the expense for for short term relief.

Instead:
I prayed to God for healing. He is my Great Physician so I must give Him all the credit that He deserves. He leads me to do what is best.

Then I found a bottle in storage of Lutein and Zeaxanthin which are carotenoids that accumulate in the retina, that filters harmful blue screen light and reduces the risk of macular degeneration and cataracts.
He gave me sweet potatoes at 25¢/pound, which have beta carotene that's converted to vitamin A for ocular health.

Two days later, I was healed!
I just checked again and I still see clearly without that shadow in my vision!

Praise to You Lord!
I meant to give you all the glory publicly because of your tremendous kindness.
I love you with all my heart!
Maybe my brother can be blessed by You too in this way.

lomarespio,

In addition to the nutrients that I already mentioned, I would look for high quality fish oil that is verified to not be rancid. That has helped others with dry eyes.

I have a app that is up to date perplexity. I take sport supplements and I trust this app. Why cause when I buy supplements it's 90% correct I can tell cause of my muscle gains. Some products are just a marketing $ thing with little of what you need for your issues so you take what is weak for long term for company profits. So here is what this said.

Hypermelose eye drops available from your pharmacy , quite inexpensive in the UK but I don't know about the USA . I have dry eyes and take these drops several times a day and through the night .

I've been thinking about those in the event that down the road I need something.
So you are suggesting to stay away from that one?
I wear daily contacts; however treat them more like extended wear (very extended wear  )
but when I don't wear contacts 1) I can't see (because my glasses are a very old pair that after a few hours they're causing more problems than helping) and 2) w/o contacts in my eyes either get real dry, or burn bad or both.

I understand your dilemma.
If you want to take nutritional supplements for eyes I would use what you have if you already bought them. However I would save your money and get higher dose ingredients separately. The Occuvites are recommended by MDs, who have earned much criticism on their nutritional recommendations.
You'll get more bang for your buck by buying reputable antioxidants in separate containers on sale.
Instead of buying synthetic vitamin A, I choose organic carrots and pumpkins, and hard orange squash (in season).
The beta carotene is converted to vitamin A and a healthier option IMHO. Please excuse me if you already know all if this.
For eyes, I noticed a remarkable correction with Zeaxanthin and Lutein along with a fast from sugar.

I was told by an opthalmologist that contacts block O2 that eyes need not only from blood vessels but from the air.
The reason they get fatigued blood shot and dry is because I wore them too long.
I wish glasses weren't so expensive too. There's a ginormous mark up on them.
Maybe we should start a thread on eye glass companies and see what the options are. I quit wearing contacts because of the hours I needed them for, but not for close distance.

I thought you asking for body care for this. Age has a lot to do with this. I know men only 62 and can't night drive permanently.

I was talking about how to shop for eye health supplements.

A, C, And D3 if they are good quality are supportive.
If I can add a couple more points that I've found helpful in researching brands....

1. Look at the fillers or base oils. Being oil based vitamins, the companies will add oil to the gell caps. Avoid seed oils. Seed oils go rancid and can cause more harm than good. Buy those containing coconut oil or tocopherols (vitamin E).

2. Take A, D, E, and K with a meal containing fat. Avocado is good, fish with the scales, meats.

Yes. These aridS2 supplements are the proven best.

The most important care is to see your eye doc 1 per year no matter what so they can run all the tests.

Wear sunglasses if the UV level is high or greater. The sun in Australia is hard on eyes for much of the year. I get dry eyes from time to time and I find Systane helpful. I get my eyes tested every 2-3 years. They are OK for my age.

Oh hello again! I was looking through this thread and saw your comment. Actually, I’ve been dealing with very stubborn eye inflammation, and I think whole body inflammation. I’ve been to so many eye doctors, and even a rheumatologist, and they keep pushing steroids on me without any solution. Do you have any advice at all for a whole body approach? if you don’t mind, would you mind sharing any tips?

It's impossible to say without a detailed discovery session. I have empathy for what you are going through and will offer some sound principles.

1. Sugar elimination
We all love it. Unfortunately it's been proven to be more addictive than cocaine.
Sugar in all forms is completely inflammatory once the amounts overwhelm antioxidants.
In addition sugar feeds the bad organisms and depletes us of beneficial nutrients.
It feed candida albicans and fungus which can proliferate the intestines and cause a cascade effect that can take time and specific protocols to reverse.

2. Seed oils
Highly inflammatory and damaging. Seeds start turning rancid quickly at processing. If things like chia seeds, flax are used, they should be consumed right after grinding or soaking.
Anything labeled vegetable oil, seed oils (with rare exceptions) should be avoided.

3. Chemicals
Chemicals are toxins. The body must work to eliminate them.
They are found in processed foods and grains in high amounts. When someone suffers, the first thing that they do is to seek help from those who pose as health care pros.
Unfortunately, the #1 thing they do is to provide more chemicals .
I'm not saying that diagnostics of exceptional Drs is off. Some are wonderful at what they do.
Keep in mind that MDs typically know nothing about nutrition. They are designed to offer chemicals which inhibit nutrients absorption and mask symptoms. Some are helpful, but the patients must get to the root of their challenges and deal with them a step at a time.
Years of chemical ingestion does not promote healing.
Providing the proper protocols for healing to take place is the key to recovery.

That will include, getting rid of the bad, adding the good and becoming active with increased mitochondrial(cellular) energy.

Oh wow thank you so much for the thoughtful reply! I agree, I don’t wanna throw all doctors under the bus. I just know the root causes are the true key and mainstream medicine sadly, as you said, mask it rather than fix. I will definitely look into these lifestyle changes. I really appreciate you taking the time!
